I don't recommend this business and here's why: First, I ordered 450 sq ft of flooring from Carpets by Direct and they told me that would be 6 boxes. When my contractor started to lay the flooring he realized that we only received 230 sq ft. When I contacted them, they gave no apologies and tried to turn things around on me. They said I ordered 6 boxes -- but how would I know how many sq ft were in the boxes? Again, no apologies and they took no responsibility for their error. They said they would "split" the freight with me. What? This was not my fault. Second, when I tried to leave a review on their site, they apparently don't accept any reviews below a 4 star rating! This gives customers a distorted and untrue picture of the company. Third, don't believe that they have the lowest prices because they don't. I hope this saves future customers from the same snafu I ran into. I am in Greensboro, NC, not San Francisco. read more

I highly recommend Carpet By Direct to install laminate flooring. Greg Hardy in the Greensboro location was very helpful and I was able to get laminate installed very reasonably. I went in to possibly get a quote for doing my bathroom. The staff was so short and disinterested in helping me that I can't imagine going to and using them for any purpose when my mother question them about some pricing they done for a last year they became snarky and had quite a biting attitude towards her. And seem to bother to even help her. I imagine that any place would do a better job than they would. I can't imagine anyone spending their hard-earned money to be treated like crap. read more

I went into Carpets by Direct and got a quote from Greg. I told him I had around 900 square feet that needed carpeting, but he calculated 1000 square feet to be on the safe side and told me if it was less, the price would go down. When he came out to measure, he measured 1040 square feet. Because of the extra 40 square feet, he quoted me a new price with an additional $300 plus tax. When I questioned the new price, he said I told him 900 square feet. I did, but he calculated 1000 square feet! We went back and forth on this. I was fine with paying for 40 additional square feet, but didn't see how $300 plus tax additional dollars was fair. This would mean around $600 additional. Then, I needed transition strips. He said he'd have to special order them, but to come into the store and see if any colors they had would work. We agreed on $31 for the strips to make the total price an even number. We went to the store and we met the owner Stacy who helped us while Greg was with a customer. They did not have the right color and Stacy told us that he would order the strips on him since we already purchased the carpet (in cash, I'll add). When we all met in the front of the store, we told Greg in front of Stacy that he said the strips were on him. I thought that was a very nice thing to do as a business owner. A small gesture like this that costs the company close to nothing goes a long way with a customer! The install went well. The guys who came didn't speak much English so it was difficult to communicate with them, but I think they did a good job. They arrived on time, even a little early, and Greg called to let me know they were coming which was much appreciated. They also cleaned up their mess and left nothing behind. Overall, I was pleased with the job they did. When the job was finished, the guys handed me an invoice where Greg wrote "$1360" due on completion. This was $60 additional than my receipt. I only paid the $1300 and Greg called me the next morning saying that the $60 was for the transition strips. Even if he was trying to collect on the strips, the agreed cost was $31. I have no idea where he got $60 from. We had two instances with pricing and Greg plays dumb. He's a nice guy, but sneaky, and needs to be watched. He should have been honest. He pretends that he doesn't remember the agreement or conversations, and doesn't follow through on what he says. This could turn many customers away, as well as get ugly in the middle of a job. Besides this, it was an OK experience with Carpets by Direct, but I'd recommend working with someone other than Greg. read more

Please do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here! They improperly installed the tile in my bathroom which caused the floor to rot due to,water damage. They have hands down the WORST customer service I have ever received, not at all apologetic about the problem or inconvenience. Never returned phone calls, were very rude and dismissive when we did talk to them. Long story short we are 4 weeks into them fixing their mistake in the bathroom and they still haven't finished!!! I would burn money before I would pay them for any services! read more

Shelves torn off wall, Leg ripped off dresser, carpet segments do not match. Little customer service.

We decided to update the flooring in our house by replacing the carpet with laminate floors in the living areas and bedrooms and putting in new linoleum in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room. After getting estimates for from multiple sources, the decision to go with Carpets By Direct was a no brainer. The prices were competitive and the quality of the products could not be beat. Greg provided outstanding customer service and even allowed us to take samples home so we could view the flooring in multiple rooms and lighting circumstances. He shared the option of paying for part of the service and financing the rest interest free for a year, which we did. When it came to the install, Juan and Daniel were courteous, professional, and hard working. They came early and worked late each day. Although we were given an 3 day service window, they were able to complete the job in just 2 days. We are very satisfied with our experience and have already recommended Carpets By Direct to friends and family. read more

I bought a $300,000 house and renovated it. I went to Carpets By Direct for all of my flooring and bathroom tiles. They ordered and installed the wrong tile in the master bath, the hardwood flooring was unprofessionally installed to the point where John sent an installer out three times to make repairs. The installers disposed of their debris and scraps by putting them in four of my heat vents. I was appalled. As the problems with the floors got worse, John refused to listen to my complaints and started to compare his floors with mine. He was very unprofessional. Greg, the general manager came out and saw just how serious the problems were. He said the owner said they they would replace the hardwoods and repair the Duraceramic floor. I agreed, but the next day he called back and withdrew the offer. This was by far the most horrific, unprofessional experience I have ever had. PLEASE take my advise and never go near this company. You will surely regret it. read more
