This location has always been our favorite for movies. It's great cause the seats are comfy and they recline. You can pick your seat so even if you're a bit late your seat is there waiting for you. Their concessions are good and get the job done & their Popcorn is good. Very friendly staff and clean movie theatre seats and all. We watched The Devil Wears Prada and we love it. We purchased our tickets online on their website and made it easy with the barcode to scan and just walk right in. That simple. Can't wait to be back! read more

I have great memories of midnight movies at this place. Still, it is very expensive. It's hard to spend $25 per person, when $50 would get me almost a year of any streaming service of my choice. It is definitely better for my wallet to just stay home. The arcade is worse than ever, not a single story based game! The whole place needs a rethink, the interior has all sorts of areas that feel empty. If you do come here, may as well look into their unlimited movies pass. If I came back I would almost for sure sign up for it, because it's at least reasonable to get unlimited movies for $26 or whatever they charge. Hope they do more to build community here. Like a book club, but for movies maybe. Get people to come to plug in to the only thing that makes theaters cool still, the community experience. read more

One day over the holiday break, Regal Cinemas sent out an email to its Crown Club Members advertising an opportunity for 2,500 extra credits if you purchase tickets online *that same day* to see the Primate movie, which would come out on January 9. I usually don't purchases tickets online because they charge a convenience fee, which is only $2, but it's also non-refundable, so if you find out you're not able to see the movie for the time slot you purchased tickets for, you basically wasted $2 for nothing. This time, I made an exception since you'd normally have to spend $25 to earn that many credits. I was planning a day trip to South Bay on a Sunday and decided to check out the only Regal Cinemas in this neck of the woods. It's located in the Promenade on the Peninsula (Promenade | PV), a three-story shopping center in Rolling Hills Estates by Silver Spur Rd between Hawthorne and Crenshaw. The Regal is located on the third level on the eastern end of the Promenade. About 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, I entered the theater where I was greeted by an employee who was scanning customers' QR codes. I had the Regal app pulled up on my phone with a QR code for my movie ticket, but it didn't seem to work? She then asked to see my ticket, which was emailed to me. That ticket did have a QR code, which worked this time, and she directed me to the auditorium where the Primate movie was going to be shown. As I was walking to the theater, it seemed like a deserted theater! Nobody was in line at the concessions stand, and it seemed like no employees were manning that stand as well! The complete opposite of the Long Beach location the previous month where there was a long line to purchase tickets and snacks. I sat at a seat in the very last row, but most of the seats in that row had their armrests worn out! It kind of grossed me a bit that I didn't feel comfortable sitting at the seat I chose. Had I known that when I purchased my ticket, I would have chosen a seat somewhere else. Oh, how I wish the seating chart would show how raggedy the armrests of each seat were, but then again, I'm not sure how they could do that. Since the auditorium was mostly vacant, I chose the seat directly in front of my initially chosen seat, and the armrests there were in much better condition. But why the inconsistency of the armrests?? The sound and the video were great in the theater! It made for a nice viewing experience that if I had a bucket of popcorn in my lap, it would have been easy to drop one popped kernel, especially during the scary scenes! The movie didn't actually start until about 25-30 minutes past the scheduled start time. Commercials commenced about 8 minutes before the start time and lasted for about 10-15 minutes before going into the previews of other movies. The seats in the auditorium did recline, but the buttons aren't as high-tech compared to the Long Beach location. In the dark, the buttons are difficult to see, so there were a few times when the chair would recline or revert to its upright position because I'd accidentally press that button. They weren't the most comfortable, but at least it was good enough for me to enjoy watching the movie. Had I sat in the very back row with all those worn out armrests, I wouldn't have felt as comfortable. They have a game room in the near corner of the theater with some, but not a whole lot of, arcade games and claw machines. In terms of parking, the Promenade on the Peninsula has a multi-story parking garage that connects to the shopping center similar to The Source in Buena Park. Knowing that the theater was on the third level of the shopping center, I had parked on the third level of the parking structure, thinking I could get back to my car without having to take the stairs or an elevator. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that I would have had to park on the rooftop of the parking garage if I wanted to do so. Nevertheless, the parking garage was mostly vacant, even on a Sunday afternoon, so you really shouldn't have any difficulty finding parking here. It's a smaller theater that holds about a baker's dozen auditoriums, but with how empty it was on a Sunday afternoon, I think it could afford to drop a couple auditoriums if it helps cut down on overall cost of operations. I even saw an unattended bucket of popcorn sitting on a bench in the hallway. Sign of the times?! Overall, it's not a bad theater to go to, but it had to have seen better days when the shopping center had more patrons and the seats were in much better condition. I likely won't be back to this theater since I don't have much reason to go to Rolling Hills Estates. The next closest theaters I know would be AMC in Torrance and Starlight Terrace Cinemas in Ranchos Palos Verdes; you might have better luck at those theaters, but if Regal Promenade is closest to you, it's an okay option to catch a movie. read more

It's always worth the bit of an extra drive for us to come to this theatre. On Tuesdays if you a regal member, which it's free, you can get tickets for $7.99 on Tuesdays. I prefer paying the three extra dollars for the reclining chairs and clean environment. We came to watch Superman and everything went perfectly. read more

