Ken K. We recently purchased a vehicle from TLC Motors. Very…read morenice car but we were initially told the car's price was $18,000. We were okay with that. We were then told that they had installed Lo Jack on the vehicle and they do that on all their vehicles. So we thought we were getting more value. We were not told that it cost us $995. We would not have purchased that additionally. At the finance table we signed a lot of documents which were not explained well to us. I mentioned the price of $20,806.00 which was now on the top of the contract and he explained that it was taxes and fees. It was late and we need to get home so we carried on. After a couple of days we began to regret some of the extras like the waranties. So we called to make an appointment to take those off the finance deal. It was then we understood that we had paid an extra $995 for Lo Jack. Sounds like it should be easy to take care of, right? After removing the warranties and adjusting the financing. we asked about the Lo Jack and were told that it couldn't be removed and we were stuck with it. They wouldn't rebate the $995. I got in touch with Lo Jack and they said it was up to the dealer to remove the device and rebate the cost. To date, after leaving messages for the general manager to return a call to us, we have been ignored. We are happy with the car but the service leaves much to be desired.

I purchased a Nissan Pathfinder from this dealership less than two weeks ago and paid an additional…read more$500 for a 90-day powertrain warranty. At first, I felt like I got a fair deal upfront. However, since buying the vehicle, several issues have surfaced. First, the roof trim came loose, which I had to glue back myself. Then, I discovered that the rear door handle was broken--a detail I missed during my inspection, so I had to fix that as well. And this morning, I realized the power steering fluid is definitely bad, which may require me to spend $2,000 to $3,000 to replace the pump entirely. It's evident to me that this vehicle was not properly inspected by a certified professional before it was listed for sale. The "computer readout" they provided, showing old diagnostic codes, was apparently from the previous owner, as they didn't even bother to run it themselves. I take full responsibility for trusting these people--Alvin, in particular, was great to work with--but unfortunately, this dealership refuses to stand behind their products. They are doing everything possible to avoid covering repairs that, in my opinion, should have been addressed before the car was listed for sale. Who sells a car with bad fluids, broken trim, and a faulty rear door handle--something that could have potentially trapped my kids? To make matters worse, although I paid for the warranty in full to cover issues like this, they are politely refusing to cover any of the repairs because they "aren't engine or powertrain related." While Alvin tried his best, he has no authority to make decisions for customers, which is frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I wouldn't call my car a lemon since it does run, but the lack of accountability and customer support is unacceptable. The only reason I'm giving this dealership one star instead of zero is because of Alvin's efforts. So, thanks, but no thanks--save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else!

The salesman, Alvin, was great and I felt he was trustworthy. He agreed to take the car to a nearby auto mechanic to double check it, at my expense. That checkup found serious issues, and the salesman got the dealership to agree to fix them. Why? I had a great, newer car to trade in. But today, when they finally got the parts and had it fixed, Alvin came in to work to find that instead of taking it for its final check at the auto shop, it had been sold to someone else yesterday. Yes, I was disappointed and I am not pleased. But since they used my report to make fixes to the car and sold it to someone else, it seemed the least they could do was pay for that inspection. The owner, Roger Tinsley, just told me he "wasn't doing that" and I "should have bought the car quicker." Since Auto Fleet's inspection didn't find any of the issues found, and they were the ones who said there was a delay in getting the repair parts, I find that an interesting argument. So - I'm out $250 and I don't have the car I thought I was getting this week. Don't make my mistake. Go find a place that isn't run like this one.

Now I pay my car payments on time every 2 weeks, it is not my job to get my own tag, I thought this was supposed to be a car lot! If I was supposed to be responsible for things most dealerships take care of then i wil just keep my money! They do not do any maintenance on their cars, all cars are sold as they come which is a problem and illegal because it is never disclosed to the customer. I have had a constant issue logging into my account and no one sems to know how to fix the issue which is extremely inconvenient especially when they hassle you on payments even if its just a day late. I've had good ones, bad ones, up to ones that were total nightmares, like showing up and having the dealership tell me, after a 30-minute delay, that the vehicle we had agreed that I was to test drive had been destroyed in a fire. Certainly a creative twist on the bait and switch sales tactic. That being said,. Let's talk about Spartanburg Honda. I don't think I've ever had a delightful car buying experience in my life (and I was born in the 1960s). That's exactly the kind of experience I had at Spartanburg Honda. A delightful one! I arrived at the appointed time and the vehicle that I wanted to test drive was ready to go. Tommy McGaha was my sales consultant. Things went smoothly from test drive, to negotiating, to writing up the contract. There were no high pressure sales tactics or tricks or traps In the process. They disclosed everything about the vehicle and gave me a copy of the Carfax report. They even let me take the (used) vehicle offsite to get a third-party inspection. (The Carfax report showed that the vehicle had been in a rear-end accident requiring it to be towed which is why I wanted the third-party inspection. The car checked out fine and the third-party inspection gave me peace of mind I needed to close the deal.) Thomas Hawkins then wrote up the loan and finalized the deal. He offered me optional protection packages that provided real value. Again, no BS, no phony dealer installed options or made up fees. Tommy and Thomas were knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and kind. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I would add that I got a fair price on a good vehicle, and they worked with me on my trade.

I was in the market to buy a new car and I like to do all of my communications via email. I reached out via their website and Steven got back to me quickly with a solid OTD number for a new vehicle. Actually, three years ago when I was searching for another car I talked to Steven too! Back then, I did not make the deal with Steven but I am glad I did this time around. We went back and forth several times on pricing and in the end Steven had the best pricing amongst the other dealers that I was working with in the area. The price was very competitive. Steven was very very very responsive and on top of things. Every email he wrote was personable and kind, which is exactly how he was in person too. I'm sure he treats every customer this way but we felt like valued buyers instead of a number to him. Heck, we'd hang out with him as friends if he lived in Charlotte! He's that cool! I never once felt pressured or rushed to buy a car and my process took about 2-3 weeks of communication. I'm a pretty thorough buyer with a lot of questions but also wanting to get the best deal I can as it is a huge investment and purchase. With that.. i may be a little more to handle than typical customers.. haha! But Steven handled it all with grace and poise and I cannot wait to work with him again in the future when I search for another new vehicle. Oh.. and yes we DID buy a new car from Steven!!!! Woo hoo! Thanks Steven + team!!!

Volkswagen of Spartanburg almost single handedly restored my confidence in the company. I got a basic oil change and tire rotation at their service center. From the moment I walked in the door, all employees were incredibly professional. They advised that the oil change is going to take longer than usual and apologized for that. The oil change didn't take that long. You know the really amazing thing? This shop didn't stop to waste my time trying to upsell me on further repairs. They asked "Is the oil change and tire rotation all we're doing today?" and actually respected my answer of "yes, please." They simply did their job, got me out of there, and printed their recommended service items that weren't tackled on my receipt. Holy crap, I don't remember the last service center that identified issues but didn't try to upsell me on them. This Volkswagen dealership is amazing. Is it enough for me to buy my next Volkswagen from them? Honestly, probably not. I have no desire to drive another Volkswagen.
