I noticed a few negative comments over the past few yrs for Crenshaw Carpets. These were during the Pandemic AND during an ownership transition at the company. In August/September 2022 Crenshaw Carpets did a great job on our carpets for 4 upstairs bdrms. The carpet we selected for our master bedroom had a pattern that showed the seam depending on the light coming through the windows. They came out 2 times trying to resolve the issue with no luck! Finally the owner, Bruce, ordered a new piece of carpet and the installers replaced almost 1/2 the carpet in the master bdrm, after which the seam was invisible!! This cost the company a fair bit of money, but they stepped up and did whatever was necessary to make it right. Not many companies would have gone to these lengths and costs to provide customer satisfaction. read more

Their customer service is horrific! The guy Bruce is a rageaholic, screaming and yelling at customer when his company is at fault. They make promises they can't fulfill then had the audacity to hang up the phone! I am a customer that provides accolades when due but I am also the customer that provides caution to consumers when companies are horrific and extremely unprofessional ! Take caution when things are too CHEAP there's a reason! Run DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY. And Bruce, go get some mental health you need it! read more

The information below is long but it needs to be said, please note.. I have a great deal of patience plus I really liked Bruce the first and the second time we talked over the phone. I am not only upset that a businessperson would treat a customer this way but now I have to start all over I finding my materials. I will post this on FB and anywhere else, I can because I am so frustrated with the lack of professionalize shown by the owner and employees of this company. RUN..Do NOT walk away from this business. Otherwise, you may spend lots of hours and headache as well. I'm sad too. I called Bruce several months ago asking for laminate pricing. I told him I'd buzz him back in the spring. So I did a few weeks ago. I was not in a rush so the fact it takes a while to catch him (never returns calls. Oh maybe once) wasn't a problem until no calls or emails were answered. After it was days and days with no response, I called again. (His receptionist has the people skills of a spare tire). I emailed my stairwell measurements and pictures of the carpet we want on April 26th. When I did not get a response by the next day, I sent an email asking, "Did you receive my stairwell info?" Later that evening I received an email with a simple, "OK". On May, the 1st.at 3:12PM, I tried calling but he was unavailable so I told the receptionist I'd email him. I said, "I've tried calling and sending emails. I need to move forward on my project. If you don't want me business please just tell me. If I don't hear from you by Wednesday, May 3rd at noon I will assume you do not." At 5:23PM, I received an email, "I saw it this am. but have been dealing with an emergency. will check". I responded, OK. This morning, I received this: "Teresa, I told you I had an emergency yesterday. You obviously could give a shit. Go somewhere else. Bruce" I then responded. "Bruce, you have your wires crossed. You sent me a message after mine and said you had an emergency. I replied ok. Now. Do you still want me to go somewhere else?" His last reply was, "yes". read more

Eh. I don't need carpet for the crib. I paid for the nice carpeting in my bedrooms, the rest is hardwood and my studio is junk carpet as it was installed to collect paint droppings and other artistic abuse without freezing me out in the winter. But, I do produce carpeted door mats and they are guaranteed money makers, so I am always trolling for the discontinued sample mats from carpet stores. I used to have a hook up with a local carpet mill, but I think he got fired. Dang it! In this screwy economy, one has to be creative. I am extremely , much more busier than I was two months ago, my new 'value line' has credit for that, but as long as I have rugs, I have money. It is my number one item (except for calendar orders in mid summer) that my customers inquire about. On the way back home from making money with a client in Los Angeles, I drove down Crenshaw Blvd and saw this huge ass sign.."Crenshaw Carpet Center." When I pulled over and got out, I saw a pallet full of rugs. I started counting money in my head. The sign said 2 dollars each. Oh, hell no. They get that shit free from the mill, carpet companies...so I won't pay more than a dollar. So I ask the receptionist if I bought 50, could I get them for a buck each. He didn't think that there was a problem with that, but he had to ask management. The answer was affirmative. Ask and ye shall recieve. I handed over a 50 dollar bill and was allowed to pick through and get the ones I wanted. Ca...ching! I got into the car and put the Blackberry Earbuds on and commenced to calling customers as I headed to Long Beach and letting them know that I would have fresh new rugs within the week. One client ordered 20 ("mix in some AKA's and Delta's!") another ordered 10 ( "I need a variety!) and another customer said "just bring what you have, I'll get all of them." So I sold all the rugs on the way home, a huge profit within an hour. I have to go to L.A again tomorrow. I plan to stop in and see if they have some viable rugs. I sure hope so. For my business, rugs = Money= rent=dog food. No shoes on that list, I have enough cute shoes to get through the summer and still be cute. But like the LBC's favorite son says... " I got my mind on my money and my money on my mind." But hey! If you need carpeting for your crib, they have been in this location FOREVER! Check 'em out like you would do anyone if you want carpet installed. I can't help you with that. :) read more

