Our server was great and attentive and let us sample the gumbo before ordering a full cup. It was spicy and pretty solid choice but more of a jambalaya consistency. The calamari was subpar, it's a cornmeal batter so it didn't really have a taste very bland batter and not sticking to the calamari well. I wouldn't order again. Coconut curry salmon was veryyy good! No matter the time of day or menu offered the food options are good! During brunch you have to try the monkey bread and for dinner the fried green tomatoes with the crispy salmon entree. Even though I love the food, I'm not too fond of the drinks, I've had better. This place can is usually busy and a plus is that service remains good even through the rush. For the price they charge it was not up to par. Extremely disappointed in quality of food for the price. Excellent all the way around. Loved it all. Great selection of hot teas! Hot tea was needed on a snow flurry day like today. And the French onion soup was PERFECTION. No need for me to rave over the food because the photos are great and EVERYTHING was excellent. Just check out the pics. There was a very slight delay in getting our food, but management was here to express their apologies before we could even say anything to each other about the delay. Great service from the waitress and we were immediately sat and the place quickly filled up. It's a cafe and we had lunch so can't speak to the bar scene, but the overall feel is comfortable and not too noisy. I'm haven't been here years and it was for brunch. My small group wanted to meet here for dinner and I was like excited to come back and try their dinner menu. I ordered the crab cakes, which came with mash potatoes and string beans. I am not a string bean person but I pretty much ate them all. It paired well with everything, especially the remoulade. I also had a glass of white Pinot Noir. I gave only tried it once a couple of years ago at a wine tasting, but haven't seen it apart of a restaurant's wine list... it was delicious! With all the amazing and trendy restaurants popping up in Germantown, this place is a breath of fresh air. It's cozy and classic, the food is traditional but not boring, and the drinks are reasonably priced. It's the perfect neighborhood restaurant! We walked in at 7 pm on a Friday night. Our server was delightful, but overall we waited a lot at all points throughout the meal. We didn't mind because we were having good conversation, but it was noticeably slow. The crispy salmon was delish, though I wouldn't have minded if it was less cooked on the inside. Arugula salad was a winner, and the dirty martinis were spot on. We had a meal at Germantown Cafe on Juneteenth 2025 and it did not disappoint. We were visiting from Atlanta and stopped at the National Musuem of African American Music and one of the vendors recommended that we try the restaurant for lunch and RAVED about who delicious their wings and food were. We arrived around 11:30 AM. We were seated within minutes. Our server was quick. She brought out a special menu for Juneteenth. All the drinks on it were $6.19. After reviewing it and asking her for a recommendation, I decided to order an UN fruit tea. It was pretty good. Because of the recommendation from earlier, we decided to order wings, fries and onion rings and my sweet tooth led me to order fried cheesecake. We LOVED the wings. If you're visiting like us, try the trifecta wings. You will not be disappointed. I also liked their onion rings. The fried cheesecake was a bit of an overkill level of sweetness and I did not like it as much, so I would recommend it. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the experience. Not sure how we have missed Germantown Cafe for the past few years, but now it is heavy in the rotation for date nights, brunch and/or cocktails! GTC is one restaurant with two distinct spaces. Dining room where the vibe is slower, darker and caters towards sit down meals. Classic decor, dark colors, ambient lighting and just a chill vibe. The bar area has a wildly different vibe...it is more ski-chalet/lodge feel to it with a working fireplace, ski decor mixed with TV's and sports memorabilia. While the dining room is great, the bar is absolutely where it is at! That's where the real magic happens! The space is smaller and a bit more cozy, with a good-sized bar, casual seating, and booths/high tops. Food wise, we started with the fried green tomatoes, followed by the Chicken Milanese, Plum Pork, and Brussels Sprouts. The fried green tomatoes and Brussels were absolutely phenomenal! The Chicken Milanese was good, but it was a little overcooked for my taste--the breading had some bitter spots and it was overall a bit dry. Once we wrapped dinner, we popped over to the bar for a night cap and to our surprise, at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night, they were in the middle of Happy Hour! A happy hour on a weekend? Unheard of!! We went with a few cocktails, an Espresso Martini for me and my partner went with the GTC Old Fashioned. Both were absolutely delightful! Service in the bar was on point--fast, friendly, and