Excellent everything!!! I have not stayed in a hotel with the service they gave. I felt like I Was in a luxury hotel. When we got in, It was about time for the wine social. They had offered us wine (red or white) and a whole variety of snacks that one Can find on a charcuterie board. They also have a coffee machine where they can make you a personal cup of coffee. Shayla had checked us in and showed us to our room and explained how things worked inside the room and where things were placed. We had booked the deluxe guest room. The room had a fireplace and a 2 person tub. The bed had fine Italian linens with down feather topper and pillows. I slept so well from the comfiness of the bed. They also included 2 beautiful robes and slippers. Parking was a bit snug, but there were 2 spaces that fit much larger cars. You can also park on the street as well. Location was excellent as we were just a few blocks from ocean Ave where all The shops were. The breakfast was amazing which included freshly baked quiches, muffins, croissants, granola and yogurt and more. They will bring the breakfast into your room every morning with your choice of time. They will also include two flasks where you can refill water in the station outside. I highly recommend coming here and will definitely visit again. read more

We loved our stay here. The room was very large and quiet. We thought the location was perfect -- you are right at the hub of downtown Carmel, but on a quiet residential street one street over from the shops and restaurants. So you are right where you want to be, but it is also nice and quiet. The breakfast, delivered to our room, was lovely. The service, especially at check in, was 10/10. Bed was a little hard. But would definitely stay here again. Monterey airport was just 15 minutes away. read more

We spent a night at Carriage House during our first visit to Carmel. We were impressed immediately with the welcome we received when arriving 3 hours prior to check in. The room was beautiful with every detail covered. Breakfast brought to our room, wine reception in the early evening, covered parking and all within walking distance to Carmel's shopping and dining. We booked two nights at Carriage Inn but had to check out after the first night. The room next to us had someone extremely drunk, shouting and making noise for hours. We were up most of the night and had to knock on their door ourselves. The walls are really thin, so noise travels easily. The front desk was closed overnight, and no one told us there was an emergency number we could call. In the morning, we let staff know we were leaving early because we couldn't sleep and didn't feel comfortable staying. The manager wasn't there, but we were told she'd follow up about a possible refund. We also asked to switch rooms but were told there were none available. At that point, we had only been charged for the first night, and there was no mention that we'd still be charged for the second. So we were really surprised to see a charge for the second night show up later--even though we didn't stay. Honestly, we think it would've been fair to get a partial refund for the first night, too, given how bad it was. But we didn't push for that. We just didn't expect to be charged for a night we didn't stay, after leaving because the hotel couldn't resolve the issue. Really disappointing experience, and not how we expected things to be handled! read more

