Don't trust the good reviews…read more 2 year old Carrier Heat Pump not cooling on a Townhome bought new 2 years ago. No idea who installing company was. Property manager jumped the gun and called out another company that was not Carrier authorized who diagnosed it as a freon leak from a bad factory solder joint. $770 to repair from non Carrier authorized company. Called Carrier for warranty coverage and they recommended Holley as they are an authorized Carrier dealer/repairer and could diagnose the problem, then contact their Carrier representative for a solution. Holley confirmed the diagnosis of factory defect with bad solder joint causing all freon to leak out. I was told by Holley service tech, they cannot guarantee the repair or assure me that one of the other solder joints will not leak eventually causing the same issue. I also was told by Holley several times that they would not deal with Carrier for a solution as they "did not install the unit" (when it is not an installation issue. It is a manufacturer defect). Estimate to repair from Holley $1660. Somewhere along the line, Holley did speak with their distributor Mingeldorf (sp?) who offered a $500 credit towards labor to repair the unit, but it had to be used within 15 days. I then got to tinking about the difference in repair estimates. I asked for a itemized breakdown from Holley for the repair and was given this: $470 for 5lbs of R401A $1190 for 3 hours of labor, Misc, Materials (acetylene, copper fitting, solder material) Now lets assume the Misc and materials is $100. That equals $1090 for 3 hours of labor or $363/hr. I have asked for their hourly labor rate 4 times and they will not give it to me. The owner is rude and basically said I need to go somewhere else to have it fixed. He stated that I don't want to pay for anything (which is untrue). It is clear to me that they are deceitful in their business practices as I can assure you that $363/hr is not the going rate per hour for HVAC service. I don't want the repair for free, but I also don't want to be lied to and taken advantage of which is what this company is doing.

There are still two pot lights in the kitchen that do not turn on or off, but they performed well in repairing the light switch boxes, repairing the outlet in the basement and, most of all, installing brand new smoke detectors throughout the house. The price was fair for the value received. The one-star reduction is for the two kitchen lights still not working.

I called Kimball's and someone came in about a half hour ! James and Taylor ended up going into the crawl space and set up a pump to move the water out. I really expected there to be a long wait for an appointment but he was scheduled within days and was able to quote and complete the job same day. I needed a 20 amp dedicated circuit for a home based 15 needle embroidery machine and really didn't want to pay an electrical so got some "advice" and concluded we could put a 20 amp circuit in place of the 15 amp. Three months in, I noticed that my lights were flickering in the home office whenever I fired up the machine or plugged an iron in. I did a quick internet search for possible reasons and quickly determined that I likely had a fire risk so I went to my trusted Yelp to find an electrician. Sure enough my hunch was right. We had Help!! put in a true dedicated 20 amp. No more flickering. While we had him we decided that lightening strikes near the house were too close for comfort and we have way too many electronics and energy electric car plugged in so we had him install a whole house surge protector. I called on a Sunday, Eric responded- that was good. Said he could be here on Monday- he came determined what the problem was. Went to a plumbing supply house, but closed for Labor Day. Ok, so Tuesday he goes back to plumbing supply and finds out he has to order the Valve Stems to be replaced. Ok. They came in Thursday- And are installed- hmmm-need new handles and new stem sleeve. Ok he gets. Everything is put in. Handles are difficult to turn. He does an adjustment. Leaves. Sometime later I use the shower but wait- those new handles are still very difficult to turn on, especially the cold water one. I send text to Eric to please come over to readjust the tension on the two new handles. Well after many texts, no response, than response saying I will be there, but no show. Various days and times selected, never showed up. Has plenty of reasons why not. Answers text in untimely manner. The readjustment process is probably not more than a fifteen minute process. Said he would be here on the 19th, a Thursday. Never showed up. No text as to why. I texted him the next day. No response. I texted him the morning of the 21st, no response. Not waiting anymore. I called a different plumber to get the job done. Sent new text to Eric not to come over. No need to respond. I believe that he may know how to fix a problem but his business model needs to be greatly improved. And that's why the ONE Star Rating now!
