After a practice that didn't take covid seriously, did an unnecessary and COSTLY dental procedure that I am still healing from weeks later, hurting my lip, and being just a complete disorganized disaster, I'm really lucky that my second shot at dentistry was so much better. I prefaced in my last review that I made the mistake of not going to the dentist for a long time - granted, I didn't have insurance for 6 months and then the moment I got insurance, covid happened and I got scared. But still, it's reasonable I had a ton of build up/tartar/gum disease and definitely a wake up call for me. At the last dentist, I was told immediately I needed a root and scaling/deep clean without them even doing the measurement thing on my gums, just x-rays. They did the root and scale on my right side but not my left (only one is done at a time), which has left me weeks later with angry miserable gums, gaps in my teeth I didn't prior have, and cost me $500 out of pocket. When I got to Dr. Hoang, she actually took her time examining my x-rays, my gums, and my mouth to find that 1) the deep clean didn't even deep clean, as I still had a bunch of tartar making my gums even more unhappy and 2) my gums weren't as bad as I had thought, and I didn't even need to do a root and scaling/deep clean on the left side. If I had gone to Dr. Hoang in the first place, I wouldn't be still miserable, with ugly and uncomfortable gaps in my teeth that I literally struggle to talk and eat with, and wouldn't be out $500 as all she did was a regular cleaning for me on the left. My biggest disappointment is I didn't go to her first. On top of that she's super sweet, lets you ask questions, doesn't make you feel bad about your obvious mistakes, and makes sure you fully feel comfortable before she does anything. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in dentistry. The practice is also great!!! Sallie from reception was very pleasant over the phone and email, and I'm not sure if it was her or a different receptionist at the front today, but she was great too. Everyone is wearing masks and taking Covid very seriously. They sent out a covid form the night before and took my temperature when I arrived. And...... last thing, they were playing Death Cab for Cutie when I walked in. As a born and raised Seattleite, this made me so happy :)

Have never had any other dentist try to push wisdom tooth removal on me since there's actually not anything there to remove... Finally, the office claimed repeatedly that they didn't receive my X-rays from my old dentist back in Michigan, so I paid something like $200 for another set of X-rays. Checked back with my Mich dentist after the appointment, and they insisted that they sent them to 1st Impression. Hmm... But yeah, a simple cleaning hurt. A lot. That's reason enough for me to not go here again.

Upon arrival, I filled out the first time patient survey, which asks about general patient health/dentist history. When Dr. Shahin was ready to see me, he clearly didn't read my answers as he kept asking me the same questions that were on the survey. After the questions, he told me he needed to do an x-ray. I felt like Dr. Shahin was trying to soak up my insurance money. I've never had a dentist in the past request to do an x-ray just for a teeth cleaning. Secondly, he was pretty aggressive in trying to sell me in removing my wisdom teeth. I have had 2 previous dentists tell me that my wisdom teeth will grow in fine and I don't need them taken out. After finding out I am getting married next month, he posed the question, "Should we schedule your wisdom teeth removal before or after your wedding?" Seriously? I know friends who required weeks to recover after getting their wisdom teeth removed. You want me to try to schedule that in before my wedding?! Lastly, I felt like he was inexperienced in teeth cleaning. While using the electric spinning tool that polishes/applies toothpaste to my teeth, he didn't pull my lip up and let the electric spinning tool hurt my lip. There's a small/reasonable amount of pain that usually comes with a teeth cleaning - I mean they have to scrape off plaque off your teeth, I know to expect some discomfort. But he let my lip get caught against the electric spinning polisher tool. I was really happy to escape his office when the teeth cleaning was over. I will never, ever go back.
