I have visited this center on several occasions. Each visit has been a pleasant experience. This time was a 85th birthday . There several wings and each wing has banquet rooms for rental. The banquet rooms vary in size. There is a large atrium, ideal for large events. The natural lighting in this atrium is simply beautiful. There are plenty of clean bathrooms on the property. This entire property is clean with plenty of free parking. The parking lot is brightly lit for night parking. The taste of the food is what you would expect from a hotel banquet room. This center has a busy calendar of exercise classes and information on health, housing and finances. This is something for everyone! read more

We celebrated an ascension luncheon for our Bishop here. Very large venue space with lots of halls and rooms. You can have an event inside or outside, the whole place is very nice, clean and beautiful; with plenty parking spaces. The video and sound system was good and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good; we had plates with 2 meats, chicken and brisket, roasted potatoes and carrots, salad, bread and butter, plus water, lemonade, and carrot cake for dessert. Everyone left full and some left with to-go boxes. It was a very nice time and we all enjoyed the venue. read more

August 16th I hosted my 65th birthday celebration in the West Wing Lounge. The room is very unique and perfect for a party. Carlos, Emily and Stephanie went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect for my event. The food was delicious and abundant. I had the privilege of hosting my husband's 60th birthday party at the Carson Event Center and let me tell you they were more than professional. The front desk staff Ms., Frankie was more than great, you can actually feel her smile through the phone, she was a delight to talk with. Carlos and his staff were very accommodating, and he and his staff Maria took my party to another level. They made me feel like it was their personal party. There were no up sales, he actually told me how to get more bang from my buck. On the day of my event, they were there to show me around and calm my fears, as I was anxious about the event. I will forever be grateful to Carlos and his crew. Yelp has the wrong address in navigation. It leads to carson st in bixby knolls long beach. When I arrived there and landed at a big house I double checked. Wrong navigation address on yelp. So I had to manually type the address in, which then lead me to the right spot. Please fix those mistakes. I've had a few experiences like this on yelp. Waste of gas and time. Also some businesse sometimes just disappear on certain days. Other than that, carson center is good. read more

Attended a workshop at the Carson Center today. The room was split into two.. not sure how much space the other meeting had. The workshop hosted around 225 people. Tables weren't too close together which i really liked; you could easily walk through any way you wanted without being stuck or having someone wiggle their chair in for you to walk by. Staff was friendly and came to pick up the trash at our tables, finished lunch boxes. Big parking lot. The Carson Center sign is hidden but it's right by the community center (on the left) in front of the DoubleTree hotel. Interior is outdated but the big glass windows make up for it! Great spot for meetings, reception, etc. Location is almost right off the 405 freeway; convenient! read more

We had our event on July 10th, everyone from the first day we sat down and booked the event was friendly and professional. Always keeping us updated on any changes.. All staff went out of their way to make our daughters Graduation Party a memorable one. Carlos Gutierrez our Cateror and his entire crew, from the cooks, decorators, his awsome bartender, the waiters and waitresses A+. They are the best. Our DJ- Vince Ramos " Invincible DJ" the best. We recently got married here, I and honestly do not have 1 bad thing to say. Everything from the planning to the night of was perfect. The staff was friendly and super helpful. The venue was gorgeous. We had our ceremony outside then came inside for the reception. You have access to the entire facility for photos. I held an event this past weekend at the Carson Event Center. Raymond Litster initially assisted me with the selection of the room for my event. I then met with Carlos Gutierrez, Director of Operations-Choura Venue Services, who assisted me with the details of my event and prepared the catering contract. Carlos was a pleasure to work with and he provided helpful suggestions, guidance and assistance from planning through the date of the event. In the planning stages I also worked with Maria on Carlos' staff and with Stephanie Martinez, Event Services Coordinator. Both were very helpful. Also helpful along the way as well as on the day of the event was Cindy Perez, Assistant Event Coordinator. Cindy ensured that the set-up and arrangements met with my satisfaction. A delicious meal was prepared by Choura and was enjoyed by all. Guests received excellent service from our attentive servers, Erick (captain), Bianca, and Emily. The personable bartender prepared excellent drinks and interacted well with all guests. Many thanks to all of the staff. I threw an event here and from beginning to end there were serious difficulties, complications, and misinformation. We would be told one thing, then the next week they would say they never said that. They nickel and dimed us for everything then on the DAY of the actual event they didn't have any of the decor we had agreed on. They ordered the wrong tablecloths! Don't have your event here. I am so extremely disappointed with the Carson Center and Choura services, offered. For 3 months my event had been planned, with multiple meetings with Jackie (catering manager) and other staff. From the get go, Jackie displayed the most rude and unprofessional attitude, and acted as if we were a waste of her time. Multiple meetings and phone calls had to occur, and bring nickel and dimed for close to everything. This was the beginning. The day of the event, the colors of table cloths (which we payed extra for) were wrong, and setup of other parts were wrong or missing. Again, all under Jackie's leadership. As a manager, her job was to ensure everything we paid for and paid extra for might I add, was done correctly. During the event, the staff was laughing and talking loudly in the back, rolling carts (which made so much noise) and the food was cold. The amount of dissatisfaction and unprofessional Standards, was through the roof. The only saving grace of everything that went wrong was Carlos and Stefanie. Carlos was able to get things changed at the last second (very grateful for that) and Stefanie had tried her hardest to get things straightened out and helped, while having a very kind attitude. Very disappointed with Jackie and her lack of management and attitude and everything that went wrong, which could have been prevented. read more

