When wait times occurred, they were extremely minimal, and Dr. Halabi always made himself available to answer any questions I had about the process. I never told him that I have a low-key fear of dentists and orthodontists because it just never came up! I always felt like I was in good hands with the doctor and every tech. They claimed my last scan was taken three months prior to completion and is "inaccurate," yet they successfully fabricated a final retainer for me at the end of treatment--which is impossible without an accurate final scan. This appears to be a misleading tactic to force me into a new office visit and a $500 fee for a new scan and retainer. Withholding records to coerce a sale is a violation of HIPAA (45 CFR § 164.524) and NY Law. I have officially filed a federal complaint (Case #683173) and a report with the NY State Board of Professional Discipline. I will update this review only once my legally-entitled records are released. I strongly advise others to be aware of these gatekeeping tactics before starting treatment here. Me: Yes Receptionist: When did you have braces? Me: a good 10 years ago when I was a teenager Receptionist: Oh ok. Well there's an $80 consultation fee if it's been five or more years since you've had braces. Me:... uh why didn't you tell me this on the phone? I was told it was a free consultation. Receptionist: **shrugs shoulders** Why is a free consultation provided for those who never had braces and an $80 fee charge for those who had braces? Why would having braces affect the price of a consultation? Why do you lie to people on the phone and mislead them to get them to come to your office? How does that help your business at the end of the day? Anyone who looking for any orthodontic care, do yourself a favor and don't come here. It's a complete bait and switch. So unprofessional and no integrity in providing quality service.
