I've been going to Carr's for quite a few years dating back to the food truck, original brick and mortar, back to the food truck and now the new location. I've always had their awesome brisket but now they've added a burger so I wanted to try that. Man it's awesome! You can taste the quality of the locally grown meat. The hand cut fries are great too, obviously being cooked in clean oil. I do wish there were more in that portion, but they're a quality set of French fries! I'm excited to have this place in its new location and will continue being a frequent visitor. read more

Excellent food! Stopped in for the brisket plate. I like my brisket lean, I know that is sacrilege but its one thing I like a certain way. I asked the woman behind the counter if she could request that with the back staff and she totally did! What I got was absolutely PERFECT!!! Great flavors without being overly smokey! I also got the mac&cheese. It was delicious! I also got the green beans which were good. I went here the other night, and got the hamburger with french fries and a side order of mac & cheese, the hamburger was so good and it was huge. You could probably cut it into and share it with your friend. The fries and mac & cheese were delicious. Also only thing is I wish they sold beer. The new dine in location is very nice with plenty of seating. The smoked turkey sandwich was so yummy and there was plenty of meat on it. I had the red potato salad and Mac and cheese. The potatoe salad was very tasty. The Mac and cheese was ok, a little dry. The sandwich with 2 sides and water to drink was $14.40. The service was good. This was mine and my husband's first time trying this place. Barbecue is one of my top favorite foods, but we were very disappointed. $17.51 for 1/4 rack of ribs with 2 sides. The meat was almost cool and was nowhere 'fall off the bone'. In fact, we weren't even sure if they were cooked all the way through due to some areas being a little too pink for comfort and very chewy. Decided to bring them home to give to our dog, once we wash them off. On another note the potato salad was very good. read more

Called multiple times during business hours since their new reopening and they never answered, and the voice mailbox is full. Their hours are crazy nuts and obviously they do not want any evening patrons as they close at 6pm. What? 6-9pm is prime time for business. I finally got an Facebook reply as to my inquiries and the person was RUDE and as obnoxious in their reply as they could be. Is Carr's BBQ good food? I will never know as I can't get by being treated rudely upon my inquires and I tend to eat dinner after 6pm at night as do most others. read more

I've had some great BBQ and I also know my way around the smoker. The place is typical for cool BBQ joints; nice atmosphere, comfortable setting....and incredible scents. My buddy and I showed up for lunch and both decided on the pulled pork plate which also includes two generous helpings of sides. I went with the smokey 'baked' beans and cole slaw. As a huge fan of those two particular sides alongside BBQ, I was pretty impressed with the flavors. The slaw was nice and crunchy and done in a creamy style with large shave pieces of cabbage. Very nice! The beans were as good as any I have ever had. Perfect hickory smoked flavor and as tender as a bean gets. And now for the star of the show.....I would put this pulled pork BBQ against any in this area and quite a few of I can think of down south. I took advantage of the unlabeled (presumably home made) BBQ sauce on the table...wait.....back to that in a sec! So as I'm looking at this whopper sized bun, the pork and spilling over the sides and stacked a few bites deep. A very healthy portion. Typically I take the crown off of the sandwich, grab a fork and take a few bites in to catch all of the effort of long smoking such a delicious cut of meat. Carr's hits BBQ right on the head. PERFECT bark, PERFECT smokey flavor, and PERFECTLY cooked to an unbelievable melt in your mouth experience. Back to the sauce. There was another sauce on the table (this one was yellow)that I didn't try but I will next time. Since it was yellow, I assumed it was a Carolina style BBQ sauce. I LOVE sauces, especially on great BBQ! While the BBQ itself didn't need any help from a sauce, I had to try the red stuff anyway. Let me just say that I would bought a jar right then and there if it had been for sale. The flavor was somewhere between Beale Street in Memphis, and authentic Texas 'twang'. I want more. Now. Yes, Carr's earned my 5th star on the food alone, but it would be unfair not to mention the friendly service and speed of being served (during lunch hour, no less) which was 5-star as well. NICELY DONE CARR'S, I'll be seeing you again very soon! Oh, there's one more thing. The meats at Carr's are locally sourced, so the prices are very, very good. I would have expected to pay at least $17 for so much great food that was truly enough for two sittings, but the total for the two plates and a couple of Big Reds came to just $28. Had not been to Carr's BBQ in awhile. My son suggested it because he will only eat salmon from them. So we went and ordered 3 smoked salmon plates. It was delicious. I am not a big salmon eater but I will gladly order theirs. The seasoning and smokiness was right on. We had a mixture of sides from smoked bake beans, to red coleslaw and red potato salad. All the sides were devoured. I also tried the new smoked Cajun sausage. It was very good without being too spicy. We will have to stop off more at Carr's, it was really good. read more

