I've been a patient there for many years and was very upset with the new appointment system. The last 2 times I was there in the past few weeks, I had appointments and wasn't told at sign in that they were running behind. Both of my appointments were started 30 min later than the actual appt. I was there 2 weeks ago and was supposed to have 2 procedures back to back and had to take off work and b/c of them running behind, only received 1 service and had to take off work again to come back and was sitting in the waiting room 30 min past my appt. time, VERY UPSET!!!!!!!!! The dental staff told me there is a new office system to try and get everyone in but there should'nt be a patient not taken on time or close to it so that others are then pushed back after they take off work. Everyone's time is just as valuable as the next person. I love the dental team but just wish whoever is doing these new appointments would go back to the old way of making the patients happy and on time for their next part of the day. read more

The type of care was awesome. Dental assistant was very nice and professional. The dentist was very knowledgeable and answered any question I had and helped with my particular situation. Only negative was I got a price for everything of $290 and when I went to the counter to check out they charged me $330 because of an x-ray they forgot. I understand, but when you have a fixed budget I should have been charge the $290 that I was told. read more

Dr Chitamus is Amazing. The Business Office is extremely personable and knowledgeable.

The office has a different dentist every time. It is extremely difficult to get an appointment and you end up scheduling only 1 time annually due to limited appointments. I scheduled my next appointment upon leaving which should be for a six month follow up and had to make it for 8months out. So again will be stuck with myself and my child being with a single annual cleaning. read more

Only gave one star because I had to. Worst experience from a dentist in 35 years. My normal dentist is great. I love her she's amazing. However she is on maternity leave and I need a crown so I had to see someone else. Dr chitimus. She had the worst bedside manner that I've ever experienced in an office. She did not listen when I explained I had sensitivity. She looked at the notes and asked me if I had trouble getting numb which I said yes. Then, she used the numbing gel and when she went to stick me with the needle I flinched. She screamed at me saying I grabbed her arm and was using sharp instruments. Then she slammed them back on the tray and quickly left the room as if I hurt her in some way. When the assistant came back I asked for a new dentist and they said it wasn't possible I said I'm not comfortable proceeding. When dr chitimus came back in. She yelled at me some more and told me just leave , go. Cindy at the front desk was very empathic and sweet. Gave me a hug as I left in tears. read more

After I moved to Carroll County I found that my dentists office was just a little too inconvenient when going to appointments. So, I tried Carroll County Dental Associates. Here's what I liked and didn't about this practice. Sandy, the dental hygienist is fabulous. She's personable, and really good at her job. She was the best part of this practice. I was less impressed with the rest of the staff I experienced. I did not get warm and fuzzy feelings from the dentist (I'll leave her name unmentioned) and maybe I shouldn't say it, but I sensed some tension between the staff/hygienists and the dentist. The location was convenient. The office was clean. A confused treatment plan with poor communication to the patient (me). Primarily, the biggest reason for my low rating is because the front desk could never get the billing/insurance correct. **Services were provided that was not covered by insurance without clearing it with me first. **Every time I had a service performed my share of the bill was way more than what was estimated by the front desk. At this practice you pay at the time the service is performed, and they provide the patient with their portion of the services performed up front. However, they don't seem to really understand insurance billing, services covered, etc... I'd normally give this a pass, but at this practice I found myself ALWAYS getting another bill from this practice after the insurance claim gets paid. The bill on many occasions was over $100. How could you get this billing estimate so wrong - so many times? I bit the bullet and chose to go back to my old dentist. The treatment plan is clear. The billing is straight-forward and they don't present me with additional invoices for charges that were not correctly estimated up front. read more