I love my little community center. There are three HUGE ballrooms, 2 good-sized ballrooms, and some workshop/breakout rooms, which surround the outdoor patio, located in the center of the center. Weekly events are hosted for seniors and youth, and everyone inbetween. The folk at the front desk are usually knowledgeable. The rooms are nice and clean. I love my city! read more

The worst experience in ordering tickets. They have several 3rd party box office doing their tickets. So if you don't get your tickets in the mail or email beware on who you order them through. If you look up number online it changes on who you order tickets from. My tickets I ordered I never received. So I called the number online. they said I was not in the system so I thought the person I ordered from didn't order them. So I ordered again not knowing it was another co. I thought it was the Carson Ctr. Then I saw that I was charged twice on my visa. They told me it must have been through another box office co. So now I have 4 and they could not cancel my tickets. All I needed was 2 tickets for the Martina McBride Holiday show Nov. 30 and now I have 4 tickets on my credit card. This is so wrong! All I wanted was some Christmas Joy and I got more stress! read more

I came in to view a venue for my mom and dads anniversary. I googled a few spots and stumbled on the Carson Center. I didn't have an appointment but was able to speak to Lucille. She showed me the west wing lounge which was a nice room with a fire place and hall a which had a little patio. We decided on the west wing lounge. She sold us on it because it's more intimate. The layout was different then the other venues. We wanted to find a location that was fairly affordable and within our budget and we found it. The service was terrible. As I walked in a helper/employee asked me to throw my drink out. She only asked me and several others were eating and drinking too. I felt a little discriminated. After that she followed me outside and made sure I threw my drink out. Clearly there was no visible sign saying no outside food. I didn't know so it was a big miscommunication. She made me throw out my 6 dollar drink and I had just got it, the cup was full. It was hard for me to throw it away because it was like throwing 6 dollars in the garbage can. It made me feel really discriminated because everyone else was eating and drinking outside food while I was the only one asked to throw my drink away. If I could put zero stars I would. read more

I recently attended my cousins wedding reception at the Carson Center in the Dominguez Ballroom. It was was so beautiful! The ceilings were high, the lighting added to the elegance of the decor, and the air conditioner kept us all cool during the Summer heat. I've lived in the City of Carson and never knew about this place is a shame! I was looking for a venue for my wedding and started looking on the knot website. I ran across a ceremony photo and had to call. When I called a receptionist named nancy answered and politely transferred me to John. I spoke to John of my needs and asked to come in to tour the venue. We came in and he showed us Hall A Patio for a ceremony. As soon as we walked outside I definitely knew this my wedding venue. It had a beautiful landscape perfect for pictures. But to be honest the price was great. Me and soon to be hubby we're trying to stick within a certain budget and they meet the price perfectly. We got a cute bag and magazines with signing up on the knot.(future brides just FYI ). Anyways back to the Carson Center. We where looking around booth booth and saw a pretty big line. Wondering what every one was hovering over. So I strayed away and saw desserts! Mini cute bunt cakes! I quickly was drawed in. Cindy passed me a pastry while I spoke to lucille about the room options. And she explained how they were offering 50 percent off when booking 30 days from the show. Awesome, great venue to host weddings, birthdays, expos, meetings, etc....They have so many rooms to choose from. Outside patios to a garden called the soka garden. Very affordable compared to other venues. My family and I have hosted parties here since 1998. They recently remodeled some areas and changed the banquet chairs and carpet. It's good for guest coming from different directions because it's right off the 405fwy or down the street from the 91fwy. It's also across the parking lot from the double tree hotel. My family found that convenient. Also, there is pleanty of resturants to choose from that are around the corner. If you're planning an event at the carson center. Best event coordinators to speak to is John or Lucille. They are amazing. They attend to your needs and always in contact with you. read more

I came here for the "Black writers on Tour" book sale and signing. The facility was very large. Lots of conference rooms and large halls that would be great for large sized events or conventions. The main hall had a stage and sound system hookups. Nice outdoor courtyard as well. All in all, a great place to hold a large event. read more

CAVEAT EMPTOR!! (Let the buyer Beware) I'm writing to warn the public. These folks don't honor their own "written contract". They breached/reneged on our event with less than 72 hours before our event date! Look out for clause #12 of their contract form. It gives the "Center Manager" the right to do things "if such a move is deemed necessary...." Even after all the added costs and unwritten "policies" - they waited until the last minute, when we wouldnt have an opportunity to get an alternative location - "they" cancelled our event. You've been warned - shop wisely. Look at clause #12. A signed contract does not mean you're gonna have your event. Dont do that to your guests or your special night. (I wonder if they'll operate the football stadium the same way? Worth thinking about) read more

I write this review after a second year of putting on a major hula event at the Carson Center. I have worked with Cindy each of those years from the sales department. We used the main dining hall, and somewhere around 10 rooms rented all at the same time, while also catering with Choura (see separate review for Choura). It is a huge event with many working pieces...Each and every time I contact Cindy, either by email or phone, she is professional, courteous, calm and always does what she can to work with me and my crazy needs. She knows her job, the facility and how to lead the crew. And the crew is always there to help. I had no bad attitudes or problems with them. Absolutely everything I need to get the job done. The facilities are clean, up to date and vary enough in size and location in the facility it works great for us. I absolutely recommend you look into this facility and at least go there and meet with Cindy, get a tour, and decide. But to be blunt, this facility should be on the top of your list.....The cost is actually much less than you would think. I will be there again next year. read more
