Great place for hand crafted Barista Drinks and breakfast foods. The coffees are from a local small batch roaster in Coffee County. The Cafe is a program of the non profit Carpe Artista which provides Career training in Entertainment and the Arts. Of course culinary is an art expression and creatives need coffee. All the food is now created through a partnership with another non profit called Sweet Addiction. Their mission is to provide culinary and business training for women coming out of addiction recovery and human trafficking. They now use the Cafe Kitchen and prepare the great quiches and Cinnamon rolls and other fresh baked goods using Carpe Cafe's long time recipes. My wife and I were in town visiting her niece. I found this place wayyy before we got to Smyrna because I know that she needs her coffee in the morning (I know my wife). People seemed to rave about this place and, once we stepped inside, we could see why. This place is all about the arts, which you can see in the decor and the community sponsored events that they hold. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the lady and young man who were working. They have a bunch of different drinks as well as lots of food choices. If we weren't getting on the road to head back to Florida, we would have sat down and had some breakfast. My wife ordered a coconut latte and I ordered a chai latte. She said that her coffee was perfect, which I just have to take her word for because I'm not a coffee fan. My chai was also good, but I was expecting a slightly sweetened version and this was two tea bags in hot half and half (I'm a breve kinda person). I didn't start drinking it until we were in the car and down the road. Had I known it wasn't sweetened, I would have asked for some simple syrup. That said, I usually drink my bagged tea without sugar, so I wasn't completely put off by this. The only interesting thing is that it was almost $5 for the chai, which was a little confusing considering what it consisted of. Regardless, this is a great place to frequent and I'm all about supporting small businesses! We'll definitely be back if we're ever back in Smyrna. read more

I'm in town for only a couple of days, but my crew needed some caffeine and this place was just down the street. I got to say, the cold brew I had was one of the best cold brews I've ever had. After moving to Smyrna (and mourning the loss of my Nashville zip code), Carpe Cafe has lifted my spirits with their delicious lattes and delectable breakfast casseroles. Being a full-time freelancer, this is the perfect workspace. Plentiful tables, never too crowded, and a creative environment. Pro: tons of free parking. Con: hide and seek outlets for laptops. As if Carpe Cafe didn't already hold my heart, I found out they're a non-profit also holding art classes and being run mostly by volunteers. Carpe Cafe is simply the best place around. Sure, their coffee is delicious, their food really good (and cheap!), and they have an amazingly creative space, but it's their mission here that sets Carpe apart from any place else. Carpe is the fundraising arm of a local community arts organization, and it's ran mostly by volunteers. It's nothing to see the CFO wipe down tables. Don't let that scare you - it's easy to think you'll be served crummy food by people who couldn't cook to save their lives - but I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. Their ham sandwich stack is my favorite. As a freelancer, I'm happy to come here and work a few times a week. I'm also more than happy to support such an amazing local organization. The atmosphere is nice...homey. I really enjoy their coffee selections. The staff is friendly. The food is basic. Their signature stack sandwich is something anyone could make at home. It took quite a while just to get the sandwich, too. The place didn't seem that crowded so that couldn't have been their excuse for slow service. I like that they offer free wi-fi. It's a nice place to sit and drink a cup of coffee and relax. Their desserts looked good but I did not try any. Parking is also an issue. There isn't any close by. read more

Amazing experience! Everything was excellent! My son has been a student of the Academy for years and we rarely make it to the square. Our breakfast was terrific. The quiche melts in your mouth and the breakfast burrito was perfection. My Canon coffee was very large and better than all the popular places. And my son, he tried a steamed milk. That in itself was a fun and surprisingly yummy experience. Wow! We have been missing out. Not the easiest place to find parking for, but more than worth any trouble. Went in for a visit on 4 May 2016 because I was in the area for work. On Yelp's recommendation. A nice little cafe with outdoor seating and on the inside it was very cosy and it appeared to have an area for music performances though during my brunch time visit there was no one singing or playing. I wanted a nice light breakfast with vegetables so I ordered the breakfast casserole. It was a simple $4 light fare dish that was served in a nice little earthenware dish. I also got some of the house coffee. The coffee was decent. The casserole was like an omelette and had all the vegetables I wanted baked in. Really nice, and inexpensive breakfast. Do yourself a favour and skip the McDonalds and give the Carpe Cafe a visit. Your stomach and your body will thank you. read more

