By definition, a larder means a room or a large cupboard that's used for storing food. And woah,…read moredoes this shop live up to its name. The Larder is a beautifully arranged store full of gorgeously packaged products that will have you wondering whether you're buying something just for its pretty jar or for the actual product itself. It does make for handy gift shopping though (whose mum doesn't love a block of French chocolate or Blue Mountains handcrafted coffee?). They stock a really great range of Australian and international cheeses, Hunter Valley olive oil by the litre, and top brands like Christine Manfield, Byron Bay Chilli Co and Toby's Estate. If you're on your way to a dinner party or BBQ and need to take along a token offering, grab a loaf of Brasserie sourdough or a cheese platter. The specialty grocer store opened after the owners returned from France and realised how difficult it is to find all the quality local and imported products you wanr in the one place. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and clearly love what they're doing. There's plenty of parking available, just look for the green and white striped storefront.

Looking for some fine ingredients? Stop here…read more They've got some fine cheeses, breads, pastas, sauces, and more. Lots of artisan-produced foodstuffs from Australia and around the world. Good stuff for gifts to foodie people, or when you need to lay out bits and bites that need to impress. You can also buy quality olive oil in bulk - in their or your own containers - that is much closer to cheap bottled brands. Nice!

Parramatta…read more We started with a Raw feed to share: Wagyu Tartare: Finely chopped Wagyu with smoked yolk and tangy green dressing. Octopus: Shaved Octopus with chives, peri peri and lemon. Salmon: Whisky cured Salmon with cauliflower custard cream and fresh roe... All three of these dishes were a light and refreshing start to a three course meal ahead. I would highly recommend the shaved octopus it's unlike anything I've ever tried, thinly sliced and seasoned well, light and airy. For entrée I had the Pork Belly, which was chilli lime basted pork belly with kimchi crumb, puffed crackling and served with greens, adzuki beans and ponzu dressing. Main I opted for the Rib Eye (pictured) is a beef steak from the rib section. The rib eye steak's internal fat melting into the meat creates one of the juiciest steak eating experiences imaginable. And dessert Apple Pie: fried apple pastry with apple toffee cream, sour apple gel, mascarpone icecream and smoked maple syrup... If you're an apple pie lover, (yes that includes Maccas apple pie) then you're going to love this. It may not be the most photogenic of the lot, but damn this apple pie is whack! Crisp on the outside, soft apple centre and drizzled with maple oooh it's a dream.

Skewers were sufficient to share with another person as the serving is generous. Garlic buns were my favorite. Restaurant is very clean and deco is awesome.

The Garden Tap is an informal, small bar/pub food type place while The Cook's Garden is a fairly swanky (and very good) restaurant. We managed to leave the kids at home and go out for our wedding anniversary (19 years, thanks for asking). We had a booking at The Cook's Garden next door but stopped in here for a quick drink before dinner. We were very tempted to stay here instead. This is a small bar in the suburbs, so already a rarity. It's relaxed and casual. It's also not tragically hipster, which is a real rarity for a small bar. The drink selection is good (but not huge) with some nice craft beers and ciders. The food looks amazing though. Superb looking burgers. Amazing looking steaks. We very nearly cancelled our booking next door and ate here instead. We didn't though. We had a very nice meal next door and will have to eat (rather than just look at) the food next time. It's kid friendly so the next time we feel like taking the family out for the night we may well go here.

I like to be given the option of chips or salad so I opted for the salad. And a glass of cold Sav Blanc. Life is good! On Sunday afternoons they have live music. It kicks off from 4. And each Sunday a Sunday Roast is on the menu. This week it will be pink roasted lamb saddle, zaataar spiced stuffing and baked kiplers.

Undeniable the BESTEST coffee in Hurstville. Absolutely hands and knees down…read more They have a pretty cool interior made from wood with a funky graffiti artwork at the back wall as a feature. I'm also guessing they call themselves 18 grams because each double shot of coffee is precisely 18 grams? You know if a place is confident with their coffee if they serve it unconventionally. What I mean here is styles you won't get at a standard cafe. For example, cold drip, siphon etc... This place has everything. They also know some cool finishing touches that gets people coming back for more. During launch they gave out free coffee - a full coffee card. Being the snobby me I declined the card (I actually didn't know what they were giving out to be honest ...). But when I went there the first time they gave me a loyalty card with the first row all stamped meaning my next coffee was on them! Awesomeness #1. I love cookies and every coffee has a cookie on it! Awesomeness #2 ... I was sold. And what's Awesomeness #3? Their coffee :)
