We bought 2 Subarus from Vic Bailey. In general, we were pleased by the sale and service. However, recently I went to submit a claim for tears in the vinyl of the center console in one car, to Zurich Shield. When we bought the cars, the salesman said that Zurich Shield would repair or replace any tears of the vinyl. The two policies cost us $900 together. Got a call from Zurich Shield, and they said the only tears that are covered are from UV damage. And since the glass blocks UV, basically the policies are worthless. We were definitely mis-informed when we were sold these policies! read more

I was in the market to buy a new car and I like to do all of my communications via email. I reached out via their website and Steven got back to me quickly with a solid OTD number for a new vehicle. Actually, three years ago when I was searching for another car I talked to Steven too! Back then, I did not make the deal with Steven but I am glad I did this time around. I'm a pretty thorough buyer with a lot of questions but also wanting to get the best deal I can as it is a huge investment and purchase. With that.. i may be a little more to handle than typical customers.. haha! I scheduled an appointment for my vehicle a week in advance. I described the problem and I was told that the part was ordered. The day of the appointment I dropped off my car at their service center expecting to have it back the same day. as the day went on, I received video of some guy going around my car touching tires, and several calls and text messages trying to get me to trade my vehicle, but nothing about the actual issue for which I brough my vehicle to their service center. Finally at four in the afternoon I called and I was told that they will check on my vehicle and call me back. I called again, and since nobody answered I left a message telling them to have my car ready, fixed or not, by five o clock because I was ready to take it back. Finally after that message someone called only to tell me that they they need to wait for the part. I told them that the part was supposedly ordered the week before. It turned out that it was but was put under a different name. Needless to say I could not get my car repaired that day. I used to own a Hyundai which I always serviced at Dave Edwards' where I bough it. Every time I left my vehicle there I received a call promptly with the diagnosis and a quote. I loved their service. Apparently not everyone holds themselves to such a professional standard. It is not the fact that the part was misplaced, that bothers me, but the fact that nobody bothered, during the entire day, to call me and tell me what needs to be done and what the cost would be. Nobody. It was I, the customer who had to call three times to find out what is going on with my vehicle. I don't think I will be setting foot into Spartanburg Imports again. read more

In my case the last car come with a big scratch on the rim( you can see the alloy part) all this before getting the car of the loft and in a front of manager Andy Brand who promise to fix it, which was spray can and no fixing the alloy hole, and good luck with take the paint out of the tire. this was the best they can do for a new car. read more

