Max is fantastic. He was recommended by a few people I know and he sure came through. Great price for new LVT flooring throughout my 1300 sq ft house. I had laminate installed only 4 years ago but they did a really bad job, the flooring was separating at the seams, I had a LOT of squeaks in the floors, and because my dogs "leak" water from their water bowl, I had several spots of water damage. I informed Max that I was concerned about the condition of the subfloors, the previous guys had said I shouldn't worry because they were "floating floors". Arcenio and his helper arrived on time on Day 1 and after removing the old floors, found quite a bit of damage which needed fixing. Pretty much the whole day was spent repairing the subfloors, putting in new plywood and screwing down loose boards. It took 5 1/2 days due to all the extra repair work that had to be done here and there, but Max charged me a very fair price for the additional work. I highly recommend Carpets Direct. I've worked with Max, the owner, on three different projects. One was a carpet replacement with laminate flooring of over 1000 square feet. The other two times were from water damage and required replacement of hardwood planks. Ever since the first project, I've had no hesitation to call Max for any flooring need. His team did fantastic jobs on all three projects! One particular project that really shined: Max and his team was able to replace the water damaged hardwood, despite the fact that that particular model is no longer made! Since the exact wood planks are no longer made, other vendors wanted to do a larger area, or replace ALL of the wood flooring for the entire unit. I felt there was no need to remove the undamaged wood planks. It would've been very costly, and just a waste. Max was able to find a wood plank that almost matches my current floor, and was able to adjust it so it can be laced it. The look was identical, but the notching is slightly different. No other vendor would attempt this using a different model hardwood plank! Max's team was able to make it work, and saved me a bundle! Max is very knowledgable, and easy to work with, and has always given me the best bids. Highly recommended! And always good to support a local business! read more

Deceitful, poor quality workmanship and horrible customer service. We had Max's team install bamboo wood floors for the 2nd level of our house when our son was first born. His team broke the mesh screen of one of our windows and left damaged on our staircase and tried to lie about it. His team also never aired the wood before installing it so the end result were gaps in our flooring. When Max finally agreed to come out and inspect all the issues after multiple calls and complaints, he tried to put the blame on us. After much argument, he agreed to send his team out 2 weeks later to fix the areas with a lot of gaps and the broken window. The week that his team was supposed to come fix the issues, we received a call from his secretary that Max had to abruptly leave the country because of family issues and his return date was unknown. We were asked to delay the fixes until he returned and promised that his team would reschedule the appointment promptly after Max returned. We never got a call to reschedule and wasn't sure when would be the right time to call them again. If we had more time on our hands, we would definitely report his business to the Better Busines Bureau or taken him to court. read more

I needed carpet on the fly and they were able to help quickly HOWEVER, only ONE person was sent to carpet a 1500 sq ft. condo with stairs. He obviously struggled bc he dragged the carpet through my hallway deeply scratching freshly painted walls and our banister while trying to get the carpet into the house. He also cut the carpet in our driveway and just left all of the crumbled pieces of carpet. It was in our house and in the garage as well. When we asked them to come and clean up and to fix the scratches, they sent over some shoddy person who promptly painted our white banister taupe and barely fixed the walls. I had to then hire ANOTHER painter to come back and redo them. There were no apologies from them.. just "let me use MY guy to fix it" - which turned out horrible.I will never work with them again. I just needed a carpet remnant for a small job in my house. After discovering several carpet stores were mostly unhelpful, I called Carpets Direct. The woman who answered the phone said, yes, they could help me out with finding a remnant. I drove over to the store and was helped immediately. She relayed me to a very kind man who took me to the back to look at the carpet pieces. After looking at a couple, I found one that was PERFECT. Neutral, with a small raised pattern. The man was so kind, he gave it to me for free! And then helped me put it in my car. And gave me directions to where I could buy carpet glue. Amazing. I would go back for a larger job in a second. The installation of the carpet went great. I was thoroughly pleased. Yet, there were some later problems regarding the carpet. The response initially was very attentive, but it never got resolved. I've called Max at least five different times and no resolution. He just says, "I'll take care of it." Once or if I get this resolved, I will not ever use him again. read more