efficient--though a little hit or miss in the dining room. Nothing major, but noticeable. Given location, parking can be a challenge, but there is a dedicated complimentary lot, plus a pay lot on the corner, and of course, street parking if you're lucky. Food is very mediocre and underwhelming for brunch. The pepper jack grits didn't taste super flavorful and were extra watery. The Benedict was alright overall maybe a solid 6-7. You will have to ask for multiple refills on your beverages. Grab any one of the waitresses and then she should get back to you in 5 to 10 minutes with your water refill or your drink refill. The burger is a perfect size they use sweet pickles which aren't my favorite but didn't take away from the sandwich. The wings aren't the traditional size I believe they call them French cut. I have been here many times. Each time is a pleasant experience. This time I had the salmon over a Caesar salad with a side of truffle fries. it was okay. I went to GTC to celebrate my birthday, and I really wish I had chosen somewhere else. We had reservations (party of 3) but still had to stand in the doorway and wait for our table as several other groups walked in and were seated immediately. The server was very aloof and inattentive. We had to flag her down to order drinks and then again to order food. There was barely anyone there, so I'm not sure what was drawing her attention. The cocktails took forever to get to the table, but they were quite delicious. If I were to return, it'd probably just be for drinks. Although, the waiter never gave us a chance to order more than one... The crab cakes were pitiful, tasting like wet bread. They came with green beans which had absolutely no seasoning on them - no salt, no butter, no oil, nothing. They also inexplicably came with mashed potatoes which were okay, but maybe it's because we were hungry. The hamburger was ordered medium temp but arrived far past well done. Again, I was too hungry to wait any longer for a refire. The burger toppings were good, though, and the rosemary fries were good. Everyone raves about the French onion soup, which was decent but definitely tasted more like beef bouillon than caramelized onions. Compared to the other dishes, it was good. Maybe GTC is okay for happy hour, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for full dinner service or special occasions. read more

Took a date here for Valentine's Day. We seated on the bar side? Felt like we were eating at a sports bar. I have to say I have not been there in a few years and I don't remember the menu, but I found this one to be very limited. There wasn't much on there I liked. My date had the fish and it was pretty bland. Broccoli wasn't even seasoned. I had the pork chop and while it was good, the ambience and Bible of the restaurant really let me down. During a recent work trip to Nashville, Tennessee, we had lunch at Germantown Cafe. We had a group reservation, and a long table was set up for us when we arrived. One server managed our table of 12, and since it wasn't very busy, she handled it well--except one team member's food didn't arrive with the rest. I had a fried green tomato sandwich, which was good but a bit heavy on the pimento cheese. What really disappointed us was the check: there was a 20% gratuity (which we expected for a large party), along with extra charges--a 4% Event Production Fee and a 2% Kitchen Love fee. We were not pleased to see that 26% of our check was automatically added. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

Just had dinner with my husband at Germantown Cafe. Our server was Thomas and he was amazing. He anticipated what we needed in advance and had excellent timing. The food was good. We had green chili mac n cheese, Caesar salad, rigatoni, and their dark chocolate mousse tart. It was all good but the dessert was phenomenal. The decor is classy and modern. I live right in the neighborhood, and this place is one of my favorites for a relaxed evening out, especially with friends. It's cozy, warm, and the kind of spot where you can just kick back and enjoy your meal without any fuss. Prices are super reasonable, too, so it's easy to make it a regular dinner spot. Even on busy nights like Fridays or Saturdays, food comes out in no more than 15-20 minutes, which is impressive. The GTC burger is fantastic--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor--while the Garden Patch pasta is fresh, hearty, and full of delicious veggies, however the portion of the pasta was a little on the lower side for the price, burger was on TOP. The only downside is the cocktail menu--it's pretty limited, and the staff weren't super open to customizing off-menu drinks unless they were a basic-3 ingredient cocktails. I asked if they had any flavored syrup for a daiquiri or margarita and was told there were no flavors available, which honestly isn't a huge deal since they have 2 or 3 good cocktails in the menu, it just gets too repetitive once you visit more than a couple times to dine. Still, it's a great spot for a cozy, laid-back dinner. read more