Was contacted today and told that unfortunately the car had been sold by the insurance company so they couldn't investigate. Incredible that we are out $34K and no one wants to take responsibility. Subaru definitely is hiding something and seriously doubt that if a hold was put on something (as they claim) especially involving a vehicle fire that the insurance company wouldn't honor that. I have had an issue with my Subaru for over three years and had it in the service department more than five times for this same issue. Twice during the pandemic. Wow they have an incredibly rude lady working in the service department now! I think her name is Mackenzie. She's young, - maybe 20's and a blond. She was there the last couple of times I was in and was bizarrely rude the one time I ended up in her line one of those times. I just figured, everybody has a bad day. But again today, bizarrely rude, argumentative, even sassy - kind of like a spoiled three year old. Totally not like Subaru quality, service or caliber that comes to my mind. Today, I was speaking with one young man, seemingly a fairly new service guy and she leaned over and said the "fix" was to reprogram my car. I said no, no - we have done that several times, I prefer a permanent solution, lets not "reprogram" anything again. Mackenzie raises her voice and tells me she is helping this other guy. OK - well I was talking to the other service guy anyway until she butted in. Meanwhile a third service person, Sally Mang sees that Makenzie is totally in left field and escalating my frustration and says hold on, hold on, I will help you and proceeds to handle the appointment scheduling along with my loaner car without a hitch. Thanks Sally! Subaru - question for you...I know it's tough during the pandemic and all but why is this girl still in the service department here in Spartanburg? I expect more from Subaru. We love our Mazda and never had any issues until the airbag light started to come on and off. My husband scheduled an appointment and showed up to his appointment last week. He was told he didn't have an appointment even though he had all the confirmation emails to prove it. Moving forward, he rescheduled his appointment for today and was told he would get a loaner vehicle. He arrived this morning for his appointment after driving from Columbus, NC and was told he was NOT going to get a loaner and that the service for the car would take ALL day. My husband is annoyed and just left disappointed. Now why, after driving there not once but twice with no help would we even bother giving our money and time to this business?! We are pretty easy going people and all we wanted is to get our car serviced, pay for the services, and leave. But we have been inconvenienced twice in 1 week. Ridiculous!! I had a loaner vehicle while my Crosstrek was being worked on. The service has excellent communication skills, constantly kept me updated ( even though I work 3rd shift). Micheal (service department) would text me later in the day. When I returned my loaner vehicle, I had accidentally left some items in the loaner. Deena called to inform me that left the items and put them to the side for me. On a previous trip Ms Kay kept my phone charger I left. She called and kept the charger until I was back in town. I found a car for sale online at this dealership and called to inquire about it. I was unable to come immediately to look at it and offered to put down a deposit on the vehicle. I was told that was not necessary I could come that evening that it would not be sold. After making arrangements and driving 1 1/2 hours each way I arrived to find out the car was in the process of being sold. Bad business! ***Review for Mazda Service Department*** I bought my Mazda3 in Florida but recently moved back to the area. Mirazda (as I call her) was due for a 30,000 mile check-up so I took her here for a tire rotation, (synthetic) oil change and inspection. No appointment necessary for the express service dept, which must employ former NASCAR pit crews because they did the job in less than 30 minutes. You know how you're always afraid car places are going to upsell you on things you don't need? Not today. They said my air filter was still really good and nowhere near time for a replacement. Total cost came to $82 but reduced to $67 with the 15% off synthetic oil change coupon I printed from their website. Oh and they also gave me a coupon for a free full service car wash at Bob's Car Wash, which I'm waiting on right now. Always check the Vic Bailey Mazda website for coupons before you come in for car service. I'll definitely come back when it's time for more Mazda maintenance! read more