Everything about our stay was perfect! The beds are firm.but have a nice feather topping, the fireplace was so comfy and the breakfast delivery ink the morning was the cherry on top! We did go to their wine social both nights we were there and got to speak with Michelle and Raj. What a treat they both were. Michelle is over and beyond fantastic and really helped us feel so comfortable and was ready to give us any recommendations when needed and even provided us with directions. For the price, this place is absolute steal. The location alone is reason to consider staying here. Walking distance to downtown Carmel - including some of the most amazing restaurants and shopping. And on top of that, the service and accomdations are stellar. The rooms are spacious and offer peace and quiet along with one of the most comfortable beds in the area. As other reviewers mention, the complimentary breakfast and nightly wine reception are an added bonus. Each evening, the staff puts out an inviting selection of cheese and pour up a better than decent red and white wine option giving you the opportunity to meet the friendly staff and other guests. If you ever plan to come to Carmel, Big Sur, or Monterey, I highly recommend booking a stay at Carriage Inn. We received the warmest welcome from the manager, Michelle, as soon as we walked in. She took us directly to our room and showed us everything and all the room features herself. She made us feel welcome and gave the place such a kind, welcoming, personalized experience. Plus the room itself was lovely, spacious, and clean. The stay came with breakfast -- a delicious breakfast that was freshly cooked and individualized to us (they give you a menu every day, and you choose what from there you want to order). Upon arriving, you're also greeted with freshly home baked cookies (delicious), and the host a nightly (free!) hors d'oeuvres (with wine and a varied spread). Parking and breakfast were included. It was such a convenient location. For visiting Carmel beaches, it's situated very close to one of the two beach entrances (the least crowded of the two entrances, where we enjoyed a nice sunset). The place is super close to Point Lobos, Bixby Bridge, and Big Sur. Michelle, the manager told us that by showing our room key at any restaurant in Carmel by the Sea, restaurants would give us discounts -- and they did!! We made the unfortunate mistake of booking our last night in the area at a hotel in Monterey, and it was awful compared to how lovely everything in Carmel was. If you're traveling out of the Monterey airport, please consider staying the extra night at the Carriage Inn. You'll be so close to the airport anyway, and there's no need to stay in Monterey when you can enjoy such a lovely stay from just a couple of minutes south at the Carriage Inn. When I was researching spots for my boyfriend & I to celebrate our anniversary, I found Carriage House Inn and saw that it had great reviews on both Yelp and Google. Those reviews were spot on! Here are the things I really enjoyed about our stay: 1) The thoughtful touches. From the tissue shaped like a rose at the top of our tissue box, to the complimentary Perrier in our mini fridge, and the afternoon wine and cheese aperitif delivered right to our door, they didn't skimp on a single amenity to make us feel extra welcome. 2) The coziness of the room. I mean WOW! It was ideal for our romantic getaway: comfy robes, a giant bathtub big enough for the both of us (with jets!), a fireplace, and a window seat where we could sit and enjoy our breakfast. 3) The location. It's toward the entrance to downtown and toward the mission, with just enough distance from the main part of the street to miss the noise and traffic but close enough to walk to any restaurant, boutique, coffee shop, or even the beach within minutes. AND the parking is easy. This trip was a rare event for us (we're usually an outdoors/remote camping couple, and try to save money when we can) but staying here was absolutely worth the splurge and allowed us to relax and enjoy our time together. The Carriage House Inn is a beautiful boutique bed and breakfast nestled in downtown Carmel within walking distance of the beach. When we checked in we were greeted by a lovely front desk concierge who informed us that they love to pamper their guests. That, they most definitely did indeed. We were welcomed with a personal charcuterie tray and wine to enjoy in our suite and given a tour of our beautiful, romantic accommodations, replete with two fireplaces, two TVs, a hot tub in the bedroom and a two headed shower in the bathroom. Every morning breakfast of our choosing was brought to our suite at the time we chose. Their award winning quiches were delicious and a great way to start the day. This is definitely one of the best bed and breakfast places I've ever been to. read more

Disappointing customer service and rude manager. When my mom cancelled the reservation I had made for her, she wasn't informed that I'd lose my $500 deposit. After I didn't see the credit to my credit card, I called the hotel and the rude manager told me that my mom was adequately informed that I'd lose my deposit and she cancelled anyway. Untrue. I didn't want my money back, I simply wanted to use my deposit towards another stay. The Inns-by-the-Sea manager told me that the hotel manager had provided us with the adequate information and there was nothing he could do. Very sad that they couldn't just let us use the deposit towards another weekend. They've lost a lot of future customers. read more

Absolutely fantastic in every aspect. We stayed there for a 3-day anniversary getaway and hated to leave but we had to come back to reality. The Staff at the Inn are incredibly friendly and very available. We had breakfast brought to us every morning and we also had an evening of Hors d'oeuvres and wine available to us. We stayed in the premium suite and it was outstanding, the bed was very comfortable and the shower with the glass door that opens inward and outward was a nice touch. Two TVs, two fireplaces and so many other amenities made our anniversary stay perfect. We will be back. read more

Really liked the hors d oeuvres that we're left in the room. The breakfast was nice but the management and housekeeping need to pay closer attention. The shower gel dispenser was broken so we had to use bar soap. The Keurig had a used coffee pod in it. For breakfast we ordered a coffee and a tea but were given 2 teas. Great inn just a short walk from Ocean Ave, but quiet and secluded. Has one of the best suites you could ask for. Two rooms, high, vaulted ceilings, huge jacuzzi tub. Large shower with two shower heads. Bed is very comfortable. But most of all the staff is incredible. Michelle at the front desk is kind, gracious and accommodating. She practically anticipates you every need. And before I forget there is an incredible hot breakfast delivered to your room. You have your choice of hot quiche, warm muffins, flaky croissants, yogurt, juice -- the works. Also, a fully stocked fridge with water, sparkling cider, etc. If that's not enough between 5-7 there a complimentary wine and cheese platter. Finally your room is stocked with snacks-- Better hurry and reserve, it is nearly always full months in advance. Make sure to ask for Michelle. read more

