They said they would be here between 5:30 and 8:00. They called at 4:30 and said the tech would be at my house next. Gin showed up at about 5:15 and apologized for being early. He was very knowledgeable and gave me an assessment of my door and setup. We agreed on a price and he even had the supplies on his truck. He had the new spring installed and working by 6:00. I told him the house (and garage door) were less than 2 years old, and the door was kinda' noisy and a bit loud, but is working just fine. Less than 8 minutes later he's telling me the tension is all wrong on the cables and it will affect my spring and it needs a tune up. They look perfectly fine and identical. There really clean and tight. Then he said, "The door can come off the rail if the tension is not correct and it can cost you a lot of money!" Again, asking him to lube and tune up the door. He begins pressuring me to get a tune up (for $300.00 because, he said, the "spring can break and it can kill somebody". Seriously, kill somebody. Mind you, less than 2 years old, and not used often since we park outside. Me again, can you please lube and tune it? And I also asked him if there was anything he needed to do to check the motor- Him, "there's nothing to check on the motor, but I can spray some oil". So, I stayed in the garage and watched him take a can of WD-40 and spray the spring at the top of the door and the little pins between the panels that create the door. That's all he did. Nothing else. What a rip off. It's just a way for them to pressure people into getting unnecessary work done. He wasn't very nice either. I'm in Mooresville, NC. Find a reputable company.

I put feelers out for repair referrals on Next Door, and Door Medic was referred. I texted the number and got an immediate response with relevant questions and, with the pictures sent, I was given a quote. Dan came out on Friday morning, keeping his quoted time, and sending me a text when enroute, as requested. He arrived, gave it an inspection, assured that the previously quoted rate was still a go, then, got to work. Down to letting us know that cash is best because it keeps him from having to charge a credit card fee...he is a class act. We even needed one wheel, as one had been lost under some stuff in the garage...yes, our garage is adulting appropriate. He had one with him and didn't charge us for this part. Not saying that would be applicable for all, after all he is in business, this is just what he did for us, and no, I never met him before this day. More than fair, professional, and knowledgeable! He even gave us heads up on a couple of things that would likely need repaired at some point, but, was honest about us not needing to spend that money right now.
