My sorority rented the small pavilion for a picnic reunion which was a good time, like Angela said, "in the golden years of my youth," :D Since Mom lives around the corner, she and I, (and my fav. Sister) have driven Mom to and around Ditto to stop and eat lunch, enjoying the view of the TN river, and just take Mom on a "joyride." Yesterday, Mom and I did a Ditto visit and, sweet 88 year old Mom summed it up as she was reading the ancient "beautification award" outside the larger pavilion, she said "beautification award - for what?!?!?!" :D Ditto has always had so much potential to be a true destination for **so** long and it just falls short. I can't count the times local news would announce a restaurant coming to Ditto and then the masterplan to develop Ditto into a destination (uploaded to the photos) was so exciting! These great plans never seem to materialize. I get it - it floods; however, the masterplan seemed to have mitigation plans for that. I attended an event (wine tasting maybe) in large pavilion in the 80s and it looks like, as of yesterday, the pavilion has had zero updates and hardly much upkeep since then. I didn't bother walking in to get a look see, it was just unappealing from the parking lot, which is in crappy shape, too. I'm happy we have Ditto, and it is a nice place for a shady picnic by the marina, and the smaller Winstead Pavilion was a nice area for my sorority picnic/reunion. It's covered (of course) and has at least one ceiling fan, with easy parking. I just wish Huntsville's masterplans materialized more often than they seem to, and again, wish Ditto was more than a harbor, campsites, RV hookups, a small children's playground, ample fishing from the banks, pavilions, and dry docks.

You had to park on a giant rock hump. garbage on the site was everywhere. The area up front was not mowed or kept up in any way. There are no amenities up here, just in the back by the marina. The road was rough to park our RV. No military discounts. so if you are desperate for a one night stay, go for it. I will not be back.

Jones Farm Park has a flat, paved path that winds around two large ponds. One section running along…read moreone of the ponds is gravel, but it can be avoided. There is always a pretty good sunset, as it reflects off the still water! There are a few pavilion coverings with picnic tables, as well as a few benches around the ponds. I quite often see people fishing. There are a numbers of ducks, so sometimes you have to watch your step to avoid their droppings. There are no bathrooms and the parking lot is pretty small. Although, there is a short pedestrian bridge connecting the path to the parking lot of the shopping center nearby (with Handel's ice cream and Peppered Pig). Also, on the far side of the park (behind the second large pond), the path connects to the sidewalk on Carl T Jones (close to Yogurt Mountain). You can also cross 4 Mile Post at a crosswalk with flashing lights to get to a section of the Aldridge Creek Greenway.

Since it was sprinkling out, there were only a few people out. A man BF knew walking his beautiful pup, Lilly and a man and his son who were fishing. I asked them what they caught and they caught a turtle! I was happy they caught and released the little critter. Or maybe it was big, I didn't get a chance to see it. Tom and Lilly were a delight to talk to - well Lilly didn't talk or bark either. And the pavilion and two ponds were a nice respite from the long day both BF and I had. There were ample garbage cans, nice walking/running paths, maybe (I wasn't sure) a free little library (it was empty making it hard to tell what it was), the pavilion with picnic tables and plenty of seating and lots of geese. Why no 5th star? Tom told us the goose poop was cleaned up recently, but it really was not cleaned all that well under the pavilion. Do check out Jones Farm Park, it is really pretty and peaceful. Looks like a decent spot to fish, too!

What we got was ... the absolute perfect location to spend a night above a 50ft waterfall that lullabied us to bed. A perfect storm came through in the night to maintain that REM. Then a fuller waterfall and a few dozen songbirds to wake us up in the morning. Not even temped to hit the snooze button on that! Mr.Miller's hospitality is superb. He enjoys sharing his creativity, which is impressive, and thanks to it we had a perfect glamper to stay in and have this great experience. We took our time getting up, had some coffee, and drank it on the back deck as we watched the waterfall, yes you read that right ..... waterfall is visible from the glamper, just laying in bed I can lift my head and see it. After morning, coffee we hiked down to the bottom of the falls and soaked in the beauty and the privacy of it.

The selection of golf clubs is pretty extensive as well. They also have athletic shoes, bicycles, weights, treadmills. Most of the items are reasonably priced but NOT when it comes to the clothing. Even on the clearance rack the clothes still seem outrageously priced. You can get the same quality athletic apparel at Kohl's for sometimes half the price.

This was my first experience on the Duck River, and it was a great one! Higher Pursuits made…read morebooking online really easy, the pricing was fair, many different options as to what type of boat you wanted for the day, and offered updates on Facebook in regards to weather/closings for the day. The location was really easy to find, once we arrived we checked in and were offered some general information about what to do and the location of changing rooms/restrooms. We were also given instructions about the route we would be floating, the vast collection of mussels we may see, and information about other wildlife we may come across, and safteg information. The launch is a quick drive from the base location. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. They got us all set up and sent us on our way. The water was shallow, but still had some nice current in places. The Duck River was extremely peaceful, and not over crowded (the spacing out between groups from Higher Pursuits helped with that greatly). Getting picked up at the end, and knowing where to stop was also made to be a breeze. Higher Pursuits runs things like a well oiled machine and really has a great system going! Between the ease of everything, the peaceful kayaking location, and the friendly customer service I could not have asked for a better experience!