Mixed emotions. First time visit with family and friends and a party of six. Very energetic ambiance, noise was above average. Overall, the service was the extremely slow. While the food was good, we were disappointed that substitutions were made on some of the vegetables. Unfortunately, we were not made aware of this until after the plates were served. Later, we were informed that they were short staff/cooks. Oddly enough, I noticed that guests who arrived much later than my party were served only moments after us. From seating to paying our tab we were in this establishment well over 2 1/2 hours which is way too long. We visited on the MLK holiday. We mistakenly thought they would be serving brunch. Turns out they were only serving their normal Monday lunch. Several people asked about brunch and a few people left when the brunch menu wasn't available. We decided to stay and order lunch. After we ordered, a nearby table was allowed to order brunch! We ordered the $24 cheese plate. It took quite awhile to get it (we got there when they opened). The "daily cheeses" on the plate were cheddar and pepper jack. EVERYTHING on the plate was drizzled with balsamic. The nuts were supposed to be maple glazed but it was just a cup of nuts drowning in a liquid that didn't taste like maple. We had the butternut squash fritters which were good (and came out quickly) but would recommend asking them to hold the ranch. I also ordered the Ginger spice mocktail. It tasted like pink lemonade. I've been to Germantown Cafe a few times now, and the food here never disappoints! I've also brought people here when they are visiting from out of town and they are always impressed by the food. I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The waiters I've had have been very nice and offered great recommendations! I went on a Saturday recently. I booked a 1pm reservation, and was seated at 1:30pm. We ended up squeezing our party of three at a table for two. They mentioned that they were struggling to get groups to adhere to the 2 hour limit on tables. The music was turned up loud and it was full of big groups drinking the mimosas - it looked like a lot of tourists. We could barely hear ourselves talk (I feel old typing this). It might have been a fun vibe, if that's what we were going for! That said, I've also been on a Sunday around 10:30/11am, and found it was much quieter and felt more like a local spot vs. a tourist spot. So, maybe it depends on the day or time that you go! Had a delicious brunch here. My big complaint is that with all of the hard, interior surfaces, the restaurant was very loud. My dining companion and I could not hear each other over the continuously growing roar of people's voices. I wish restaurants would work with acoustic engineers, as a few well placed panels on the ceiling could really change this to an enjoyable dining experience. The food was quite tasty. We stopped into Germantown Cafe after dinner for dessert and drinks. They have two sections of the restaurant. When you first walk in, you're in the bar area that has some booths and a couple of small tables. Then there's the formal dining area. We decided to just park at the bar and hung out with our bartender, Delise. We ordered the apple pie a la mode and chocolate bread pudding. They make both fresh in house, along with their ice cream, and you could definitely tell. I also ordered an espresso martini, and Delise made it perfectly! It wasn't super busy, so we had a good time hanging out with her and satisfying our sweet tooth. We went to this local gem for lunch on a Monday. We arrived about 11:15 and it wasn't that busy but it was busy by the time we left around d 12:30. This place has been here for over 15 years I believe. There's a reason why-- It's all good. It's not intimate, but it's just a good place to eat, drink and be happy. It just gives off good vibes. They do Brunch on the weekends and there is actually a free lot to park in, which is almost unheard of in Nashville. They have a full bar with cocktails, Beers and Wine by the glass or bottle. They offer 6 appetizers, 8 entrees, 3 salads, 7 sandwiches, desserts and an Asian noodle bowl. I got the Hoisin marinated BBQ Pork Chop. My wife got the Coconut Curry Salmon. We got the Veal Ricotta Meatballs for an Appetizer and a side of the 4 cheese baked macaroni. Everything was cooked properly and we both enjoyed the food. It's worth checking out when your in Nashville. Last note. The staff were friendly and our server was awesome. read more

Wow, what a fantastic day! I'm in town for my bestie's birthday party and the girls wanted to do brunch. My little sister has been here countless times, so she suggested we grab some food and booze from the Cafe. We were seated almost immediately, and our delightful and handsome server Jake .. NOT from state farm greeted us with a big smile. He was so honest about the wait time, which was pretty long, but we didn't mind. While we were waiting for two more guests to arrive, we ordered a half-pound of bacon and monkey bread. Who doesn't love bacon? The girls enjoyed the bread, and it went fast like the bacon.
