I've been going to this practice for many years and always a great experience when I go in for my annual visit and cleanings.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE YOU WILL NOT BE HERE LOG AND HAVE FUN WITH ALL TH UPSALES THEY FORGET TO MENTION UNTIL YOU COMEBACK TO A BILL Talk about a list of items I can say bad, it always seems once a place tries to grow they lose focus of a customer, how to treat, talk to and be polite we all have bad days, but the front desk is more concerned with playing on there phones and gossiping to other front desk people, when a customer loses their name and only become a billing number its time to move on.... ohhh we slid on extra charges, were rude when you walk in, and as long as you pay everything, my son cleaning was pretty much skipped after a half!$# cleaning, the last visit I had I was told sorry the dentist is busy we cleaned your good to go it will be to long... my wife goes in and instead of hello how are you its nothing other than name lol basically hearing patient ID, so we can charge you ,,, We have different insurances and after my last visit I told then I was swithing insurance to new carrier,,, your good to go.. I show up hand them my insurance card of sorry we can't take this you need a new dentist.. I was like wait I was told I was good sorry not this plan.. Whie there I told them my son who has his own insurance moved to Texas.. Well once again they tried to milk the last ounce of money, now back to my wifes current appointment YOU NEED TO PAY THIS, my wife states that I (husband) took care of this.. response was MAAM IF YOU WANT TO BE SEEN YOUR GONNA PAY!! SO she cancels her appointment after being talked down to for minutes,, on the way out the girl states now you owe 150$$ I called up there and tried to remind someone that this had been taken care of after being on hold for 10 mins... A new person comes on and 1st thing out of her mouth was a laugh(snort) rudest person you could speak to like I am child says DONT CARE ITS YOUR FAULT HER FAULT BLAHH BLAHH YOU WILL PAY US AND WE DONT CARE IF YOU ARE HAPPY WE ARE IN THIS TO MAKE MONEY WE DONT LIKE TO WAVE FEESS OR FREE MONEY read more

This place is a scam. On setting my initial appointment, I was adamant, it was to get my teeth cleaned. When I got there, they went through their sales pitches and brought in the doctor to try and convince me to replace my fillings despite this not being an issue. They then told me there would not be enough time for a cleaning and I would have to come back. They charged me $50 and forced me into a separate appointment for the filling replacement before I could schedule for the cleaning. When I came back for the cleaning, all they did was scrape my teeth and charge me another $50. read more

I am transferring my records due to the unprofessionalism of Kayla at the front desk. She has been unprofessional not once but twice and I can see the dental practice did not do anything the first time so she assumes it was okay to be rude again today! I have chosen to move my dental records to a professional dental office! Since I have been coming here two dentists I was seeing have left. I wonder how many patients have left and will continue to leave?? This dentist office better do something about Kayla at the front desk or they will lose more patents I'm sure! I really loved this dentist office, but my last two interactions have been enough to push me away. The customer service has gotten so bad. When I called to confirm my appointment, the person on the phone told me it was cancelled because they hired new hygienists and had to redo the schedule. After asking some questions, I found out the my hygienist was working at my appointment time, but they have given the appointment to someone else and that I could reschedule in months. Wtf? This is not how you run a business and it is certainly not the way this office was ran In the past. My previous visit was also pushed back without warning, while this was really infuriating, I looked the other way. Then when I show up for my appointment, my dentist isn't even there. I hate to write negative reviews, but I do think people should know about a practice before they book an appointment. Gastonia Family Dentistry is now a no from me. I've been going to Gastonia Family Dentistry for several years. Yesterday I called to get in to see them for the most awful toothache I have ever had. I called first thing in the morning and was told they would talk to, my dentist, Dr. Briggs and call me back. Almost two hours later, not having gotten at call back, I called again and was told that they could not get me in for a visit. I again explained the pain I was having and that was awake all night because of it., but they still said they couldn't get me in. I ask when was the soonest they could see me and was told the next Monday, seven days later. I ended up having to go to Charlotte Emergency Dentistry where I was able to get in that morning and get the tooth pulled. I will be looking for a new Dentist in my area after this. read more

