We went up to see the ranch and Luke gave our family a great tour. We were able to get reservations a week later for dinner and were truly left in awe. The ambiance, the wine, the food, EVERYTHING was incredible! Our waiter Winston was superb and very kind. Looking forward to visiting and dining at Cataloochee Ranch again.

The destination whenever we have company staying with us is to dine at Switchback Restaurant! The staff is always incredibly welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and delightful. The food is over the top every single time. Last night we had the Crudo, bread, service, beef, tartare, for our entrées, the duck, trout, Mac/cheese, mushrooms, frittes (French fries) and persimmon cheesecake. All to rave over! Thank you again and Megan we love you ... we'd love always having you as our server!

Our friends set up this ride, and it was just amazing! The folks here are Lind and caring and focused on ensuring a great experience and safety. Maddie is a wonderful guide and the horses are well kept and behaved! They are doing a huge renovation cutrently that will be beautiful when completed. Will definitely go agaiin!

Beautiful place! All around it's an amazing experience. Best steak I've ever had in my life! The vibes are 10/10.

This is a must enjoy restaurant! The food is amazing from breakfast through dinner. The staff is so nice and courteous and brings an excellent service everytime. So much to do on property! Would love to stay here some time but for now I'll just enjoy some meals!

This review is just for the Hemphill Bald trail. I was visiting Asheville without a car and the local paper advertised a donation based hike with the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy via carpool. Perfect! An easy 45 minute drive outside of downtown Asheville, this is perfect for a quick or last minute day hike. You can choose longer trails if you have more time too. The mountains were beautiful and I got to pet some friendly horses. The trail is easy to moderate, some places were muddy and rocky but I did fine without a walking stick, and with one it would be a breeze.

Chef Jeb Aldrich is exceptionally skilled and enjoying his meals is not to be missed!

CR recently completed an extensive renovation including a new lodge for dining and events with a captivating bar. The space opens up in almost every direction to field stone patios and sweeping views. It is magical! Chef Jeb Aldrich is award winning for obvious reasons ~ every dish has been memorable. We've enjoyed their various events including Oktoberfest, Thanksgiving and Kentucky Derby Day. The spa and wine cellar are close to completion and we hope to attend one of the intimate tasting dinners they have planned. The Chef and owners are committed to sourcing locally even aging their own meats. They are expanding even further by venturing into raising cattle. The infamous Hungarian Mangalitsa pig is treasured here too! It's easily the world's best swine breed and perfect for charcuterie with its unique silky fat profile. This is a world class experience and not to be missed. All of the cabins are completely renovated with some standing brand new. The passion for the ranch is evident in the entire staff. They are welcoming, warm and the utmost professional. I'm over the moon about this gem sitting right here in western NC!

This is a fantastic place to rent a cabin and explore the stunning Appalachian countryside. In the morning head into the main ranch house- you'll sit down to have breakfast with the family who owns the ranch and in the evenings you'll get treated to a fantastic home cooked meal. We had an incredible experience mingling with other guests at the communal table and finished up the night drinking wine and telling stories in front of the fire. Accommodations are quaint, bedding comfortable and showers were hot. This isn't a luxury hotel- but it is a step back in time and a wonderful home grown experience.

We went today for Thanksgiving and I have to say, the food was awful. The view was nice but the food was terrible. Don't come here for food.

We were only there for a weekend, so we didn't use the kitchen, dvd player, etc. But, we did use the hot tub! Nights and mornings were in the 50's and breezy (aka cold wind!) and the hot tub was great for both morning and night. The creek running past is calming and drowns out any sounds from town. The convenience of the location with the privacy, make this cabin perfect. As others have commented on their website, the cleanliness was amazing! The hot tub was already hot when we showed up and there was a treat in the fridge, yummy! The drive to Cherokee is easy, and passes by Bearmeats Indian Den, one of the few shops with real hand crafted goods. Be sure to stop by there. The furniture was comfortable. Furniture and décor is typical styling for a rental cabin, but in much better shape than many I have seen. The pictures are true to what is there. I slept so soundly in the bed, I didn't even wake during the rainstorm. The kitchen, although we didn't use it, was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. needed for cooking. Plenty of silverware, plates, cups, and mugs for 2-4 people. Washer and drier were great to have available. We used the dryer and it worked fine. We did not use the grill, but there is one available. There is one flaw, and that is the shower. It is small. My husband is 6' and ~170lbs and it was tight. The shower served its purpose, but if you are larger, consider one of their other cabins. This shower would not deter us from coming again, we absolutely would! I just want to include that so others can pick which cabin is perfect for them. Madeline clearly takes pride in her cabins and will gladly help you pick out the right one. When I called, I had it narrowed down to 2 and she told me more about each. She wanted to make sure we loved it as much as she does.

The employees in the office of Carolina Vacations are very kind and polite. Although the fact that i have to drive out of my way to their office to get keys is antiquated. I generally am able to settle contractual and payment matters online before i arrive, and use an electronic lock or lockbox, since almost all properties have wifi these days. Round trip, an hour of my life that I wont get back. I showed up at check in time , and the receipt and keys were not ready. Gladly waited in their lobby because it allowed me the opportunity to charge my cell phone and do a little work online. The receipt still did not agree with my online receipt from the owner that i received online, but i was assured that my card would just be charged for the amount online shown on Home Away. Got to the property after a serene drive through the hills and mountains. Nice looking house. Unlocked the door and would throughout. Unfortunately the downstairs had not been cleaned at all as each room downstairs either had dirty towels, unmade beds or trash. Upstairs looked like it had been picked up, but not cleaned. Dissapointing to pay full price, a cleaning fee, and a hot tub cleaning fee for a dirty house. Carolina Vacations needs to step up their property management game.

The place is dog friendly as long as you have a crate and keep in leash ( which is fine we do that anyway) Upon coming into cottage it was cute, clean and small. Mine had a deck to view mountain and stream. What I didn't like is NO tv service (cable or satellite) for the 32" TV on wall by door. If you do come here, bring a streaming tv device. They do provide internet, but we did not use it. Also, the pet restrictions is too restrictive. Pets are not allowed by themselves if not caged & not allowed on furniture. In booklet, if you leave your dog alone unattended and not caged, a person from management will come knock on your door. If you don't answer and barking persists, you will be charged extra fees. You must empty your own trash in dumpster at entry near unused car wash. Also, restaurants in area are either closed or vastly understaffed. We waited 20 minutes at bar & NOBODY checked on us, so we left and drove to Waynesville, NC which is 10 miles away. We didn't want buffet style food or family style food. I really rather stayed in Cherokee, NC which to my surprise had more things happening, Cherokee museum, bone fire at the river park, plenty of shopping, some restaurants, but not many hotels pet friendly. Wish I could have recommended this place but because of above comments I cannot. You make your own decision. Also bring your own soap, toiletries, dish soap, etc. They do have plates and silverware, coffee pot, pots & pans, small microwave. Also, there is a gated pool.
