We want to come back again with our families- the game room downstairs would be a great spot for the teens (& husbands) and there were more beds in the loft that we didn't even use. This is our second visit to Lost Cove and we do not plan to look elsewhere and we plan to return yearly. It would be very hard to find a cleaner, well managed house in a rental. Tom and Kelly paid very close to ever detail in this rental and it offers so many amenities that most do not. It very clear that they want their guests to have the best experience they could have and we have always had just that. The entire atmosphere is just what you would want when you visit the mountains and the view is awesome. It is hand down the cleanest rentals I have ever had. Cherokee Transit saved our trip…read more Our car broke down, and without the transit we would not have been able to enjoy the area. They have downtown routes (found on their website) and all you have to do is text them at 828-269-5790 and tell them what number you're at, and what number you want to go. It's that easy. The car took days to fix, so this allowed us to visit all the lovely main attractions in the area and have great meals to boot. It's extremely easy to use, clean, efficient, and honestly, I would rather use the transit if I returned than drive around trying to find where things were located. For those of you that like to drink at the casino, this provides a safe way for you to explore the more beautiful and historic areas of the city. Highly recommend. Also, beware of taxi drivers in this area. We tried to call several, but only one answered and gave us a quote. We get in the car and the meter is already at $10 and, "I don't know why, I just do what my boss tells me." They then tried to charge us $40 more on top of what they quoted once we arrived at the car dealership as the meter was running at insane speeds. It was over $60 for a very short ride. My recommendation is, if you have to go any distance out of the main downtown area, hire a taxi from your destination city, not within Cherokee. It was a total sham.

My MIL owns a week here, and my wife or her friends typically come up. This year there were 13 of…read moreus, including kids. I've heard so much, even seen pics, but it truly didn't capture what a quaint spot this is nestled in. Our units were in buildings 2 and 3, near one of the greens of the golf course, and across the little parking lot from Jonathan Creek. I started each morning reading a book and drinking coffee out on the porch, watching the sun come up. I was surprised at how early the maintenance guys started working on the golf course (6:45am one morning!). They should rethink that -- have them do the lawn care at the end of the day instead, since people come here to sleep in and relax. I was also surprised at how fast cars come through the "parking lot", which I discovered is also the access road to the houses up on the hills behind the condos. People were constantly having to be told to slow down with all of the kids (not just ours) in that area of the resort. There should be speed bumps along the creek drive, or warning signs of some sort. All if us REALLY enjoyed the creek, with both fishing and tubing down it (we got some sturdy ones for just $7 each at Walmart). Of our 7 days here, 2 of them were spent all day in the creek. Oh, and you can "borrow" fishing poles at the Valley Welcome Center about 1/2 mile toward town, and keep them for 3 days! We didn't catch anything, but I did see a local catch four fish one afternoon. The units are very homey, and I like how they supply all the dishes etc you need, as well as extra bedding for the pull out sleeper couch (two of our kids used it). The decor is a bit dated, but kept clean and it works. We also used the fireplace two nights for a s'more party with the kids, which they loved! Would def recommend staying here with your spouse alone or whole family! Centrally located where you can head to Franklin, Pigeon Forge, or any place else you'd like to go.

DEEP CREEK TUBE RENTAL operates out of the general store for Smoky Mountain Campground. It is the…read morelast tube rental opportunity on the right side of Deep Creek Road before it enters into the park. This became our first adventure of a week long vacation as we stopped here during the drive to our destination. We checked with several of the nearby tube rental businesses and decided on this one not only because of their location, but also because they did not charge us to use the life vests required for anyone under 13 years old. Other places either charged an additional fee or wanted a deposit. The staff was friendly and I even had a little sports banter with the owner, who had a God-awful Alabama hat on... Go GA Bulldogs!!! LOL But where they earned 5-stars was because of their honest dealings . We visited two days after heavy rain had swollen the river. While the overall volume was significantly down, it was still fairly swift. This caused a few traumatic moments as three adults had to fish three kids (6,7,8) out of the creek in fast moving current once they reached the take-out point near the bridge. This of course was not the rental companies fault, BUT it would have been useful to know the best places to exit the water. Some sort of map or signage along the creek would have been extremely helpful. Exiting the creek was so difficult by the bridge that safety for the youngest became an alarming issue and two rafts (and a pair of shoes) were lost in the battle between holding on to the kids or holding on to the rafts. At checkout the owners charged us about $55 per raft, but told us they would refund the money IF the rafts were found by the end of the day. They were indeed found and the owners not only texted us the same day, but had the money in our account before weeks end. I TRULY appreciate the honesty because we would have been none the wiser! [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Aside from the difficulty exiting the creek, they also had a wipeout on a bottleneck rapid further upstream that really traumatized the youngest of our group. I didn't think the poor kid would ever go in water again, but luckily a few hugs and a slice of pizza brought him back from a dark place. So for families with kids single digit in age, I'd recommend putting your rafts in at Tom's Creek Falls when volume is up (and not the one near Indian Creek) which avoids the more challenging area for tubers. In retrospect I would have dropped my crew at the trailhead and driven back to the General Store and waited to help them exit there. It would have given them a longer ride in the river. Still, it did make for a lively story during the remainder of our vacation! It's amazing how little boys go from scared and crying in the moment to superhero's who called on their Aquaman powers when retelling the tale days later! LOL PS - The tube rentals are ALL DAY until closing (7pm). Cost was $8/tube with a dollar off coupon for checking-in on yelp. BE SAFE and enjoy! 2022 / 93