I was very upset with Fairway Subaru who are, despite the large population around them, not very friendly people. Vic Bailey however is different, and after the trouble I went through previously with fairway subaru, this is a good thing. I was in an out in an hour, with my car fully reviewed and given the upfront costs to decide on. They did not charge me to remove a penny from my ac adapter (kids, anyone?) and explained when and why I needed services. Ben Teau was my service advisor and despite being a younger guy, was very professional and polite! He also helped me find a discount coupon for my services! Completely untrustworthy sales staff, finance manager, and owner, Vic Bailey, himself. They literally FORGED MY SIGNATURE to get the financing from my bank pushed through a few days faster. Can't respond to business here, see FB: https://www.facebook.com/roleya/posts/10153677911517734:0 To start, the salesman told me marks on front bumper were insect residue and would easily wash off. A close look revealed it was quite obviously marred from rocks/debris on the highway. It wasn't major damage and I wasn't buying for looks, so I pressed on despite the bad feeling I had. After having it checked by an independent mechanic (one positive: they were completely open to that after visually checking I had current insurance), I came back to finalize the purchase because the price was right and had no major issues. Only the battery was looking at possible replacement far down the road. Secondly, they tried to have me pay sales tax, when I was active duty military only in the area due to orders. SC law clearly states I don't have to pay tax, and I had to use one of their computers to find the exact paragraph and print it out for the sales manager to ok them following the law. They said they have always collected sales tax from military members, who they sell to regularly. I definitely should have paid attention to that bad feeling then. Thirdly, they tried to have me sign a document explaining their warranty that said if I brought it in for WARRANTY WORK, I would be PAYING 100% OF THE COST. How is that a warranty? That's just the same as non-warranty work. I had them correct this (during which they were shocked that no-one else has noticed this before), and again ignored the bad feeling I had. The Finance Manager (Mike Bell at the time) wanted me to sign a blank copy of a title application for WA, my home state where I would be licensing it. This form is required by my bank to pay out the loan. Given that I had trouble with processing my WA title the last time a SC dealer filled out paperwork for my motorcycle, I said no way; he needed to have it filled out correctly before I would sign. He then proceeded to tell me that there were no office staff available to fill out an electronic copy, fillable PDF form, and I definitely needed to sign it blank. At this point I listened to the bad feeling I had and said no thanks, I'm leaving. He hurriedly said he would check on something and came back to say they would fill it out, mail it to me, and I could sign and mail it back. I said that would be just fine, signed other documents, and left with the car. A week later I get the title application in the mail, filled out completely wrong, and in a way that would obligate me to pay WA sales tax (much more than SC). I called my bank to ask about how long the loan authorization was in place since the dealership was not going to be able to send a properly filled out title application for another few days. They told me they already had a SIGNED copy from them. I checked my online documents and saw that it was clearly forged (the pdf included all sales documents, so the signatures could be easily compared by anyone looking). The documents were time-stamped and origin-stamped, showing that it came directly from the finance manager's office (he gave me his fax number in an email for the corrected title application saying it went straight to his office). The Finance Manager denied the forging, saying he didn't know how it appeared there, even though he knew I lived 4 hours away and had not been anywhere near the dealership between leaving with the car and him faxing this paperwork. I eventually spoke with Vic Bailey himself, who had no concern for this egregious lapse of moral character, but was offended that I would assert this ever happened at his "quality business". I asked him to look at the signatures himself. He then said "we do not believe the document in question was signed at our dealership". Really? How did it get magically faxed from your dealership? Where did it come from? The Finance Manager had once offered a multi-year extended warranty with a ridiculous deductible ($750 if I remember correctly), and no indication in the paperwork that it was good anywhere else in the country (which would be needed when we left the state for my next duty station). After speaking with the owner, this offer was rescinded.   I've tried contacting the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, Better Business Bureau, and other Government/consumer protective agencies. The only response from them was either: A) not handled by this office (e.g. CFPB), B) a crime and not handled by this office (e.g. BBB), or C) reports of crimes of this nature are received but not every report is individually investigated. My bank could do nothing because I signed the loan documents and purchase document and intended to buy the car. Overall, a terrible experience, and I have lost the negligible amount of trust I had for dealerships to begin with. read more

Went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation which I have done before since purchasing my Outback from this dealership. This time, the technician had dirty hands and left fingerprints on the driver's side window, the door upholstery, door handle, and center console. Very sloppy and shade tree quality, therefore, I give this dealership's service department a very low score. That score is a shame because the service department staff except for the aforementioned technician was five star. My hope is that management will tutor the technicians to be a lot more conscientious in caring for the customer's vehicles. read more

Always got excellent service until recently when I dealt with Brian in service. Had them service 2 cars under him. On one he claimed I needed a major fuel cleaning under my maintenance for 2013 Mazda over $200 come to find out not true. Did an inspection on my Axel without my permission another $45. I did file a complaint BBB & consumer affair. Brought in another car under warranty he claimed I needed over $1,000 worth of work done, if it wasn't for the warranty company inspecting the car to see if it needed the work I would of believed him & paid. Warranty company found nothing wrong. I believe they work with getting commission for selling repairs. Very dishonest, don't take their word make sure you see what is damaged before you pay. DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORD. Don't let that A+ rating fool you. Very disappointed after dealing with them for over 3 years. read more

I was in the market for a new car. I had it narrowed down to a handful of cars, Mazda and Subaru being two of them. I had thought a larger dealer (maybe in Charlotte) would be a better source, but as I am in Spartanburg, I thought I'd stop by Vic Bailey to at least see the cars I was thinking about. My plan was to stop by and spend 5 minutes at most. I do not appreciate hard-core high-pressure sales, and I just came from other dealerships where that was SOP. Jonathan Meredith, a younger guy on the sales team, came to talk with me. His approach, and as far as I can tell, the dealership's approach, was truly a "consultative sales" approach. No high-pressure, "What can I do to get you in a car today", or hold my driver's license hostage techniques. Jonathan was a VERY knowledgeable sales person, and answered all my questions on several vehicles I was considering. What went from a 5-minute stop ended up being the better part of an hour, solely due to me. I ended up purchasing a vehicle (Mazda3 S Hatchback) from them a few days later, and am very satisfied with my selection, and with VIc Bailey as a dealership. read more

