I went here again on Thursday, April 4, 2019 for the grand opening. It was a blast!…read more The were celebrities everywhere, from the Mayor of Carson City, to Miss Carson City with her crown and sash, to an awesome signer and violinist. There was an ice sculpture. There were fancy hors d'oeuvres and desserts. There was beer, wine, and water. The head honcho from Prestige Care, which has locations throughout the western US, came here all the way from Washington, I believe it was.. The were so many people I had trouble maneuvering to the front to see the speakers and even get water. The center went all the way to impress people. This event had been advertised for months in the Nevada Appeal. And it was packed. Good thing I came early, as I got the tour, which was quite extensive, out of the way, just in time for the ribbon cutting and speeches. I was exhausted at the end from so much walking. I guess I would compare this to a Yelp Elite event, except I have never been to one since I am (still) not a member of the Yelp Elite Squad. Boo hoo I guess. :-( The unit is a combination of skilled nursing facility (temporary rehabilitation with the goal to go home) with 80 beds (Medicare and Medicaid do cover that), and memory care assisted living with 54 beds (Medicare and Medicaid do not cover that). The memory care unit is a locked unit, with codes required to access the stairs, exits, or elevators. They take Medicare right now, but have not yet been approved for Nevada Medicaid. Approval is anticipated in a few months. The rooms are either semi-private, with an actual wall separating the two beds in a very large room, "jack-and-jill" rooms, with two rooms connected by a shared bathroom, or private. Some residents rent both jack-and-jill rooms, and use one as a sitting room. Most of the unit is not occupied, but all or almost all private rooms in the memory care assisted living part have been reserved. People come from as far away as Reno to live here, since the facility and staff are top notch. The units features wifi (which does not work yet according to the receptionist, so she would not give me the password--kind of snippy to me); cable TV; a hair salon; music therapy with bluetooth wireless headphones for each resident; a large monitor which is controlled by a tablet which can play videos, music, therapy games, etc.; a cornhole game; lounges, checkers; and a multitude of daily activities. There is a gym for supervised rehabilitation. There are also multiple kitchen and laundry units, but I am not sure if the patients use them or the staff does. All restrooms are gender-neutral. There is also a rooftop covered balcony area with a movable tile floor on wheels, so the individual tiles can expand in the summer without breaking. There are private dining areas should the family wish to dine with the resident. I was a little bothered by the fact there was no regular gym, chapel, library, or computer room. And the rooms did not feature an area for laptops like hotel rooms do. I know, many of the residents are older, but many are computer literate and will not be happy when this amenity is not available, especially in the future as Baby Boomers get older. The exits required a password to access in the memory care unit, which is a fire hazard. Another aspect which I was not thrilled about was the staff appeared mostly white. Not much diversity, but hey, this is northern Nevada. Parking was ample. There are actually two entrances: one on Washington Street by LabCorp, and one on Mountain Street. Last time I went, I did not know of the main entrance off Washington, so I went to the side entrance near Mountain, where no one was, lol. They make everyone exit onto Mountain though, which I don't know why, as there appears to be enough room to exit onto Washington Street. They staff, other than the receptionist at the end, appeared professional and knowledgeable. They have two doctors, which seems like too few for 134 beds.

The hot tubs are nice. There are a few hot tubs in the pool area filled with light sulfur hot…read morespring water all about 3.09 ft deep. Maintenance staff come by every so often to check the temperature of the baths. There are thermostats in the baths to show how hot it is, or you can just dip your hand or toes in to check. Swim suit is mandatory. One of the baths has disability seating. It's a chair that can be lowered into the bath with a seat belt. I've never seen that before, but it's a nice feature. The baths are outdoors, so it's very sunny. If you forgot to bring your sunscreen, the gift shop sells it. It's $55 for a day pass per person, I feel is a bit pricy considering we are staying at the deluxe cabin. But if you choose to use their spa services, I think there is a discount to use the baths or it's included in the spa services price of $90 or up. The baths are clean, the lockers are nice. There are showers, restrooms, and a sauna inside in the spa building. They give you one clean towel and locker keys if needed. There is calm spa music playing all the time in the shower/sauna/bath area. There is also a bar there, but you'll have to go out of your way to get a drink, because they don't want you drinking in the pools I guess... Had a great time at the pools. Very family friendly. Remember to bring your own sunscreen and flip flops!

