I was very pleased with my initial purchase of a door and opener. They took one section of the door being replaced and swapped it with the other door that I was keeping. Recently I called for service on one of my doors and the installer stopped by and took care of the problem on his way back to the shop. I had dealt with two other door companies in the past and I was less than pleased. Everything about my experience was pleasing from the office staff to the installer. Five years ago, Carr's installed our double garage doors. I was happy with the sales and service. However, for the last two weeks, one of my doors has been going up and down, day and night due to a faulty LiftMaster MyQ controller panel. I called and explained the problem. They sent a technician today, who showed up an hour later than the appointment (I left work early to meet him) and proclaimed as he got out of van that he's had a lot of these failures recently, due to lightning strikes. (I'm instantly dubious, as the other door and no other electronics are damaged. And also, so lightning strikes near me in the last two months.) Technician says, these failures are so common that a replacement of the whole system is advisable. Cost $700. On the Lift Master website they admit that there is a glitch in the MyQ controller, and they will replace the $45 unit for FREE. So here is my consumer bitch: Carr's distributes Lift Master. They should (and obviously do) know if there is a chronic complaint and what remedy the manufacture offers. In this case, free hardware replacement! Instead, I was charged $120 for a service fee to tell me to look it up on line and have my husband replace it. Wanna keep a customer? Show up with the new FREE hardware, and I will gladly pay your tech to install it. Tell me to pay $700 to replace the control and motor? You get this review. read more

I previously posted regarding Carr Overhead Doors. I would like to amend my review. My garage door was not working and wouldn't close, of course it happened during the snow storm. I had to manually disconnect it in order to shut the door. I called Carr's and explained my problem and they were able to come out the very next day. Not only did he assess the problem but, he reinforced, fixed it and oiled. He also showed me how to oil it, engage it and gave me a safety tip as well! We needed a new garage door. Nothing fancy, but still seemed to be an expensive upgrade to make when we were pricing them on some other web sites. We finally felt like it was time to do it, but we did not want a sales person to come to the house, wanted to find one with a showroom, and price it out before I give anyone my address and phone number. They had a modest showroom that I could go to even during COVID. Told them what I was looking for and was a little surprised the price was well under what I thought was going to pay. Insulated steel door with a lock and a new track cost me less than a $1000. Took about 1 week. read more

Gave them a one star because there was nothing lower....Run away from this guy..do not walk..RUN.... Measured wrong..delaying project by 3 weeks...no apologies..no calls.. His website states an "elderly 10% discount"...he will avoid mentioning this or giving it... He used the old hanging brackets from from the original 40 yr old door..did not mention it to me thinking I would not notice..He stated that this was his standard practice.. He is a liar and unscrupulous...He will come out to measure and estimate, then you will never hear from him again...he has one worker who does an adequate job of installation, but they will not do any prep work or replacement of necessary woodwork, trim, etc... go with Palmer, Pezza or Fagan...wish I had... read more

Let me start by saying the garage door is an average insulated door. If I could have installed it myself it would have been a heck of a lot cheaper. They did a fine job of installing it but, they didn't tell me I would need someone to install a gfi plug in order to have the garage door opener work( which I also paid to have installed). Then to top things off they neglected to inform me that there would be an additional charge of 4% to pay be credit card. Since I didn't have an extra $1000 lying around to pay them it cash..I had to pay the extra 4% charge. Not only do I think it is unfair to charge the extra fee at all but, to never have disclosed it upfront was really unfair. read more

I'm very surprised by all the negative reviews. I have been using Carr's for about 5 years at various properties and always found them to be very professional and accommodating. As a matter of fact I had an issue with my door not opening after the snow storm and someone came within an hour and a half. I was very grateful for the quick response as I had to go to work. It turned out that it was frozen to the floor which he discovered immediately and was able to unstick it and he did not charge me! I will continue to use them and recommend them to anyone who asks. Quality door, quality installation. The "Senior Discount" which is plastered all over the website is non-existent. I walked in off the street to get a quote. The owner came later out to measure, and quoted the same price. I then learned about the "discount" after visiting the website and I asked about it. "The doors have already been discounted.". There is no reference to a discount on the invoice, just their regular price, which is competitive.But, don't expect a "senior discount". read more

The only response I have is Don from Carr's Overhead is the one who determined that the board had to be removed. Lowe's never came out to my house. I don't know how much money Lowe's was going to pay Don to remove the wood, but it was his determination that would've cost us money we did not have to spend. I notice you did not comment about the other one star reviews on your sight. End of story. read more

I made an appointment with this company for a garage door opener installation and they never showed up or called to reschedule. When I contacted them the following day, they provided lame excuses and were rude and unprofessional. Stay away from this company at all costs. read more

Called to make an appointment for an estimate. Was told that there would be someone there the next morning so, of course, I took the morning off to be there. No one ever showed, no one ever called. I didn't call for a re-schedule because if they can't even make a call to do an installation estimate, I could only image the disaster that would happen if they were actually contracted to do the work. read more