So lucky to have found Carriage House Inn having only hours until we drove into Carmel on Memorial Day weekend. We got the last room available for that night. PHEW! The Suite was amazing. Super spacious, lots of light and really clean. Complimentary snacks/cold drinks/hot drinks via K-cup maker and best of all, complimentary breakfast delivered to your door :D Breakfast in bed was awesome. We so enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House Inn. The deluxe king suite was large with cozy gas fire place and 2 person jetted tub. The Inn offers complimentary wine and cheese each afternoon and a complimentary breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Jim, who was managing the inn, was so helpful and friendly. There's free parking and internet. You are walking distance from everything downtown and the beach. The hotel also was very thorough with cleaning and Covid precautions which we really appreciated. It's hard to find if you aren't familiar with the area as they have no physical address "between 7th and 8th, on Junipero" is what they told us. Eventually we found the place. Don't plan on parking on the property with anything bigger than a Prius if you don't want to stress out trying to park it but, once you are there, you'll be glad you stayed. We got a big beautiful room that was nicely furnished. Big comfortable king bed. Turn down service. Huge bathroom. wine tasting happy hour and all within 100 feet of the main drag. When we arrived, we saw a lot of different places and noticed the Carriage House had a vacancy. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely polite and helpful. He checked us in, suggested places of interest and even made a reservation at a restaurant for us. The room itself was AMAZING. We spent four nights at the Carriage House Inn while we explored Carmel and drove up and down the Pacific Coast Highway - stopping at various State Parks and towns along the way. Check-in was easy and the host took us to our room (#9) to show us how everything worked and to explain other details about the hotel. We had a small rental car which we easily parked in one of the 14 spots on-site. The room was large with a VERY comfortable bed. All of the electronics worked as promised, and the daily in-room breakfast was far more than we are used to - or needed. Afternoon wine and cheese (hosted by Lori) was wonderful, and a great opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the other guests - all very nice and interesting. Lori was very helpful regarding restaurant recommendations and reservations, and they even have current menus to peruse. The Inn is situated literally a few steps from the center of the small town - couldn't be a more convenient location. The Inn is a bit pricey, but we felt comfortable and well taken care of. Stayed in the premium room with spa tub, it was very large, clean, large gas fireplace, fridge with complimentary sparkling water, snacks & juice and wet bar. There is only one premium room which is in main building second floor above lobby area. Unfortunately they are currently renovating the lobby and parking areas. Luckily we were up by 8am because there is loud construction noise that would make it impossible to sleep in. I don't recommend staying there until renovation is completed because it impacts your releasing time. The workers also were smoking on site and I mentioned this to one of the carriage staff since it permeated into the room. They also made no attempts to keep their voices down in the early morning and I heard the elderly woman staying next to us to o and ask them to keep it down. Other than that the location is excellent, walking distance to everything in town. The king size bed was very comfortable. Plenty of parking on the street as well as on site. Booked through hotel apps which were cheaper than direct FYI. read more

We were guests of a family member, who was also staying there. Arriving, to check in, we could not register. It required our host, who had named us in the reservation she made. It didn't help. They wouldn't let us check in (we never did, in the end). We were told the family members had not checked in--not true, they had been there the previous night. In the end, it got sorted, but the second-level manager seemed confused and indecisive about pretty much everything. Once the manager took over, it worked, but the check-in rigmarole was dispiriting. Example: the husband completed the check in for the reservation made by the wife, he holding her ID and credit card. Sub-manager: "Is the address the same?" I: "Well, yes, the husband and wife live together at the same address." Well, duh. Lovely room, very comfortable and well appointed, except that the bathroom design was weird. The soaps (all liquid) were remote from the washbasin, so that one dribbled across the countertop. The Keurig delivered no 'brew,' just a cold cup of liquid. The (excellent) breakfast of quiche and croissant was spoiled by the absence of tea bags, checked on the order sheet. Hot water is not a substitute for tea. At these prices, the devil is in the details. read more
