A little place with great BBQ in Floyds Knobs. Have liked everything I've tried and I just moved here from South Carolina!

The sauce deserves to be bottled and sold everywhere--it's that good. The portions are spot-on for the price, and the quality across the board is unreal. The macaroni and cheese might be the best thing on the menu, with the beans right there behind it--but trying to rank anything feels pointless when everything hits at such a high level. What really sets it apart though is the consistency and care you can taste in every bite. This isn't just good BBQ--it's the kind of place you go out of your way for, the kind you bring people to when you want to show them what real deal BBQ is supposed to taste like. Add in incredibly kind and welcoming management, and it's not even a question--this place is going to be a 5-star staple.

They let us know they're open Friday-Sunday with running specials each day. And they're open March to November. They also do Smoked turkeys & other meats for Thanksgiving. The smoked meat was great & the warmed bottle of bbq sauce on the side was a nice touch. Our personal favorite sides were Mac & cheese & the potato salad. The baked beans are good with a unique flavor (I want to say all spice) The other sides were just average but not bad. Overall we loved this place & will definitely be back. Most likely ordering that smoked turkey for our next Holiday event. :)

Well, partner, you best steer your boots toward Smokin' Hawgs. Nestled in the old Main Street Pizza building, this joint might still be a work in progress, but it's already staking its claim as a local treasure. The inside seating might be on the cozy side, but don't let that fool you--there's ample room for comfort. And soon, a new patio with a gazebo will grace the front and side, offering a prime view of the creek that meanders beside it. While you're relaxin' and enjoyin' your meal, you'll also have a perfect view of the century-old courthouse in the town square, a grand piece of history that adds to the charm of this small town. Imagine sittin' under the gazebo, the sun setting over the horizon, and the gentle murmur of the creek as you savor every bite. That's the kind of experience Smokin' Hawgs is fixing' to offer. Now, let me tell y'all about the man behind the magic--Daryel. He's a dedicated chef and a fellow Masonic brother, rising with the rooster each morning to prepare the day's meats and sides. Every dish is crafted with pure love and passion, and it shows in every mouthful. **What we tried:** - **Brat Slider:** I took a bite, and it was like striking gold. Each morsel was a burst of flavor that had me wanting more. - **Pulled Pork Sandwich:** My wife saddled up to this dish, and let me tell ya, she's a tough critic. But this time, she cleaned her plate, leaving nary a crumb behind, except the bread. The pulled pork was plentiful, the baked beans were rich and savory, and the scalloped potatoes were creamy and delightful. - **4 Rib Meal:** My daughter chose this, and those ribs were tender as a gentle breeze, falling right off the bone. I had a taste of the beans--lip-smacking good, I tell ya. The ribs were seasoned to perfection, and each bite was a journey through flavor town. Daryel's signature sauces are the perfect sidekick to the star of the show--the meat. Each sauce complemented the flavors beautifully, adding a delightful kick that lingered on the taste buds. So, whether you're a local lookin' for your next favorite spot or just a traveler passing through, Smokin' Hawgs is worth every mile of the journey. With Daryel's dedication and the rustic charm of the place, you're in for a meal that's as memorable as a Western sunset. Giddy up and head on over to Smokin' Hawgs, where every meal is a culinary adventure crafted with heart and soul, all while takin' in the sights of the historic town square and its venerable courthouse.

If you are heading north on Hwy 135 between Brownstown and Nashville, IN, you will come to a…read morelittle town called Freetown. If you make a lap through town to check it out, you may see a little place called Sgt. Rick's BBQ. I decided to try it, being a fan of little out of the way restaurants. It is a nice looking little place, not a dive. When you go on you are immediately taken by the United States Marine Corp and Trump decor. If you are a flaming progressive, you might want to turn around and leave. If you don't care what one's politics is who cooks your lunch, then take a seat. If the food is good, I don't care whether the decor is Trump or Bernie Sanders. The friendly waitress came over and took my drink order, while I looked at the menu. It is a menu that one would have to study for quite some time to learn all its nuances. I saw brisket in 3 different places each with different combinations. I saw a brisket sandwich for $7.50, not outrageous by today's standards. When he waitress came back, I said, I just want a brisket sandwich and fries. She said she could do that. After probably ten minutes, the namesake of the establishment brought my order. The sandwich was adequate, bordering on a generous portion. The fries were hot, and not a particularly generous portion. The brisket was very good. After finishing, I noticed another patron go to the counter to pay his bill, which was absent from his hand. Apparently the bill was given to the proprietor instead of the patron. That's kind of strange. Oh well. When I went to pay the bill, I said, I had Coke, Brisket and Fries. "That's $17.70, or there about. Perhaps I was a little tired, because I failed to inquire how he arrived at that number. As I thought about it later, the fries and coke would have added up to somewhere around $9. Okay, if that's the price. I guess I should have inquired when I placed the order, since I never really saw fries on the menu. But, to never see the bill, and take the total by faith, I found just a bit strange. I have never done it that way before. I like the old Ronald Reagan adage, "Trust but Verify." The old sarge surely wouldn't have a problem with that, since he had a picture of Ronald Reagan on the wall. The bottom line: The food was good. I don't like the way they do business. The prices are high. Make sure you know from the menu or the server how much it's supposed to cost.