My go-to movie spot. More expensive than AMC but willing to pay more for a solid experience. Went catch La La Land with my mom for a 10am showing and these 2 women came in late, flash their lights directly in people's face to find their seats, on their phone texting/taking pictures, and talked throughout the movie. Wasn't able to speak to a manager about it and felt mildly annoyed. Good news is that it rarely happens in this part of town. Just unlucky. Try to catch management for a refund/free admission for your next movie if you see someone being disruptive. read more

Took my wife to see Odyssey. It was the absolute worst. This stupid theater insisted on playing the movie way too loud so that it was injuring the ears. I kept paper in my ears and my fingers as well because it was so bad and yet my ears are ringing when I got out of there. I left early because of it. I asked him to turn it down. They said that they couldn't. really? I don't believe that do you? The Management is so incredibly stupid to pull a stunt like that thinking that they should be blasting a movie into your head and your ears with ridiculous sound levels and then they won't even turn it down when you ask them. This theater is really clean, the staff is nice for the most part. We usually catch matinees, which are rarely full, so that's really good to know if you can make it early. The big reason that I knocked down a star is that the seats, while they are recliners, they are very sad and outdated. They could definitely use some sprucing up, especially being PV. One time one of our seats didn't recline so we moved one down, luckily there were seats open. The outdated recliners aren't enough to deter us, love coming here! read more

Sound quality on the film was good...WAY TOO MANY previews (they should publicize when the actual film starts instead). We just saw Wicked and the sound was genuinely quiet and appeared that it was only coming from the front of the theater rather than it being surround sound which was disappointing. Regal is pretty special in my book - I first learned about this place in high school and it was less crowded and easier to find tickets to new movies a group of us were interested in. The theater is located on the top level of an open mall and there's a parking structure not too far away from it. If you go up Hawthorne there's a backside to the mall with a road leading to the top of the parking structure making it really convenient. I like their seats - They recline and each one reclines so much that it feels like you're on a bed. They are comfy, and every time I've been, they've worked. You buy your tickets inside the theater, or purchase online and walk in with your phone ready. You can reserve seating through the app or online, or when walking in. read more

This theater is hit or miss. If you go during the week instead of the weekends, it'll be a better experience. That said, the theater could be better prepared for busier times. You buy your tickets at the concession counter. They charged a fee for using my Costco tickets ($1.50 each). The lines are fairly long and they move very slowly! The prices for food or drinks are crazy! Candy $6.50, pretzel $6, sodas $7-8, bottles water $6.50. They don't take Apple Pay but take cash or CC. The place was a mess - trash pouring out of cans and food on the floors. They're understaffed. The pros are the seats. Very comfortable, they recline and you feel like you have a fairly good amount of space for yourself. Heads up - there are WAY TOO MANY ADS! You spend about 20 minutes watching ads and previews before the movie starts and that's after the time the movie was supposed to start. I would try them again but only during the week. It has been quite some time since we've been to a movie theater and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We picked an off time and day and had an awesome experience. We walked in and were directed to buy our tickets from the kiosk or the concession stand. We used the kiosk and chose our seats. The theater was clean and the recliner seats were comfy, with a nice amount of spacing between the rows. There was about 10 people total in this movie, so everyone was pretty spaced apart. Might be good to check if space is limited during busy days and times. Park on the rooftop of the parking structure for easy access to the entrance of the theater. read more

We went to see In Side Out II here today and had a pleasure meeting and speaking with Alexander, the concession stand team member. Alexander was extremely professional and willing to help save you money on your snacks. As I was providing him my order, he stopped and starred at his screen for a few moments. He looked up and said, "if you get this package deal, it will save you a few dollars and you'll get refills on your drinks and popcorn". We like to go to this Regal location for the reclining chairs. We went to the 3pm showing of Inside Out 2 on 6/30/24. The concessions stand had just one of the 3 flavors of Icee available, they told us they did not have carbonation in their sodas because they didn't know how to change the tank, and they also didn't have lids for the fountain drinks. Inside the theater where our movie was shown felt like they didn't set the temp of the AC low enough - my husband was sweating (luckily I had a hand fan). Lastly, I missed the first few minutes of the movie because I had to walk back out to the customer service desk to notify them that they failed to turn the lights off inside the theater. First time here watching the Super Mario movie in 3D. We sat in theater 4 in the back. The screen size in this room is on the smaller side relative to how far the seating is. From the other reviews, yes there are a handful of chairs here that are totally worn down, and the others are probably 2-3 years away from needing refurbishment. The theater was about a 7.5/10 clean. The recliners are what you'd expect from other chains. The concessions stand does not have alcohol, nor fancy foods, it's the usually fare. The employees in the front seemed disinterested in the job, but were friendly enough. They did however not give us the 3D glasses until I came back for them 10 minutes later. Pro tip: park in the roof, it's the closest to the theater. read more

This place has really gone down hill! Yes they have recliner seats but the leather or fake leather is all faded where people sit and so it's super itchy. The popcorn was all stale and they wouldn't make more, and overall it looks like an outdated building that was built 30 years ago and not touched since.
