We were so impressed with the facility and especially the staff--we really hated to leave, but his health situation made it necessary. I wanted to share how fabulous the staff at Arbor is. We NEVER had a negative experience with anyone there. The maintenance folks, dining staff, housekeeping, front desk folks, drivers, and management are all good at what they do and seem to really care about the residents--creating a family atmosphere. It is rare to find a place where everybody values the residents while being effective at their work. Arbor Terrace is that place. The price is high but it is all inclusive and really has a family atmosphere. There are many activities, food is quality, wine included if wanted, transportation, comfortable roomy apartments, nice pool. A really nice place for seniors who need a bit of help.

My grandmother didn't have that much dementia, but the place where we "placed" her was not nearly as wonderful as this Emeritus location. I think she would have been a great candidate for one of their "wings" - if only she had lived here and not in Rome, maybe we could have had her there. Here's the deal - Emeritus has 11 metro-Atlanta facilities, four that are dementia-specific, so to speak, and over 400 locations nationwide. From meeting with one of the key folks today, and meeting other staff and directors, it is clear that they are committed to the very best in patient care and treatment. Each resident has a nameplate on the door, and a photo/collage type thing next to their door with whatever they feel portrays them best- family pics, notes, etc. Even better, the four "sections" of the facility are decorated like....things that make you happy! My favorite was the "beach" themed room- and the hair salon! In one corner of a wing, they even have an old-fashioned mirror/dressing table and vintage dresses next to it. Wow. Beyond the aesthetics, it was clear that the staff really cares, and that anyone whom I love would be well tended to at this place...I witnessed staffers calling everyone they saw by name, carefully tending to the sofas in the lounge area, checking on people in their rooms or in the common dining area or group activity area. Really, it was - overwhelming. Bob Carr and staff do an incredible job, it seems - if I get totally *out there* one day, for whatever reason, this is the kind of place I would want to be.

We needed a place that would take care of normal daily responsibilities for him plus cook his meals. Everywhere we looked had a typical nursing home feel to it and I was so sad having to consider placing my dad in such a place. He has such a huge spirit, he is the life of the party and he is super active and social. But it seemed that the other facilities were either independent senior living OR full nursing care. "There's GOT to be something in between that offers a range.. something beautiful?? YES! There is! THIS IS IT! Live music every week, happy hour, an elegant dining room where he can sit and chill with his friends and laugh... and he laughs a lot! He loves it at The Orchard! It's the answer to our prayers for the place we'd been dreaming of!
