First Watch is always a popular brunch spot, and my recent visit was a mix of hits and misses. I started with the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, but they just weren't for me. The texture was dense, dry, and crumbly--more like cornbread than the soft, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth pancakes I was expecting. They lacked the moist, buttery richness I personally look for in a great pancake. To be fair, that may be their intended style, but it wasn't what I had hoped for. The staff was accommodating, and I exchanged the pancakes for scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and seasoned potatoes. That plate was much more enjoyable. The eggs were fluffy, the potatoes were nicely seasoned with a good crisp on the outside, and the turkey sausage was a solid choice. I also sampled the Turkey Sausage Biscuits & Gravy. The dish was comforting and satisfying, but it could have benefited from a little more seasoning. A touch more sage in the sausage would have added the savory depth that makes biscuits and gravy truly memorable. One of the highlights of the meal was the fresh juice selection. The Morning Meditation was refreshing with a bright blend of orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, beet, and agave. The lavender drink was equally delicious, light, floral, and refreshing without being overpowering. If you're visiting First Watch, I highly recommend trying one of their fresh juices. Overall, while the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes missed the mark for me, the fresh juices, eggs, potatoes, and turkey sausage made for a pleasant brunch experience. Met my daughter for late lunch and she wanted a restaurant with great cold coffee options that also serve food. We decided on First Watch. Great choice after all. First - the parking lot is large and easy to get in/out. Second - we went in at 12:40 and were seated immediately. Lots of tables to handle a crowd. Third - Haley was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. My daughter got the honey caramel crunch iced coffee, and we checked the menu. Haley gave us perfect amount of time to decide and I chose the biscuits and gravy side along with the seasoned potatoes. Very delicious, and the portion was just right to not feel too stuffed but also feel satisfied. Haley got me a drink to go as we were leaving. I noticed every one working was smiling and courteous. This place is one of my favorite breakfast places. It never misses!!! Service was amazing. Every time I go I always pair it with one of their juices which goes together so nicely. It's one of those breakfast places that you just want to take your friends and family to. The inside is very clean and well organized with the amount of customers coming in each time. We were really disappointed with our visit. My "poached" eggs came out overcooked (like a boiled egg), my husband's were severely undercooked, and the potatoes weren't done. Even when the eggs were remade, it took 15 minutes and by then the rest of our food was cold. The pumpkin pancake had good flavor but was raw in the center, and they were also out of regular pancake batter and pumpkin donuts. Our waitress was kind, but service was slow. Visited Oct 19, 2023. I had the day off therefore brought my daughter here for a mommy and me date. I usually have a pretty decent experience. This day was not one of those days. I checked in online to speed up the wait time but it seems that it had the opposite effect. After I checked in and sat down I watched the host seat everyone who walked in after my check in first before attending to the virtual que. I was pretty upset. I went up to see when he'll seat me and he then said 'oh i was just about to call you guys'. Indeed he was because I was now standing there, but if I hadn't then he would have continued seating everyone else standing behind me before getting back onto the virtual que. From check-in to being seated took 22 mins. My mistake was sitting down after checking in. Everyone who walked in said they were just walk ins so I was feeling frustrated because after 20m I'm committed to the wait and do not want to drag out a hangry toddler to wait somewhere else. After being seated the server was nice but also forgetful. Food was good, decent size. The drink ordered was not good - Honey Caramel Crunch, it just had an awful aftertaste. Came here for lunch with three other people and a baby. We opted for outdoor seating so we could sit right away. I am kicking myself for not getting the name of the server because she was AMAZING. She checked on us regularly and food came out in a reasonable time. The only thing we would change about our meals were the following: my shrimp and grits and my sisters farmhouse hash had sundried tomatoes, but the menu advertised house roasted/regular tomatoes. Great atmosphere and customer service at this beautiful First Watch location! From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with smiling faces and seated with no wait. Our server was awesome and made