Came here from Greenville on a glowing recommendation from a neighbor regarding their service department. ~$4k later I waited half an hour to get my car at the lot. The person who brought it around took 15-20 minutes to go get it and arrived looking pale faced and a little flustered. Got the car home and the battery died and needed AAA which was a few more hundred including replacing a failing battery they missed in their 'twenty point inspection'. The woman who answered the phone blew me off and never apologized. When I complained and became increasingly irritated they offered to replace the battery if I could get a jump on my own and drive the 45 minutes back out there. Months later another shop was recommending some of the same repairs the dealership had said they had done. Of course that was a few more thousand, but they fixed it that time and the car has run well since. Unreliable, horrible customer service and questionable pricing and billing. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

This is long, but I cannot say enough good things about the folks over here. The level of service provided to us was outstanding! We are from another state and were headed on a family vacation when we experienced some relatively serious issues with our new-ish Suburu just outside of Spartanburg. Unfortunately, the timing of the incident was such that we would be arriving at the dealership after the service department had closed for the evening and were initially told that they would not be able to provide us with a loaner so we could continue on our trip while they worked to fix our car. We had the car towed here and planned to Uber to a local hotel so we could wait it out and see how long it might take to get our car fixed and back on the road for our trip. Side note, we were headed on a camping trip so our car was not only packed to the brim, but we had bicycles on a rear hitch as well. Also, we were traveling with our young children who were very excited about the trip and super bummed about the new (and very real) possibility of not going on it. While we were waiting for our Uber to arrive, we happened to run into the General Manager, Jim. We told him what had happened and he offered to see what he could shuffle around with the loaner schedule for the next day so we could have a car until they could get our vehicle in for service the next morning. He told us that he would make sure that they got it in first thing and ended up giving us a loaner car to take for the night which was so kind and very much appreciated. What we did not know was that he didn't want to give us a car without a hitch to continue on our vacation, bikes and all! He must've known based on what happened with our vehicle that we would not be getting it back in time for this. The next morning, we got the call from the service department letting us know that it would be at least 3 days before the car could be repaired and returned to us due to a part that had to be ordered. We were then informed that Jim was having a trailer hitch installed on another loaner for us to take so we could continue on our camping journey. Let me remind you that we did not buy this vehicle here and since the car is under warranty they really had little to gain financially from helping us out. We arrived that afternoon to switch all of our gear over to the loaner vehicle and were greeted with incredible kindness by everyone we encountered at the dealership. These people were nothing but helpful to us in every way. We left with a loaner vehicle with a hitch and they even offered to drive our car back to our home once it is fixed and pick up the loaner! I mean, for real? So impressed -- they will be around for many years to come if they continue to put customer service at the forefront of their business model. They turned a really disappointing situation into a very positive experience. Kudos to the entire team from owners and management to the guy who answered the phone call in the service department at the start of our debacle. My seat broke on a six month old Impreza and they fixed it under warranty. it broke again and they said this time we really fixed it, no problems now. It broke again and they fixed it, no doubt about it. Picked up my car from the service manager and my airbag light was on, he said he didn't notice it. Lured to dealer by internet price $2000 less than MSRP. Was quoted a sight unseen value for trade via e mail. Thought that could go higher when they saw it was in good shape. Dealer obtained car from another that more closely matched preference. Took a trip to make the deal; HOWEVER, they treated it like a done deal that they could maneuver any way they wanted. Started by clipping the trade value $1000 lower than the sight unseen offer. (Said they thought it was another model; but, they were dealing with the VIN # indicating model and all the equipment). Another dealer quoted $3500 higher for the trade, and even if they stuck to full MSRP, would have been a better deal by $1500. I would have walked away but wife didn't want to wait so we stayed. I hate writing reviews but I can't not inform people how poor the service is at Subaru. Went there on 8/27/16, I had a 930am appt for an oil change and tire rotation. I was greeted by a very young greeter and a young woman that was very new, the advisor was on the phone. Told him what I wanted but also waited to talk to the advisor since I had a few small issues. I was told it would take 45 min to and hour. for my first issue the advisor came and told me it would be 1hr of labor at $100/HR. Now I will tell you I was a service advisor and manager for years at a Subaru in a large northern city so I know the business very well. The service I needed takes no more than 10 min and the actual Subaru labor guide as well as Mitchell states it should charge 0.3 hours to complete. As I later found out that the advisor was only there 1 month and this was his first automotive service job I know he asked a technician and the tech told him an hour so he followed the techs recommendation. This is not how things are supposed to go in this business. I can't blame the advisor since he is new. But as a former manager I never would leave a new advisor there alone on a saturday to fend for himself. Either I would be there or another skilled advisor. I declined the service. As time went on (2 hours) I asked when my car would be done. The younger female told me "oh 10 minutes, they are doing the paperwork now". I waited another 25 before I saw my car parked in the lot. I went to the service drive and found the advisor on the phone, the young greeter was sitting there chatting wit the girl. He immediately apologized when he saw I was getting irritated. He got the paperwork which was already gone and showed it to me. I saw that there was no tire rotation on it. Immediately I asked if it was done. He had no clue and went to ask the tech. He came back and said "oh yeah we decided to do it free" . I call BS!!!! Dealers don't just work for free and techs don't do services that are not on a repair order. So I was there 2.5 hours for an oil change and rotation (that may or may not have occurred) The kid offered me a coupon (for a car wash) come on man. Every car gets washed and if not you give them one of those so it can be, it's routine and don't tell me sorry we're so busy when I'm standing in a nearly empty service dept, I was in the waiting area over 2 hours with the same 2 people. Don't try to buy me for your screw up by lying, especially when I told you I used to run dealers. Worst part is my wife brought my car for me on the last visit and she had the same experience over 2 hours for a oil change and tire rotation. I finally spoke to the advisor and he said the rotation was done. I still highly doubt it. I also am 99% sure I saw the service manager in his office doing nothing. So to sum it up The service is terrible, the management is worse, and the prices are way to high for what they offer. I always go to the dealership but after this visit it will never be this one again. read more