Dr Drake is so patient and thorough. I don't know the name of the hygienist but she is equally wonderful. I read some of the other reviews and not sure if they are scoring the same place. The staff up front are kind and knowledgeable. I had 2 emergency situations come up and they got me in both times within 24 hours. I would most definitely recommend this office. This place is an absolute scam. We have had a family dentist for over 20 years and only made an appointment here because they took insurance. Only needed a cleaning but they refused to take my records from my dentist and said they need new xrays and said I needed a deep cleaning even though this was not true. They then did a quick basic cleaning and claimed it was a deep cleaning. IT WAS NOT! Then they charged $2200! And guess what my insurance claim maximum is...$2200! $2200 FOR A BASIC CLEANING!!! I am probably the one and only person that likes to go to the dentist. I love having my teeth cleaned, and having procedures doesn't bother me. I have probably some of the worst genetics and results of medications teeth could have. I had one pulled last year, and a cleaning. I found the office to be wonderfully clean the staff super friendly and nice, and for the first time ever I did not have dry socket! Recently, the office called me, they needed to reschedule my cleaning appointment. The woman on the phone apologized profusely, and I said that truly in this climate it was not a problem, I am happy to wait so that someone more urgent can get in. Apparently the woman had been getting horrible comments when she had to call other patients, all kinds of cussing and yelling at her. I told her I was very sorry to hear that, and she will never find that in our home, we understand these things, and anything we can do to help the effort we will do. I thanked her and the Doctor for being IN the office doing the work. She said I made her day, just because I was nice to her. People, if you glean nothing else from my review, please take this away: we all need to be kind to each other, we need to respect each other, and we need to have patience for our professionals who are risking their own health and safety for us. ABSOLUTELY livid. Researched my insurance coverage. Discussed in detail l my coverage, had them reach out to my insurance to verify it all, told them not to do anything I was not covered for. PAID everything I was told I would owe in full. Now I get a bill, the first bill, saying I have a past due amount. Lady on the phone is OBSTINATE. Will not listen, talked down to me like I was stupid. Pushed me to the point of losing it. Refused a supervisor. I have been going to this dentist for years. I even had my parents switch to them. I had a recent appointment time of 1pm. I drove from Belmont and was behind schedule. I walked in the door at 1:08pm. The front desk girl was checking me in and about to collect a fluoride pay (which I didn't want), when she was interrupted by the dental hygienist who pulled the receptionist to the side. When she returned she said she couldn't take me and I had to reschedule because it's already 10 after, the grace period passed. If she would have checked me in upon arrival instead of delaying I would have gotten my year end cleaning. I tried to let them know I came from working and I'm on my lunch break and the receptionist stated "she has things to do after the appt as well".... It's apparent that the hygienist and receptionist has no customer service skills. I was so upset because I tried my hardest to make it there just to be turned away because the hygienist didn't want to see me. The grace period is not upon check in - it's upon arrival!!! The dentists at this location are great, I've even had a few great hygienists and usually great experiences.... Lately my experience has been downhill... Please train your front desk receptionists and hygienists on soft skills and how a "grace" period works. I feel like they look for any reason to reschedule or cancel!!! So I know you don't know what you're looking at. Let me share. You're looking at the birth of my new front tooth. I went to eat breakfast this morning, bit down into a piece of bacon and my tooth snapped in half. I picked up the phone, called my dentist who told come on in, and I will walk out today with a brand new spanking tooth. I will not wait two weeks while it sent to some lab in Egypt (or wherever they send them) and I will get that tooth at a reasonable price. You walk into music of your choice, a dentist that sings, and staff that is happy to be here. I never thought I would say I love going to the dentist but I do. These guys discharged me as a patient because I ask how much the procedure that day was going to cost before I would sign Informed Consent which was placed in front of me as the office had promised they would call me before my appointment to let me know and they never did. I am a very Professional and easy going Physician in Gaston County and I never behave poorly or even in a questionable manner ever. This office had me on my 3rd dentist within 2 years which I didn't mind, but they told me that the first one was out with Shoulder Surgery when I first went there and after they switched me to my second dentist I was sitting in the chair waiting to meet with the Lady to pay for the visit and out walks the dentist that I had began with with full work attire on and when he saw me he literally looked like he saw a ghost. The worst part is that it has been just over 3 months since they discharged me from office and they owe me money for a Dental Implant that they started and I pre-paid the total amount of the implant and I guess they did what they do best, If they will keep that money for that time frame and not reimburse me they will do anything! Me and my son have been coming here for a few years and my son is always sooo excited to go to the dentist (he's 7 and jumps for joy to get his teeth cleaned) and today my 2 year old got to tag along for her first cleaning and she wasn't thrilled but all the staff were so patient with her. I love how easily they schedule me and my family to all come in together. They're all so sweet and understanding and honest. I couldn't love this place more! They really take care of me and my kids when we come and don't make me feel like a burden when I have my kids with me and offer to keep them entertained when it's not their job to do so, they really go above and beyond for us and I'm so appreciative of them!! read more