I have been buying from them for the past 30 years and it's been 10 years since I last visted there Family Owned showroom off Crenshaw Blvd. See Bruce,he or his Mother still hold it down and delivers a wide array of every type of floor covering for home, office, hotel or your backyard. Simply the best. I don't care what anyone else says. Over the last ten years, I have used, and/or suggested Crenshaw Carpet Center to others on a number of occasions and can confidently say that you will get no better carpet for a better price ANYWHERE in the entire city of Los Angeles. Period, hands down, end of story. Beverly, the owner, is a class act. Her family has owned that business for over 60 years and they have connections to some of the highest end interior designers in Southern California. While they carry full lines of retail residential and commercial carpets, what makes the store great are the overage rolls of ridiculously high end carpet from huge jobs. These are bigger than regular remnants, and can easily carpet a room or an entire apartment or small house. They know carpets and they also know pads. The installers they have used for my jobs have been exceptional. Crenshaw carpet center kicks ass and is most definitely worth the drive to South Central!!!! read more

I just moved to the neighborhood and I like to support the local businesses. When I walked in to Crenshaw Carpet I couldn't find anyone to help me, but , it was 9am and I could tell their offices were upstairs. So I started looking at displays on my own and calling out every couple minutes "HELLOOOOO?" after 4-5 minutes Bruce walked up to me. I told him the color range I was interested in. He knew exactly what he had in stock that would work for me and was very knowledgeable about the carpets....within 10 minutes I was out of there and had a scheduled delivery date and a GREAT deal on carpet for two bedrooms. The installers did an excellent job installing and worked very efficiently. They were friendly and communicated with me about a couple issues that came up as they were installing. The owner is friendly at first but flakey. The "assistant" has no people skills. Good luck getting a phone call back. Ultimately, I was completely disrespected and treated like this is the only flooring company on earth. Would never shop there or send anyone their way. I moved here from NYC 7 years ago and after scouring the city for wool remnants I found this place. The only one in all of the L.A. metropolis that has wool remnants that I could find ! I love this place and have not written about it because it's such a great find with berber style and karastan remnants and new carpets as well that are comparable to the same you'd find in high end stores but at almost 1/2 the price. I would give 10 HUGE STARTS if I had the option! The best quality at the best price ever!!! Their carpet selection is unbelievable, they offer an extensive selection of laminate and hardwood flooring! We only needed carpet in 2 bedrooms and we are extremely happy with Bruce's recommendations. Gaynor, the sweet lady who works there is extremely nice, helpful and knowledgeable. We didn't need too much carpet, but we were treated with so much attention and excellent customer service as if we have bought hundreds of thousands of square feet of carpeting... Bruce the owner, he's there all day every day, assisting everyone and supporting his staff. The guys who came to install the carpet in our home, Jose and sorry I can't remember the other guy's name, were extremely professional, very attentive as well, worked super efficient and fast and the quality of their work is 100%!!! Good value and prices, great service. I needed to replace an entire condo with carpet unexpectedly and quickly a few days before Thanksgiving. The woman who helped us (unfortunately I forget her name at the moment) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They had just what I needed and were able to schedule the installation 2 days later. The installers were right on time, extremely professional and knew how to figure out the floor configuration in a manner that there was very little waste! Thank you Crenshaw Carpet. Buyer beware. DO NOT use this company or at the very least don't work with Ron. I've used them to carpet my house three times in the last 19 years, and my mother has also used them to carpet her home numerous times. Unfortunately, this last go round, Ron got over on me by shorting me on my hallway carpet and then adamantly telling me that I got what I paid for. My first mistake was working with Ron. My mom tells me that Bruce is much better. My second mistake is having my carpet installed on a Saturday when the store is closed. I had everything moved out of my three bedrooms into my living and dining room when the installers informed me that there wasn't enough carpet for my hallway. I sent the installers away so I could work it out the following week when the store was opened. Within 10 minutes, the installers are ringing my doorbell saying that they talked to their boss who said move forward with the bedroom installation and the carpet for the hallway would be in next week. Because I knew that I already paid for three bedrooms and a hallway, I had them install the three bedrooms. When I followed up with Ron the next week, he wanted to charge me $500 for my 4'x12' hallway, which was more than one third of the cost of the three bedrooms! read more

After having gone from the San Fernando Valley to Commerce in search of carpeting for our son's place, I happened upon Crenshaw Carpets last year. What a find. I phoned to ask if they had room sized remnants and was told that they had a good selection (as so many other stores had said). However, when I arrived, I realized that this store stood out for both fantastic selection and for the quality of the carpeting that they carry. Our son's place isn't very large so we hoped that we would be able to use remnants to carpet the main living spaces. We were so pleasantly surprised so much more than the typical berbers and shags... There were mill runs and some seconds (difficult to tell) of fantastic commercial rugs. There were remnants of real linoleum flooring (which we used in the kitchen area). Bruce and his mom are great and their installers do a top notch job. They do big (huge) projects and small. Downstairs there are rolls and rolls of larger carpet remnants from all-wool tapestries to commercial shags (but mostly more interesting styles). Upstairs are rolls of room-sized remnants standing up. They can finish the edges of remnants to make room-sized rugs. I have just returned to Crenshaw Carpets this year to find carpeting for a rental unit at our son's place and was reminded of what a great find it is. Check them out. read more