Stay away from Max and his lying ways...I have been a property manager since 2001 for my family. We had been given quotes from 2 different companies during COVID to re-carpet our 2 story apartment building's stairs and hallways. I was hoping for a great deal, but neither of the bids were enticing enough. My father, the owner of the building called Max since we used to do a lot of business with him. Now I remember why we stopped using Carpets Direct. I let Max into the building to measure and give us an estimate. I returned to my other job, giving Max all the time he needed inside the building. We received the quote, and agreed right away. His workers were not able to start the job on the day planned, which is OK as we were able to reschedule. When they did start, Max called me stating his men were going to walk off the job unless we paid $500 more. Max stated that there were too many layers of old carpet and that the job was so dirty, that his workers were refusing to continue unless we paid more. Of course he tells us this and sends pictures of our building with all of the old carpet removed...shady to hold us hostage for $500. I spoke with my dad and said let's split the difference, since Max is the one that gave us the bid, we shouldn't have even given a penny extra, but we were worried he would stop the job. Max would not take $250 and insisted on more money. To make matters worse, he told us the doors to each apartment did not have to be opened for his workers to lay the carpet. Of course when I visited the workers to check on their progress, they were furious the doors were not open. Max also did not tell them about some steps that were supposed to be carpeted but luckily I was there to inform the workers. Unfortunately, they had already cut the carpet to length without including the steps. So now we have a metal thresh-hold piece to cover the seam by the steps. Lastly, when the job was completed, I found about 40 nails left outside of the building in our tenants parking area. I spent about 30 minutes combing the area where Max's workers had placed our old carpet before they had hauled it away, looking for all of the nails. I took a picture of them in my hand and sent it to Max. He did not respond, yet continued contacting my father demanding a balance of payment that had not been in the estimate. Sadly, my father who does not live in LA, and is close to 90 decided to pay the extra money as he was in fear of being sued or retaliated against. Even though we had a written estimate that was verbally altered without our approval, my father is not in the best of health to deal with fighting this in court. When I bought my house,the living room opening to dining and kitchen had red oak hardwood floor, while the kitchen and dining had ugly ceramic tile. I decided to demo the ceramic tile and continue the nice hardwood floor into dining and kitchen. Carpets direct provided me with great consult on how to achieve what I wanted to do. They installed new hardwood that blended in perfectly with the exiting one. The new wood perfectly matched the height and finish of the old wood. I was very worried about my ability to make brand new wood match the looks and installation of a 30 year old wood. Carpets direct made it happen. DO NOT use this company! They did a fair job putting in the laminate floors at my work but did not complete the job properly. There are several doors that will not close all the way because the rubber molding they installed under the doors were too thick. I have made several attempts to contact the owner, Max and he has failed to remedy the situation even thought he promised to when I contemplated about giving him final payment before the issue was fixed. I trusted that he was a man of his words and would fix the problem even after being fully paid but shame on him. I understand that it would be an additional business expense to come back but as a company, you fully warranty your work during and after the job is done. If I were you, I would look for a different company, one that will take care of their customers, even after the job is complete. That to me is true customer service. read more

This place sucks. I had my vinyl flooring done by them, both kitchen and bath. The work quality is awful. One of the seams not only started curling up within a month and we were tripping on it, but they also used some kind of pen to mark the cuts and all the cuts are visible. Ink won't come off. The edges of the vinyl where they meet the kitchen cabinets were just left curled up under the cabinets. No molding. They removed the toilet to install the vinyl in the bathroom and did NOT replace the wax ring under the toilet, so now it stinks and water seeps from under the toilet. They also left the toilet lose. I called for a follow up and no one ever returned. I will never use these people again. read more

I am so disappointed in Max (the owner). Lack and poor customer service. I have been to this store 4 times. The first time and third they closed before the time stated on the door. I was told by Max if they are slow that he closes early. Which doesn't help someone coming from work or on a Saturday. The last time I was in there I picked out the carpet that I wanted installed. Max informed me that he would come out for an estimate (which it states on the website). I called this past Monday (July 8th). His assistant called and said that Max could come out that day to give me an estimate. Than she called 3 more times, the second time she asked if I was the person who was also looking at laminate flooring. I informed her that I was and that I purschased the laminate flooring already (Lumber Liquidator), than she called back and asked if I could count the stairs. Which doesn't make any sense considering the stairs could be large or short steps. I told her that he needs to come measure the flooring himself considering he said that he would. She called again (4 times now) and said that he really WANTS ME TO COUNT THE STAIRS before he comes out. I informed her that it sounds like he doesn't really want to come out and that he doesn't really want the job, she said that it too sounds like he doesn't want the job. I believe that he didn't want to do it because I didn't buy the laminate floors there. He would have made easily made $1000+ on my floors alone. I guess he is making so much money that he can walk away from this job. What he also fails to realize is that 3 of my neighbors (I live in a gated community) just asked for carpet recommendations. Not only will he lose out on my job but he won't be used by my neighbors as well. I am now back at square one with finding carpet, I believe that it is a blessing in disguise. read more

Great service and price! Max from Carpets Direct gave me the best price for quality carpet with installation and padding. I am very satisfied, my bedrooms and stairs are beautiful. The only problem I had was that they sent only one carpet installer to my vacant condo. The man was a very hard worker, I felt so bad for him because he was all alone. He had to install carpet in three bedrooms and two flights of stairs. He started at around 9:00 am, and finished at 9:30pm. That's ridiculous! I was there all day until about five when I called it quits and went home. I had my neighbor (who was doing work in the condo) check in and give me an update. For my next project I'll just make sure to ask for two installers, even if my place is empty so I don't waste my whole day waiting for carpet to he installed. read more

If possible avoid using this company. I just recently had them replace some wood planks in my apartment and they did a horrible job. The planks are not even, they did not clean up after themselves. There was inches of dust all around my floors and furniture, which they did not bother to protect. They moved some stuff on my balcony and did not move it back. They used my garbage bags and paper towels. I am surprised they did not use there own and finally a job that should of took two days took a week because they decided to show when they saw fit and they were late the last day. read more