After coming off of what is probably the worst car buying experience of my life at John Finger Mazda, what a change of pace this was. My salesman was Jonathan Meredith and he was excellent. I basically had my trade value ready to go and had already negotiated the new car price at a different dealer (who wasn't able to honor the same trade value after the car I ordered would eventually come in - approximately 2 months down the road), and they accepted the terms. He kept me up to date on the status of the new car and answered any random questions I had while waiting. A different car was located after a couple of months which would allow me to get it sooner, so they were able to get it for me and saved me at least 3 additional weeks of waiting most likely. When I got to the dealership to sign my paperwork, everything was in order and ready to go. The financial portion/signing took less than 10 minutes and we were out in the car reviewing all of the bells and whistles. I was a loyal customer until the service dept. decided they wouldn't respond to an online scheduled service. I didn't know they were upset with my past services - always scheduled - or that they were confused about my email - until they decided to let me know when I decided to call just in case on my way to said service. Scheduled a week and a half in advance, no confirmation email, no call, just a blowout on the phone when I call them on the way. Don't bother scheduling anything more than an oil change on a Saturday or they get huffy... but won't express that it inconveniences them until you do it multiple times. Then it's a blowout. Probably corporate's fault as they only have two tech's in the shop and a line of customers on a Saturday (again, didn't bother to tell me all this until I was on my way to said service). I thought we had a great relationship and I was a loyal customer until this experience. No amount of good service or discounts on their website was worth that phone call. Done with VB. Could've all been avoided by just replying in some way shape or form at some point in a week and a half. I even called just a day or so after I scheduled the service because I didn't get the usual confirmation email. Lady that answered said I was on the schedule. read more
