We cannot say enough positive things about Lance and his team. I was a passenger in a drunk driving accident and the at fault party was severely under insured. I am writing this review in light of my recent settlement of $1.25 million dollars in which I was represented by the greatest law firm CZR and one of their greatest assets, in my opinion the greatest, Lance Behringer. I took extra time before writing and posting my review in order to represent my thoughts and emotions the best way I know how. During that time I reflected and relived every important situation and scenario, from the devastating moment of impact and the screams from my wife to the sound of Lance's voice telling me the case was settled and now over. The distance between those two distinct life moments when written is measured in mere seconds when read, but those mere seconds where a tumultuous 3 years of real life and anyone who has lived through this type of event knows what I am talking about. It was within those three years I met Lance Behringer from CZR and this review is a reflection of what he offers, not only as an attorney, but as a human being. His competence, compassion and character were second to none and someone who I consider as a God send, holding my hand throughout this horrendous process to the conclusion. The three years crawled along like a snail stuck in wet sand, and at times it seemed slower than that. I am a person with OCD, ADHD and all other neurosis that are derived from those fabulous qualities and if it were not for Lance Behringer I may have lost my mind. Any time I would find myself losing hope, patience or just wanted to fire all my medical providers he was right there for me, talking me off the ledge. From our first meeting to prep, discovery, deposition preparation, actual deposition (which was smack in the middle of COVID-19), demand letter to settlement, everything not only went smooth but just as Lance laid it out. The worst part of any type of legal action in which you are injured by another party is the not knowing, the lack of guarantee things will go your way or if you would be made whole (or partially whole) again. Of course what makes the matter worse are all the injuries and pain you have to deal with on a daily basis. It is a constant reminder of who you used to be and what you will not be moving forward. Lance took all those fears and concerns away and allowed me to focus on getting better. He and his staff did all the heavy lifting and took care of me like family. From the time of retaining them it was a disaster. First off Peter Cho was my supposedly go to lawyer which I talked to twice in a year and a half. Never could get him on the phone. Left messages everyday never a call back. Had this firm for almost two years with two different cases and got screwed on both. I'm just gonna say this and let it speak for ltself. The second accident happened a year after the first. Long story short my lawyer advised me not to file my claim, after the other parties insurance and work platform insurance contacted me and my attorneys to fix all damages and pay all medical bills. Basically 2 months shy of a year all I have to show is a case that was never filed a car that was never fixed, and repoed at that. Outstanding medical bills from failure to pay them. I had to fire them to get new representation after finally waking up and realizing THEY WERE NOT WORKING FOR ME OR WITH ME BUT AGAINST ME IS THE ONLY WAY TO LOOK AT IT. IF YOU NEED PROOF I WISH I COULD POST A SCREEN SHOT OF THE CONVERSATIONS ADVISING ME NOT TO PURSUE UNTILL MY OTHER CASE SETTLED WHICH RESULTED IN ME ALMOST LOSING EVERYTHING. Never offered rental car assistance, had to ask for rides to and from doctors office. Just no assistance at all. Wait let me rephrase that they did help me get a few settlement loans to keep me going but that's as far as it goes. If anyone tries to contest that it didn't happen like that I'll post every thread. Be careful who you hire to hold your life in there hands, they're grip is not firm or secure but rather slippery. Im coming for you C&Z. it is with a heavy heart that I write this review. It's simple. My life was ruined and I lost everything material after a woman raced through a stop sign and t-boned my child and myself, pushing us into a parked SUV. The car we were driving was deemed a total loss. I was referred to CZR by my original attorney, stating the case was "TOO BIG" for him. I met with Steve Mazza initially who asked me if they took my case, would I be willing to get the surgery that was recommended by my Doctors. I answered that I would, of course. (I am missing a piece of vertebrae between my C-5 & C-6). In addition, I suffered from a 7 mil bulge/protrusion which I received numerous epidurals as treatment, which provided only temporary relief. My income of 80-90,000 was jeopardized as I was an internet entrepreneur and could no longer sit at the computer. I had an amazing business and life. A single Mom, while I worked many hours but my business afforded me the luxury of a flexible schedule so I could keep close eye on my teenager. All this changed following this accident. I was forced (under duress) and almost 2 years of extreme pressure to accept a settlement. By the time medical bills were paid and Carpenter, Zuckerman and Rowley received their money, there was no money left to get the surgery that I desperately needed and had agreed to get. We were six figures short! Big swing. I am faced with debilitating pain every day. I am unable to work and definitely NOT the same woman I was prior to this accident. I have been struggling ever since and it has adversely affected my child's life. I provided CZR with every document they needed, income etc. My teenaged child and I lost our residence and my source of income. With few options I was forced to live in a shelter and my child was forced to live with friends in order to finish the last year of high school. Separated from my child, the stress was too much from all of this and I had heart failure. Subsequently, I was forced to have heart surgery. I would call this "cause & effect". I was born with a heart defect and the stress caused by this accident and the events that followed were all a huge factor in regards to my condition. Bottom line... my experience was that they did not have my families best interest at heart. Also, they told my child that they would NOT take their fee out of her (very small) settlement. Update: The only way to get paid (finally) was to file a complaint with the California state bar. Suddenly the money and the staff was available to me then and the check arrived. Do the complaint easily online, then never use this firm again. It wasn't just the payment and avoiding me issue, which is bad enough. I wasn't ever impressed with their counseling or their very last min cancelling of in-office appt. They didn't advise me as much as I'd expect. Luckily I got a settlement I was happy with because the case was clear and valid. read more

BEWARE of this firm!!!!! My attorney with this firm was Brian Ward. I won't hold the fact that I was led to believe my case was worth 6 or even 7 digits and only got 20k, because my case went to trail and my CZ&R lawyers were simply dealing with a better attorney. After over 4 years, my case was awarded a total of 143k, of that I walked away with a wopping 20k and to add insult to injury, Brian told me I was lucky to get that. He insinuated I would get enough money to retire, acted like our best friend, even talked about going on a vacation with us. FYI, I never fell for this. My complaint is Brian Ward. After trial, he simply disappeared, he has not return my calls, text, emails and almost completely cut communications with me. It took be 5 months after trail to even get the 20k because Brian was on two vacations, other trials, with clients, power outage, etc. etc. My only contact was one of his paralegal. The final disbursement sheet they sent me was a joke. Mass majority of the disbursement went to themselves for what they called "advanced case cost" which they refuse to itemize for me. I have emailed them twice requesting for an itemized copy of this so called advanced case cost, but have never heard a peep. According to the state bar, I am entitled to get this itemized with receipts and am now being forced to seek help from the state bar. I can only assume this is what they used to give themselves an extra bonus. What ever it was, they obviously don't want me to see it. If ever provided, I will edit my review accordingly. FYI, firms like this will try to make this review disappear by hiring a 3rd party company who will fill this page with phony reviews in an attempt to bury all negative reviews. read more

My case was transferred to CZR by Bergener once negotiations started, once a settlement was reached (13500) they charged me their 45%fee plus an additional 43% "case costs" fee, not including outstanding medical. My case never went to trial it was settled. I responded asking for more information on the additional fees as they were never mentioned before and have still not received a response. They are slow to respond and once they have the money they don't care about your questions. 8 months later I still have no answers and disbursement paperwork has not been signed. I would not recommend either company to anyone. read more
