I didn't realize this wasn't an option, so now I am posting this "update" to review Speech Therapy Services separately. :) We currently see Miss Laura for speech therapy weekly and she has been wonderful. One of my children is very moody and has some behavior concerns - especially when working with new people. Laura has always been so patient, understanding, firm and predictable, but also fun and appreciative of the comedy that happens when working with children! My child was reluctant at first to transition to her as a new provider, but now he looks forward to his sessions - even stating in the car "No - wrong way!" when we pass by to get to other destinations when it isn't our therapy day. That is a good sign. My child began speech therapy in another state at a young age, so Laura is our 4th or 5th SLP now. Even with an early diagnosis, Laura is the one who had the insight and the drive to put in the work and get approval for him to have a speech device provided and paid for through his insurance and it has been life-changing for him, and for those who work with him and take the time to learn to use the device. This has made a huge difference in his ability to access the community, interact with family, and sharpen his social skills at school and with peers. We are very grateful. We were one of the first clients for Desert Peak, and things run so smoothly at this clinic, we had no idea that they were brand new as a business at the time. With multiple children who have multiple therapies, scheduling can be a nightmare, but at Desert Peak, we have been very blessed to be accommodated. Our family highly recommends Desert Peak Therapies for Speech services - especially as their practice grows. They told us it was walk-in only. No appointments. Everything was handled very professionally and we were swiftly entered into the system. Unfortunately, the waiting is the hardest part. We arrived at 8:30 and weren't called back until 9:15. Not the end of the world. I've waited longer in the doctor's office, when I was a kid. I did notice it was not first come first serve. A few folks that came in after us were brought to the back before us. Prepare yourself for that. They performed their test and closely followed protocol. They thanked us for coming in and off we went. Important to remember this is NOT your family's doctor's office and the ladies aren't familiar with you. They are short and direct because they have a lot of people to process and little time to do it. It's not personal. They aren't being rude. Smile and be patient! 05/22

The two fantastic ladies up front worked wonders fitting me in when it worked for my schedule. Christina and Brenda were always so great and made sure that the schedule of my therapy worked well with my work schedule. I couldn't be anymore grateful!! Once you are taken back to the room where the magic is done, all of the techs took great care of me. They always made sure I was comfortable. They would start me off with heating pads or the warm cornmeal box (which is the bees knees). This really made me feel that I could be more productive with my therapy. I've never had this type of treatment at a therapy clinic before. When it came time to work with the therapists they were ready and focused just on me and what we were about to do which is amazing. Feeling that you are their most important client at the time is so gratifying. Each therapist encouraged me to do my best and ensured me to only do what was comfortable and that we would work on the uncomfortable things when I had more strength. Each visit the therapists would send me home with more exercises and the tools to complete those exercises so that I could continue to strengthen my finger while I was not at the office. I would recommend these wonderful people to any of my family/friends knowing they are going to take the best care of them.