it an even more enjoyable experience! I ordered the Chorizo Omelet and it was absolutely delicious. My recommendation would be to get hollandaise sauce on top! We have been to a number of these across the country, and when we arrived in town looking for a late brunch we saw this was in the neighborhood, so we stopped in. It was every bit as good as all the other locations that we have been to. Great food, great service, and very reasonable pricing. My wife got the Breakfast Power Bowl, which was a huge serving of quinoa, sausage, veggies, and 2 eggs. I'm some other locations they use meat substitutes, but this was 'real' meat sausage. I got the Baja Turkey Burger, which was a very tasty turkey patty with toppings that complemented the sandwich very nicely. It was a blast of fresh flavors. Our server, Mona, was exceptionally pleasant and attentive. All of the other employees that we encountered on the visit were equally pleasant, and I can see how that might be challenging as we were there right before closing. 1 of my favorite breakfast joints. My go-to is the Tri-Fecta: waffle, turkey sausage with scrambled eggs. That raspberry sauce that comes with the waffle, breathtaking. Since they are now serving mimosas made me a fan even more so I've ordered the Cranberry Mimosa. I'm usually here eating by myself or with my sister. Restaurant is sitting in a shared private lot. It was EXTREMELY cold in the building but I will attribute that to being early in the morning and the weather being finicky the past week. Our waiter was very patient and accommodating. My egg was already running, and the egg white had ripped before she brought out my plate, and when I told her this didn't look correct, she tried to tell my what a poached egg was like I don't eat eggs, Benedict, ALL THE TIME! I think I know what it's supposed to look and taste like. Anyways, I sent the plate back and ordered the traditional, but I felt like the potatoes were way too soft, the egg portion was skimpy. Here I am again! I come here for breakfast everyone I visit nashville. Either this store or the hermitage store. I tried something new this time. I always order the avocado toast with cheese grits but this time decided to try something new. They have a new fall menu so I opted for something from it. It's called Modern Croque Madam. I enjoyed it but was disappointed to notice the poster on the door had tomato on it and I didn't get any. Oh well. I still enjoyed it and of course I love their cheese grits here. Very busy on a Saturday morning. We put our name in on the waitlist before driving here so I would recommend doing that. We ordered two "shareables" and our entrees. We were never asked but they all came together and they forgot one of our shareable items. We ordered right away but our server did not come back to talk to us until we were halfway done with our entree which our food took almost an hour. The chopped salad was fine but the dressing was broken and didn't seem to fit the type of salad. The menu didn't have any description of the salad or what dressing came with it. I found it odd that a chopped salad had black beans, corn, and tortilla strips. The dressing itself was not very good. After we had to ask for the manager because our cornbread was not delivered, the server brought us one a few minutes later and said it was over cooked and asked if we wanted a different one... like what?? So you knew it wasn't cooked right, you forgot about it anyways, and then you still gave it to us? We asked her why our shareable didn't come out first and her response was "because i didn't do it that way". It's a typical breakfast place with overpriced food and it just felt like once we got our food they tried to shuffle us out of there. This was the best First Watch I've eaten in TN! I actually gave up on this restaurant after eating at the one on 8th Avenue and old hickory. I really need for both of them to take a refresher course on how to make breakfast or just how to make food taste good. As well as not serving cold bread. Or serving an avocado omelette with only two slices of avocado. And then having the nerve to say they don't accept veterans discounts! But really... 8th Ave and Old Hickory need to take the refresher course at the Smyrna location! I was so upset that I ordered a salad because I just knew the food was going to be crappy. I knew the dressing wasn't going to have any taste so I made sure it was on the side. I just knew it really wasn't going to be that good. But I'll be darned! They sure enough made me stand corrected! First watch is awesome. It's right off Sam Ridley - a super busy hwy. There's free parking - and quite a bit but because of all the other shops and restaurants the spots fill up. The employees are super awesome!!!! My waitress made sure that I got everything I needed for my coffee and some! I got the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy- which I never had so she brought out a sample of the gravy so I could try it before I committed! It was delicious!!!! And plenty of it. I got way stuffed.
