He informed the apartment management about the issue right away, and while they did attempt to address it, it took more than four months for the fleas to become manageable. This situation raised concerns about whether his new couch and mattress were contaminated, which is understandably distressing. After about a month of battling the infestation, the complex offered to move him to a different unit, but he would have to cover the moving expenses himself. Since he doesn't have a local support system to help him move large furniture down from the second floor, this option wasn't feasible. Given these conditions, I strongly advise anyone considering Villa Broussard to think twice and explore other properties in the Lafayette/Broussard area. They were told about a random man living in the unit and did nothing. Employees were all in your business like high school bully's. The maintenance man was stealing property and was lazy. the dryer was broken 100% of the time I lived there. In response to these ongoing issues, I want to share my experience and inform others considering student housing in the area about the broader issues with the current management of the apartment complex. First, upon arrival, I spent a lot of time during two separate in-person tours asking staff members several specific questions. They assured me that all the buildings had undergone renovations with the new management. They also stated that the maintenance team, although small, was good at fixing problems. Additionally, all the rooms were thoroughly inspected and refurbished before new residents moved in. Through the duration of my stay, I've found that most of this was not true. But the one point I made both times I toured, and asked about multiple times, was whether all the rooms had Ethernet. The PC I had built, which I stressed I would use for school and work, did not have a Wi-Fi card and would need a wired internet connection. I did not have an Ethernet port when I moved in, and there were other maintenance problems, some of which were addressed. I wouldn't solve the problem until September, when they duct-taped a cord to the floor. Their counterpoint was that I should have put this on my preferences before moving in, but how was I supposed to know to do that when they personally assured me the Ethernet was in every room during the tour? The internet issues were at their worst in late January 2026 and into the first week of February. After a year of building outages, in January, my apartment (unit) internet did not return, as did our neighbors on the third floor. For almost an entire MONTH, the internet (Wi-Fi and Ethernet) stayed down. During this time, I was in frequent communication with the internet provider, as Theater Street had informed me multiple times that if I ever had internet issues, I would need to contact Kampus Technologies for additional support. Kampus Technologies was fantastic, but its capabilities are limited because it is a Pennsylvania-based company. For some reason, for which I have never received an answer from Theater Street management, there are no internet technicians based in Louisiana; they must be contracted and flown in from Pennsylvania. Kampus Tech's work begins over the phone, coordinating with the general staff team, not the ground maintenance crew, at Theater Street to try to fix the internet issues before sending out a technician. Over the phone, the issue must reach a certain level before they can contact the Theater Street property manager to REQUEST a technician be sent out. My issue had moved to the appropriate distinction, and every time I called Kampus Technologies for an update, they were waiting to hear back from Theater Street. After calling and meeting with Theater Street in person, I was still waiting to hear from the property manager, Cameron, to see what the holdup was. Cameron finally called me one evening, and over the course of the call, I learned he was completely unaware of the current internet problem I was facing and was referring to the original, uninstalled Ethernet cord installation at the start of my lease. From his perspective, he was still waiting on Kampus Technologies, but when comparing the two sides of the story, it didn't make any logical sense to me since I had been in constant communication with Kampus Tech for updates. Additionally, I did not receive compensation until I asked for it. Be aware of these issues because while I may not be the majority, I know I am not alone. Some of the details are paraphrased due to review character limits, but for months of my lease, my life felt like hell. When I had discussions directly with them, I never felt like accountability was ever taken. It was always someone else's fault; that's just the way corporate does things, Kampus Technology goes, and the maintenance crew operates, or the fault of the building's electrical setup when they were originally built.' And be aware that if management changes again in the future and rebrands the complex, it's a rinse-and-repeat cycle, as previous residents told me before I moved in. Ultimately, this contributed heavily to my decision not to renew my lease. I'm sure Theater Street will respond to this review, as they have to every review, sharing their side of the story. Make the reply what you will, but understand that they are trying to protect themselves.