Wonderful, relaxing experience. Can't wait to visit again!read more

I saw this person and 2 minutes into the 1st visit she pretty much attacked me as I entered her…read moreoffice and chose to label me with a quick diagnosis without even knowing my history, then cut me off at every word in my trying to explain my unique stress , and she cut me off and never got my history, so she could direct the diagnosis to make her right . I truthfully felt maybe I was not the patient she was to be seeing as if I had issues she wanted me to have which were blatantly wrong. Her way of treatment was to agree with her completely or else her ultimatum was cold turkey off meds or hospitalization of which made no sense since I was just there for med refills. I have successfully taken the same medication for 25 yrs and just needed refills. But she was the most ŕude, and dangerous Dr I have ever met. PTSD is not what to have when seeing her attack me the 1st 2 minutes in my face as she leans into my wheelchair when being wheeled into the door. I know diagnosing without my history is dangerous and stopping my meds abruptly can be dangerous when stopped abruptly especially being on them for over 20 yrs is very dangerous. She has the worst bedside manner of any doctor and I would not recommend her for anyone that wants help. She gave me an ultimatum, she will hospitalized me or No meds. I have been in therapy for PTSD since 1979 when my son was born as the 31st patient with a very rare terminal liver disease, which I wasn't going to let him die, so I gave up my life to keep him alive, and suffer anxiety, PTSD, and have worked with the most renowned doctors in the country, from Colorado, MD, and DC , and NEVER HAVE I HAD SUCH A STRESSFUL, ATTACK FROM THE DR WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO HELP WITH MY ALREADY DIAGNOSED MICROMANAGED MEDICINE REGIME BY MY DR AGRE WHO WE MET MONTHLY FOR 16 YRS UNTIL HE RETIRED. MY MEDS WERE WORKING WELL, BUT THIS CRAZY DR NEVER ASKED ME ANYTHING ABOUT MY CONDITION WHICH WAS FOR SEVERE PANIC DISORDER SINCE I HAD GOTTEN COVID, DELTA, AND OMICRON, AND SHE INSISTED I HAD SOMETHING THAT WAS RULED OUT MANY TIMES IN THE PAST 40 YRS. SHE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SAY ANYTHING JUST SO SHE COULD DRIVE HOME HER DIAGNOSIS , And then making up things in her notes in the chart and found that BY BELITTLING MY CLOTHES,MY SHARING MY JEWELRY MAKING WAS IN HER HEAD, THAT I WAS GRANDIOSE BECAUSE I TOOTED MY OWN HORN ON MY DESIGNS OF WHICH I AM OF TALENT, AND WHEN MY HUSBAND WHEELED ME INTO HER CRAMPED OFFICE, SHE GETS DIRECTLY IN MY FACE AND SAYS EITHER I DO THINGS HER WAY, OR ELSE.? A DANGEROUS SOLUTION SHE HAD, NOW HAS ME IN THE FETAL POSITION WITH MY MEDS CUT OFF INSTANTLY AFTER 20 PLUS YEARS. SHE SHOWED ME THE DOOR WITHOUT MY MEDS AND MY HEALTH IS NEARLY OVER BECAUSE OF HER. So my advise is, if you don't want care, go to her, she will give you a botched diagnosis, and thinks she knows it all without any background to go on. She never let me speak which,is hard as it is with not being able to speak due to a severe dry mouth., BUT gets her kicks in brow beating me to make her irresponsible care the very worst she could have done in the history of my Healthcare. My issue in seeing her was due to my Dr leaving and she was who they set me up with. She admits no history was in her possession, but finding her notes on my cloths, her wrong diagnosis, and the fact she cuts you off when she sees things not going her abrupt way. Then she lies in her notes saying my husband agreed with her, made my husband furious, and he did no such thing. I was just there for my med refills, nothing else, and she took them away even though they were working, and she leaves me with threats like I was going To be hospitalized , or don't do it her way which has left me without, and the meds needed , and were given to me for migraines, fybromyalgia and PTSD, and panic disorder from stress which has my body worn out. Gee with Dr's like her, who needs good health. I wish I had the head of her office so I can share this nightmare with them.
