brought my vehicle for tints. I requested 35% tint. They finished the job, however, comparing the work to my friend's car, (he has the same model, same 35% tint), his shade was slightly darker than mines. He showed me his receipt, from Boomers audio, in NH and confirmed the % tint. However, my receipt from carisma showed no such details apart from the services provided. I went back to carisma to inquire about my tint % and below is are the details from the response(s) I received from the owner: 1. They provided me with 40% tint. When i requested 35% 2. When i asked about why 40%, i was told that my factory windows are by default tinted by 5% so they use 40% for a final tint of 35% 3. After the fact that my tints were not the percentage i requested, ( confirmed with my dealership the windows were NOT tinted 5%), the owner stated that for me to get the darkness what i ORIGINALLY wanted, he would have to charge me the SAME price for the work as well as an additional charge for removal of the wrong tint that they installed!!! A month had not passed, but carisma conveniently states on the receipt , which does not detail the product provided, that refunds on services is contingent on owner approval. So it was obvious that i could not go that route of demanding a refund . It would have been a nice gesture to at least meet me halfway with a reduced cost for the service, considering that their explanation of their tints was given to me after the issue was brought up. I am instead using the money to have the tints service done the right way with honesty and integrity through boomers audio in merrimack, NH. They even offered a reduced quote of services when they heard my story. Hopefully this review can be used as a tool for service improvement for carisma and to ensure that any customer will not have to have the feeling that i had upon purchasing a car service or product. Car-Risma is a great spot for your car needs. I've been there a few times for different installs, and plan to return sometime before or by this summer (2010) for some rims. They sell, and install, aftermarket parts for your car, truck, or SUV... and they do an amazing job. Remote car starters, rims, wheels, head and fog lights, new radios and nav systems! I had an aftermarket starter installed on my STANDARD transmission eclipse about 2 years ago, and have loved it ever since. Yes, I emphasize the standard/manual transmission, because a lot of the places I checked wouldn't do it unless it was an automatic. Never had a problem with the starter, and the one time that it didn't work properly I took it back they checked, and corrected it, free of charge! It was less expensive than a factory install, and provided more features than the factory shipment as well. Works great and my buddy couldn't be happier with his purchase. I have a very " Bad Experience " coming here at Carisma. It was my first time, and I found the place online. I made an appointment 4 weeks in advance. On the day of my appointment, I walked up to the Clerk and He pointed me to another Gentleman between his 20--30s years old. I told him i have an appointment today. I then handed him my keys, and ask him when can i pick it up. He said, " Afternoon ". 3 Hours later, I got a call from Carisma that my car is ready for pickup. I got drop of at Carisma, walked in and paid for the work that they did. I then drove of and got home. When i walked around my car and look at the work they did on my Car. Hi my name is jerry fitzgerald retired 20 yr veteran for the usaf. I brought my 2008 chevy cobalt to carisma in lowell ma because my front speakers in my passenger and drivers door were not working. I reactivated my onstar and onstar hands free uses my radio speakers to talk to me but no speakers were working except my rear speakers. Another company told me that my radio, amp, and all my speakers needed to be replaced for around $1800.00. So i wanted a second opinion and call carisma in lowel, ma and spoke to the owner and he told me to bring my car in so he can investigate the problem. He took both door panels off to see what the problem was. After his assessment he discovered that the connections to the speakers were corroded. He put on new connections to my 4 speakers 2 in each door. He told me that the radio, and amp are fine it was just just 4 bad connections since my car is 2008 model. He saved me so much money and repairs as well as replacement of items that were perfectly in working order. Before you spend so much money in needles repairs get you vehicle check out at carisma in lowell ma first. Their waiting area was very clean and comfortable couches and they had 2 racing seats to sit on in the waiting room. They had a tv that you could watch and change the channel and they even offered me a bottle of cold water. I was very extremely impressed by their profession expertise in everything they had to offer from window tint, radios, speakers, remote controls, tires, rims, and so much more. Getting my car windows tinted at this place was a waste of my time; I should've done better research and gone elsewhere! At first, Car-Risma seemed to be a good place to get a good window tint for my car: the people on the phone were nice and dropping off the car was a breeze. However, I had to go back multiple times for re-tint. Re-tint #1: Bubbles/dust on 2 front sides. They redo one. Re-tint #2: Bubbles on front sides. One window, I rolled it down on the first day so it was my fault and I had to pay $49 (no courtesy discount) !!! Re-tint #3: 1 front and 1 back because of bubbles and dust. They redo one because I didn't make an appointment for two. The back is still not perfect. Bubbles are appearing on the side from Re-tint #2. Each time I went back for re-tint, they treated me "ok." Never an apology, refund, etc. It's just a waste of my time having to go back there, especially on a weekday since they don't do re-tints on weekends. I guess I'll have to live with imperfect tints as long as I have my car. I can't judge other services but if you need window tints, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