Wonderful place to go. Never I have had such a pleasant experience with a dental office. I have been to several in the area and this is hands down the best. I had to get fillings and I swear I almost fell asleep in the chair while they were doing the fillings. Normally I am full of anxiety but it was so easy and relaxing. I couldn't believe it. The whole experience was a mess. Tried to book an appt online, after 2 days w no response I called and told the woman that I would be a new patient, needed a cleaning and would like an overall check up to discuss work I knew needed to be done. She asked if I was in any discomfort - and apparently this is where things went wrong - I told her I had periodic sensitivity that might be a cavity, it was one thing I'd like looked at. She apparently then booked me for an Urgent Care apt, but never told me that - I waited 2+ weeks for the apt so it never occurred to me this was a rush apt. Got to the apt and had to listen to Christmas music a week before Thanksgiving, patients in the waiting room all bonded over how irritating the music was and then how long each of them had been sitting there waiting past their scheduled apts. The Dental Tech and Dentist were fine, good at explaining everything, etc. The dentist let me know what work I'd need done and it was to be expected - what was NOT expected was that I'd just been showed out without a Cleaning or anything else done. A Cleaning and New Patient Exam each have to be separate visits, then the work itself a 3rd visit - so without insurance I just paid $165 to have almost nothing done and be told to make 2 more apts to do what I'd booked to begin with & then another for the actual work. The estimates are insanely high - like crazy, crazy high. 40% more than I paid for dental work in NJ - literally the only thing in MD that costs more than NJ since we moved 15 mos ago. Every single decent dentist I've ever worked with has been far kinder to those without dental insurance than you will find here. No one should be paying over $300 for a Cleaning! They explained I'd been given an Urgent Care apt...so follow this, if you need Urgent Care here you will wait more than 2 weeks to be seen & evaluated & then have to make additional appts to get the work done at a later date. So understand that Urgent Care at this facility means a minimum 3 week wait, and that's when they speed things up. And that's assuming they book you right to begin with and listen to anything you've said. read more

The office staff is very efficient & friendly as well as the dental staff. They seem to be up on the latest dental tech. The scanning technology, used for crowns, bite correction devices, night guards, etc., sure beats taking impressions!!! My night guard scan was e-mailed to the manufacturer before I left the office! read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful everyone at Carroll County Dental is! I usually see Angie as my hygienist, and she is awesome, but all of them have always been great. I am seeing Dr. Romay and she has been fabulous, very patient and listens to any questions you have. She takes her time with you. The dentist I had was nice and I like her.The office will nickle and dime you to death. The office suggested invisalign for some minor crowding on the bottom. I had ask for an estimate if insurance didnt cover. So I was given an estimate. Well after I found out that insurance covered a large amount. I scheduled appt. Well when I went for appt price increased by 3000. I explained I had an estimate less than a month old that stated differnt price. First they said we don't have a copy in your chart of that. We always put it in charts. Basically stating I was lying. Well I had a copy in the car. Once I brought in copy they huddle off to the side and the manager stated well this for 16 trays and you'll need the full treatment of 20 trays. (Also after everything was sent to labs the treatment diagnosis was 16 trays) Stating they would lower estimate by only 1000 and that's the best they can do. So paid the amount they said it would be. Well when I recieved my explanation of benefits . It show that the amount the office charge me. I was OVER charged about 1200 over what my insurance said I should pay. When I called they told me they don't credit when it comes to invisalign. I agreed on an amount and that's wont be getting a credit or refund. I would have left then but I know from working in dental its hard transfer ortho to another provider. Well I went for my last ortho in the summer and now was billed 124.50 .When I called they said my insurance maxed on orthro and thats my balance. Well how about taking out of the 1200 I over paid in the beggining.Again we don't credit invisalign doesnt matter what your insurance says. Whenever I have over paid on a doctor visit and my explanation of benefits say patient responsible is this or that the doctor office has reimbursed me. Just as if insurance didnt cover a certain amount I get billed. I will never go to this crooks again. Don't trust this place. read more

Nice doctors but their practice will do everything possible to inconvenience their patients. They will not accommodate the needs of their patients. They don't even call you to remind you of appointments. They will also try to sell you every fancy, expensive product that endorses them such as Water Pik, Invisalign, and expensive mouth guards. You can't trust them to know what you really need. For three years they tried to sell me Invisalign and then suddenly admitted that I wasn't a candidate for Invisalign all along. Were they just pulling my leg?? I will not be returning. read more
