Most likely one of the WORST cups of coffee I have ever have. The staff seemed absolutely clueless about their own menu and how to work their own Point of Sale system. These 5-Star reviews must be fake. The staff had no idea what we were saying when all we ordered was a small hot coffee, and one cold brew coffee. Pretty easy order I would say... when asked for a refund they just stared at me. We each had one sip of our coffee and it was absolutely putrid. Never ever again. Buyer beware!! read more

I need to say I'm in the middle of the road on this place but I'm going to give them another chance someday. First I didn't look at the hours of operation before I went their at 6:30 a.m. And to my surprise they were Closed!!! This is a Coffee Shop!!! This has to be one of the worst experiences that I had at restaurant recommended by Yelp patrons. The food and service was awful such as roast beef, turkey sandwich, pasta salad, and potato dish awful. No server had to provide tip before you got the food. If I had know I would've never left the tip on yhe beginning. I take my dishes and clean my plate. Drink was a small solo drink cul supposed to be sweet just nasty. The food is good. Everything that can be homemade and made ahead of time is, best I can tell (Soups, salad dressings, chicken salad, etc). The jalapeno ranch was excellent on my salad. The young women who were working behind the counter answered the questions we had with a smile. But nothing we ordered should have taken almost 30 minutes to arrive. Chicken salad croissant, two cups of soup, and a side salad. There was one other table in the place. I will absolutely go back, and there could have been a weird fluke in the kitchen. It happens. Terrific flatbread Pisa! At first we were just going to get a cup of coffee then it turned into lunch. I got a cup of their cold brew iced coffee, it was pretty good but a little bit on the weak side. I would like to try their hot coffee to get the full coffee experience. The coffee is very good. We bought some whole beans as gifts for family in CA and they loved it! As for the cafe, it is a nice place to hang out with people, but if you're looking for a quiet, chill space it is not ideal. You can be assertive and ask them to turn down the music (even the outside speakers are loud). Not my choice for an artist's cafe to work, but definitely a great spot for Smyrna. This cozy cafe is located in the Depot District in Smyrna, which is the historic downtown area of town. I recommend Carpe Cafe to fans of art, music, and of course, coffee. The food is good, too! It even has an art room in the back. At night, there is often live music. It's a fun place to hang out and meet friendly artsy people. I also like to go here in the morning because I find it to be kid friendly. My 18 month old who gets squirmy and wants to explore can do that here, and he likes to watch the train out the window. read more

I really liked this mom and pop cafe. It is small on the outside so very easy to miss but much bigger on the inside with ample seating and even a space with couches. They serve breakfast until 10:30AM and then lunch. The menu is simple which I like however I would suggest that they add more details to the menu items. I had to ask a lot of questions about what was in the soup or in a particular sandwich. I do not consume meat or dairy so I was immediately drawn to the veggie wrap. However, was disappointed when I received it and it only had lettuce, cucumber, spinach, a few slices of peppers, and a cream cheese based spread which was not indicated on the menu. Once I pointed it out though they were quick to modify and were sincerely apologetic. I would suggest adding tomato, carrots, avocado, sprouts (if available), and even egg to fill it out a bit. Smyrna has a great local coffee shop and this is it! We had lunch there and if you like French Dips this is the place for you! The Turkey sandwich on Multigrain bread was tasty. We are from Smyrna, WA. and on a recent trip to TN we stopped in Smyrna, TN at the old railroad depot on a Saturday around noon. We were greeted by a wonderful lady Nikki that recommended Carpe Cafe and Janarty's ice cream just across the street. On our way to the cafe we met the cafe owner Susan who wanted to know all about the 5k that we were involved in that day to help raise awareness for Chiari Malformation. She was such a friendly person she even sat down with us at our table and we had a great chat! I love how the cafe is set up, very relaxed, fun and very clean. The coffee they serve is so delicious, we are from "Seattle" so we know our coffee :) I ordered Lucy's Cuban and my husband ordered the Turkey sandwich. There was so much food, my husband and I could have easily split a sandwich! I can't even begin to describe the flavor! Everything was fresh and delicious. We would highly recommend Carpe Cafe and hope to one day come back to visit and spend more time in Smyrna TN because 2.5 hours was not long enough! read more

The food was ok, and the service was ok. The servers weren't helpful or friendly when looking at the menu. We definitely felt like an imposition! It's just ok. I had the caramel macchiato and turkey day special. The caramel macchiato was good, but lacked caramel. I couldn't taste anything on the sand which besides the raspberry pepper jam. I love the combination of havarti and apples, but the flavor of the jam overpowered everything else. I will say the potato casserole was better than I expected! My husband had a peppermint mocha and carpe stack and liked both. If I returned it would be for the sides and the backstory. read more