My husband took my car there last week to have a radio installed and there were problems with it. I was told there was a short in it. No problem, I'll just get another one. When my new radio arrived I called them up and was able to schedule an appointment for Friday. After the job was done I got a call stating it was complete. The guy who worked on my car even got the CD out, my son's favorite CD btw, and put it in the new radio. When I got home I took the old radio out so that I could send it back from where I ordered it, but I didn't see one part. I called the store and just happened to speak with the guy who worked on my car. He told me that none of the parts from the old radio left the car. Hmm if none of the parts left the car, I can't find the part, and you're the one that worked on the car then that only means one thing...Okay thanks for letting me waste your time sir. I went back to my car for the third time and yeah the part was on the floor along with another part, but not where I'd looked. Yeah they were on the passenger side, but near the under part of the seat. Can't fault anyone but myself I suppose for not looking there as everything else was on the passenger side. At this point I'm like dag did I piss this guy off? If he had poor people skills he would've been like lady all this talking is not solving anything, go back to your car and look for the piece and stop wasting my time. He didn't say any of that, but said sorry before he'd hung up. Needless to say, I called the store back to thank him and apologize. The apology was for wasting his time. My friend recommend me to come to this place to get my windows tinted. He said they were pretty good, so I took his word for it and gave it a chance. The drive took an hour since I was coming from Quincy. The wait time was pretty reasonable. About three hours to finish tinting all four windows; I made the appointment at 8AM. When I made the appointment over the phone the woman told me I will be able to pick a shade when I come in. When I came in I wasn't really offered a shade. The guy sorta pushed 35% onto me. I have no idea how the percentage of tinting goes. I just knew I wanted it dark, which is what I told him. He told me "Yeah we will put 40% on and it will turn into 35%" As I was waiting to get my tint done I thought it was kind of strange that he never showed me any shades to look at. I mean how was I suppose to pick one if I don't get to see other options? Since I knew nothing about the percentages of tints, I thought the higher the percentage the darker it was. I paid $140 something at the store since I put down $60 through the phone. The woman said I had to put down money in order to book the appointment. When I told my friend that he told me they never did that to him when he made appointments. When they were finished with my car, they called my name and I paid and left. When I saw my car the windows did not seem tinted at all. Maybe just a tad bit darker, but it wasn't to my liking. Since, again I know nothing about tints. I thought it was going to get darker as I let dry and settle into my windows. Apparently that's just a myth. I really did not like the color of the tint. I told my friend what happened and he said I should have gotten 25. I then found out the lower the percentage the darker it would be. He also said that they probably pushed 35% on me because not a lot of people get it that light and they probably wanted to get rid of it. Honestly, I felt like because I am a girl going into an automotive shop they decided to take advantage of me not knowing anything about the tints. I also told him that my car was a little dirty after they were finished. There was a mark on the roof of my car and all over the sides. I figured the job can be messy, but this was really dirty. My friend was surprised when I told him this because he told me they're usually pretty clean. He suggested that I call them back in a couple of days to see if they have a satisfaction policy. I called them back after two days. I spoke with a guy and told him my situation and he said "That's why we ask you what shade you want first" Well... if I wasn't shown any shades how was I suppose to pick one? And if I wasn't aware of how the percentage of tinting goes wouldn't you want to explain it to me? If I was shown different shades maybe I wouldn't have chose the one you threw on me. Then he asked me if I drove around Lowell a lot. No, I don't drive around Lowell. He told me that the cops in Lowell are really good at picking out illegal tints. Then he offered to redo two of my windows for $80 and I asked him how much it would cost to redo the whole thing. He said $300 because it would cost to remove the old tints. Please explain to me why is redoing two windows $80 and redoing all $300? I don't see how you came up with those prices because there is a BIG difference between the two. I might as well go to a different shop and get it redone for $200 again. Its been about a month now since I got my tint done. Some of the bubbles still have not disappeared. I really can't believe the other posts as I have used Car-Risma more than a few times for remote car starters, window tint installations, and more. They have always been incredible in terms of how service oriented they are. The owner is usually the one answering the phone and he is super super super helpful. I was able to most recently book a new remote start in another of mine literally less than one week before Christmas. They are very dedicated to what they do and the service they provide. I personally would not recommend this place for window tinting services because the wait was way too long, almost 5 hours of waiting!! Also there were smudges on all the windows and well as lint trapped inside the tint film!! My car is brand new and the windows were spotless when I brought it in. Sad sad sad place . I spent 1500 dollers on rims tires and tpms sensors. The sensors never worked when back 3 times they couldn't fix. 300 doller waste there.... Than they charge 40 every time you swap your rims off for winter... I don't know what happened to their orignal tint guy but I'm guessing there's a new guy. I first went to Car-Rismas in '08 to have my windows tinted. Aside from a large bubble, which they fixed in 2 seconds, the tint job was great. No problems. I just recently brought my brand new car there thinking they did such a good job last time, I already knew what I'd be getting. WRONG!! Besides waiting all day after they said it would take less than 4 hours, I picked up my car to find my tint was HORRIBLE!! I don't know if they didn't clean the glass or what but you could see fibers, lint, bubbles..it was disgusting. So, of course we complained and they said they would fix it. I don't even think they did, they had the car for another day and when we picked it up, it was still messed up. And was making this horrible screeching sound when we rolled down the windows. And they basically didn't seem to give a shit either. The guy acttually said he would have to remove the door panels to fix the squeeking because it was caused by glue. Ya, if you can't even do my tint right, I'm really gonna let you take apart my door panels on my brand new car??? I just want to smash all my windows and get new glass, I'd take the tint off but I forgot to mention the GLASS WAS ALL SCRATCHED!!! My wife and I have been going here for years and we've always had a good experience. Between the two of us we've had radios, subs, car starters, and tint installed in several cars. Ron is a great guy and will give it to you straight without trying to take you for a ride. They were able to install a car starter in my wife's 13' IS350 when others (including one of the dealerships) said it either couldn't be done or was going to be $800+. This was a very positive experience. They were able to completely fix my radio and CD player after I clumsily had spilled coffee on it. Ron and his crew explained the process to me in detail and were always available if I called with questions.