I had the Carpe Grog decaf coffee and it was really, really tasty; so tasty, in fact, that I bought some to take home. As the name suggests, there is a sweet and alight boozy taste to it which is enhanced with a little cream. My traveling companion has been there before and said the quiche is to die for! This is an art based coffee house with wonderful food and great service. A friend of mine and my family met there before starting off on a brief vacation. We'd heard of them, they have been on campus at Motlow Community College (where I am and adjunct), and decided to give it a try. First impressions are important, and you are greeted at the front door by the first dining area. It was very inviting with artwork displayed on all the walls. The counter is in an interior room and was well organized. They have live music in the evenings and there are many flyers posted announcing various festivals and concerts. Service was wonderful. Everything is made fresh, so don't expect fast food service times. I had a latte which was served in huge mug and was wonderful. I also had the potato casserole. It was great to taste a good recipe that was not a knock-off of a chain offering of the same. My wife got the cinnamon roll. The thing was huge and very tasty. She enjoyed her coffee as well. Also my girlfriend ordered a buy one get two coffee and did not ask for the second one that day, and she came back a few days later and they remembered her. We were passing by and decided to try something new. We saw this spot and when in to eat. Service was pretty good and food was a little below average. Co-workers had to send there soup back because they were cold and the bacon on our sandwiches were not cooked. After you are done, you had to put up your own dishes and they ask for a tip in advance of your order and you eating. I understand the coffee and apple cider was good. Carpe Cafe aka Carpe Astista is a non-profit coffee shop that not only has a variety of coffees that rotate throughout the week which you can get a bottomless mug of coffee at the self serve station of, or order a drink with a large variety of flavors. I recommend the latte with gingerbread flavoring. They have salads, soups, sandwiches, fresh fruit, wraps, desserts, and more. Prices are about $5-$8 for a entrée and side dish (soup, salad, chips, etc). The staff are super friendly and they really seem to care about helping the community regain its artistic and musical side. I absolutely love this place and love the people. They have great coffee, great staff, great food, and they are doing great things for the town of Smyrna TN. read more

We went here for my birthday breakfast. It was during depot days in smyrna. From all the great reviews we were excited to try this place. The menu looked great and had something for everyone. That's exactly where the excitement ended. My mom and I ordered hot lattes. They both came out Luke warm, they might have been good if they were hot as we expected. ( not drinkable). Out comes the food. We will start with my husband he got a breakfast burrito it was small and had very little filling ( but he said it tasted good). My mother got the quiche and a side of fruit. The quiche was different bc it doesn't have a crust but she said it was fluffy and tasted good ( but that it seemed like it came from the microwave as it was really hot in some places and Luke warm in others, the side of fruit was disgusting it was old rotting strawberries and shriveled up blueberries ( not edible). Now to my meal. I ordered the CALIFORNIA'S LOVE sandwich and a side of potato casserole. I picked up my sandwich to take a bite and there is no Turkey on it. It's the first ingredient on the list on the menu. My husband took my sandwich back to the counter to show the girls theirs no Turkey on my sandwich. The girl looks at him like hes crazy, he even opens up the sandwich to show her no Turkey. She then gets the menu and looks at it as if she doesn't even know what goes on the sandwich. She then goes and checks the receipt to see if we asked for no Turkey ( really if I asked for no Turkey why would I bring it back?). So now the girl takes the sandwich and throws some gross plain processed turkey on it. ( it was also missing the pickled onions but I was not going to bring it back again.) the potato casserole had good flavor but again wasn't hot. This was a waste of money. read more

First time here, awesome experience! I work in outside sales and am in the Smyrna, TN area a lot. Unlike most of the chain coffee shops (yes, you know the one) Carpe Cafe has a really cozy, welcoming feel. The music was just right, listenable, but not too loud so as to detract from being able to think and carry on a conversation. The barista was very friendly, exemplifying great customer service in making sure that my latte was just what I wanted. There is a lot of room and very comfortable seating here. I have my iPad and am taking time to do some work while waiting to meet a customer. I absolutely can not wait to come back with my wife, friends, customers, or whoever. This is going to be my go-to place! It will bring me in from miles away! Really cute place! Good variety of tea and coffee and I like how they have the menu displayed. That said, it is soooo slooooow. I haven't been there yet and gotten even a basic drink in under 15 minutes. I think they also have a lot of regulars/staff that hands out when it's shift which can be a little distracting, but ya know. Cute place if you have a lot of time to burn! read more