I made appointments for a family of 4 as new patients. When i made the appointments, I scheduled out to be able to get a 7am due to our work schedules. My husband is first, goes in for his first appointment and is told his appt was cancelled because he never returned the call to confirm and he has to go on a waiting list. If you have such a ridiculous rule to return the call for an appt reminder. TELL SOMEONE WHEN THEY MAKE A NEW PATIENT APPT FROM OUT OF STATE! We make appointments for a reason, and if you are going to have such a ridiculous rule, try calling more than once. Cancelled all of our appointments and will definitely not be doing business with this lack of professionalism and inconvenience. Horrible practice. read more

Since this practice recently switched hands, we have had nothing but issues with every visit. The staff lies and the business operates with unethical business practices. They charge you for procedures you did not have. They provide you with a receipt that lists certain procedures were done and your EOB shows additional procedures were added. They over charge for procedures. Procedures that your insurance covers at 100%, they charge you for them and then refuse to refund those fees. They do not answer the phone and do not return your call when a message is left. This really makes me sad and frustrated, because I have been a patient at this practice for over 20 years and have never had the issues that are being encountered now. read more

For the most part I love this practice and the work they do is wonderful. The issue I have is with the insurance and scheduling department. I have had and issue with them not having appointments that I have confirmed and made. I literally stood at the desk for a half hour getting an appointment scheduled and situated, come to find out they did not have it in the system the day I called to confirm my own appointment. This has happened twice. Then with insurance, I had to take it upon myself to call my provider to see what was covered and tell them at the insurance desk. I worked in a dental office as an assistant and at the front desk/insurance, it is not the customers job to check and do a preauthorization. I literally had 50-70 percent off my procedure and they were going to charge me just a about full price without checking my coverage first. It seems no one knows what is going on. I don't ever write reviews but this has got to change....they are all friendly and I appreciate the wonderful dentistry but the organization and scheduling needs improvement read more

My entire family, including my two 8 year olds go to this dental practice. They are always friendly and accommodating. I've even been able to add on a filling visit when a cavity was discovered during my cleaning. We don't usually wait very long for our appointments - maybe 15 minutes on a busy day. read more

I decided to come here for the first time yesterday after reading positive reviews and then checking out the staff when viewing their website. I do this to see if the employees look like nice people or if they are doing that fake smile bullcrap you see when people are forced to be really nice but their eyes say otherwise. They all looked like real people for the most part so I decided to go. Reading some reviews had me going there with high expectations and even those were exceeded. The dentist and staff I worked with seemed very eager to make sure you were comfortable and would address any concerns. Everyone seemed like genuinely good people. There was none of that cold clinical, dismissive, apathetic attitude in any of the staff members I interacted with, such as what I often notice among many jaded medical professionals at your doctor's office or hospital. The dentist and his assistant were great as they went above and beyond to address any concerns and actually listen to you. It was impressive and I look forward to coming to this dentist's office for my current and future dental needs. I am very happy to have found this place. Having dental work is very uncomfortable but they make it nearly as pleasant as I could imagine, aside from just shooting my entire body with Novocain and sending me out into a street brawl tournament, which is something I'd try to do for fun if I could feel no pain. I had not been to the dentist in a while because of insurance and switching jobs. Finally got steady insurance and got a coupon for teeth whitening from this dentist in an email and decided to go in for a cleaning. The only thing done were xrays and pictures. I was told I had periodontal disease and bone loss and have never had so much as a cavity (and I'm 29.) They wanted me to come back two separate times for "scaling and planing" and only then would they talk about cleaning my other teeth at a third appointment. I was told I would never be able to have a "normal" cleaning again and that I would have to come back every three months for cleanings. Decided to get a second opinion and went to a different dentist. At this appointment my teeth were cleaned on my first visit, nothing was said about periodontal disease or bone loss , and the dentist told me I had "beautiful healthy teeth". I have had family members that have had similar dealing with this office. This is a bait and switch dentist and I would stay away. If you read their reviews on Google there is a lady named Jenny R who had the exact same experience here as I had. DO NOT GO HERE!!! There's no need to call to "further discuss treatment plans" as they have suggested I do when I wrote a review elsewhere. I already got a second opinion from a more honest practice and was reassured through xrays and tests that I know 100% were mine that I have none of the problems this practice told me that I did. I will never go back to this Dentistry again. When I started as a new patient it was 2016 and I loved the staff and the Dr. Dr Pope was personable and so were the staff. When Dr Pope left, the staff changed. I was accused of lying twice, the first time I made an appointment online, but when I showed for my appointment time, the woman at the desk said that I did not have an appointment. I told her I had made the appointment online and she said " that's impossible, you aren't on my calendar" I told her I had proof I had made the appointment, I had an email and she told me to come around to her desk so she could show me her calendar. It wasn't a big deal, it just didn't sync. But she continued to tell me the appointment had not been made instead of helping me with another time to come in. The second time I had problems was yesterday some one called me and asked me to come in at 7:30 am and that it would cost more than what they had quoted me. I called the office back to confirm the time and the lady who answered said she wasn't aware of anyone calling me and changing my time. And the third time and why my final decision of no longer being a patient, came today. When you make an appointment you tell them why your coming in, so the assistant came and got me 10 minutes late and took me back to the room. She said " why are you here today?", "what are you having problems with?" I thought it was odd and she wasn't very nice about it. So I began telling her "I have 4 bottom front teeth that are loose and I came to get options for taking care of what I had" she then says "No, what's going on today, why are you here" with a nasty attitude I was shocked, why did she ask me again? And why with that attitude? I was done, why do I have to sit there with her asking aggressively why I was there, when #1 it's in my chart #2 I had already told her. Then I was so upset at her attitude and me having to explain again (I have Epilepsy and I was hot and getting upset) she told the other assistants I lied about her. For what purpose? I don't know her, I didn't have an agenda but to get my teeth fixed. The office did not call me to apologize. Needless to say my husband and I are not going back! read more