The smell of their freshly cooking BBQ can not be beat, the air is filled perfectly with seriously great notes of good things to come. Brisket is chopped and tender, with no need for the sauce, which has a little kick in the finish. Chopped pork has some nice burnt ends. Sides are very good, the potato salad was a bit overly coated, but everything else from macaroni and cheese to beans were excellent. Here's an independently-owned "sleeper" restaurant providing some of this area's best Bar-B-Que, and sure to bring a Covid-19 shut-down smile to your taste buds! Okay, like many Yelpers, I've had spotty results at best with Covid-19 related take-out food. Not at Carr's! What a terrific surprise to discover a restaurant doing things right! Our food order was called-in around noon for a belated Father's Day pick-up scheduled for 6:00pm. I arrived just before the appointed time as my order was being wrapped and boxed. I was gone in less than 5 minutes. Our order included a full rack of spare ribs, one pound each of pulled pork and brisket, rounded-off with a quart of mac-n-cheese (a real crowd pleaser). With a side of green beans we prepared at home, this order easily fed 4 adults to the point of button-popping, with plenty of leftovers to provide me and my wife with dinner the next day. Bottom line: If, like me, you've experienced some disappointing take-out experiences during this CV-19 shut-down you cannot go wrong with a take-out order from Carr's! Located in Floyds Knobs, but with super-easy access from Louisville via the 265 State Street exit just past the Sherman Minton Bridge. Hang a right up Paoli Pike and you'll be there in nothing flat! When you step inside of Carr's ignore the dim lighting and stale odors because their BBQ food is scrumptious! Service was friendly and our order came out lickety-split. We tried every "fixin" on the menu and favored the red potato salad and cole slaw, neither of which were too savory or too sweet. The mac and cheese was kind of dry while the green beans had a bit too much spice for my preference. My pulled pork was a little dry, but my husband's beef brisket was tender and well-seasoned. We'll definitely purchase meals from Carr's again (can't wait to try their smoked salmon)! read more

I think the point was previously made that this is a small operation that really delivers excellent food. On our first trip we had the Slow Smoked Salmon with the Dill and Caper Sauce.......this was perfectly done. I enjoyed the sides of Mac+Cheese and Creamy Red Cole Slaw. My wife had the same salmon along with Green Beans. Friends advised us to call a head and reserve the salmon because this is a smaller kitchen we rec'd the last of this dish. We got the meat platter. It was so much meat. Two of us were able to eat and still had plenty to bring home. The andouille sausage was soooo good. The turkey was moist and delicious. The ribs had a lot of meat, and really good bark. Definitely worth the price. BEST BBQ AROUND. read more

Super expensive, which I wouldn't mind paying but we happened to stop by for lunch and the meat, and Mac n cheese were super dried out. They had a large catering order at the time so I'm more than willing to give them another shot. We did, it was pretty good, salmon is probably the best thing but I'd skip the sides. I just went through the drive thru and ordered the brisket sandwich, mac and cheese and green beans. I am hyper sensitive to anything spicy hot and nowhere on the menu was there anything saying it was hot. Needless to say, I got home and everything is spicy hot. Even the mac and cheese and green beans. I mean seriously, who makes spicy mac and cheese? So I wasted my money because I can't eat any of it. If you like spicy you're going to like it. Great locally owned and operated BBQ. My only gripe Is that they close early with no warning, but the salmon, pulled pork and brisket allow for their artistic temperament. Please support these local businesses and stop giving your money to McDonalds and Taco Bell (multinational corporations that give nothing back to our community). The Mac and cheese was dry, the turkey was dry. It was a great flavor, but could use a sauce. I did not care for the available sauce flavor. And most of all, the guy who made my sandwich did not wear gloves! I do not know how many things he has touched before he grabbed a bun out of a pack and then made my sandwich. read more