Been going here since 2009 when it was first Dr. Godel. Never had a problem until he left. The office cannot file insurance correctly. I had to help them because they are always saying we had a balance when we didn't. If you are in-network you don't pay the difference but they would bill us. Then the latest is Jessica said I would owe more for a crown than the insurance did and I would have to pay the difference. We pay 50-50. She rudely said she had been doing this for 10 yrs. I talked to my insurance so she sent off a predetermination and I was right and once again they were wrong. They lost 2 people because of that. This place had me feeling so comfortable and relaxed when I was so nervous about getting my wisdom tooth pulled. Everyone in the building is exceedingly friendly and caring, I have never been to a place where 100% of the staff had the same great level of niceness and hospitality. I had a terrible infection in my wisdom tooth and the team was extremely quick and efficient when it came to my new patient exam. I scheduled the extraction for one week later and I was so nervous that whole week. Upon being seen by the dental assistants getting me ready, my nervousness was already fading away. Special thanks to Edgar who took my mind off of the procedure with friendly conversation; he was so nice and so personable, his bedside manner was outstanding. I felt totally comfortable as I was getting shot up with the numbing stuff, they were gentle but thorough. Dr. Hill is a fantastic dentist, my comfort was ensured throughout the beginning middle and end of my procedure and the whole thing was done in under 20 minutes. (3 cavities and the wisdom tooth) I felt zero pain the entire time and I was given thorough instructions on how to care for my mouth post op, along with three different pain relievers and an antibiotic. Dr. Hill said the antibiotic was probably unnecessary but I was so scared of another infection after my first one that he prescribed it for me anyways and that made me feel even more comfortable than I already was. When I got home I was looking forward to the eventual bruising, swelling and pain that I was warned about once the numbness wears off but there was NONE. Zero, swelling bruising or pain or discomfort of any type and I was taking the ibuprofen very minimally. I'm amazed at the ease that this procedure was done with, everything went smoother than I could have imagined. And they let me keep my tooth! My little sister was delightfully grossed out and amazed by it. Please if you need dental care go to Gastonia Family Dentistry and they'll take amazing care of you. read more

Rip off. Bait and switch. Talked me into getting periodontal cleaning from them. They never told me it the charges and I didn't ask because it was part of my plan at my periodontist. End up charging $250 above plan. Then, when I go in for next regular cleaning, they say I cannot use the cleaning in my plan because the periodontal cleaning is separate. What? All of this after the fact, and they knowing what I was not paying for. Baloney! They quoted me a price for a bridge in the chair and then wanted to charge me $100 more when I was done. I had to fight to get them to give me the price they promised. Do not use these people. They will rip you off! read more

Great place to get teeth work done.. Atmosphere is pretty good.. 2 thumbs up. Definitely going back for more in the future.
