Amazing! I will do this for every year from now on. The people, the music, the dancing, the food,…read moreit's all so outrageous, and fun! So here's the scoop of snow globe. I got my ticket for the wrong day, 29th, not 31st, and they were so kind to let me in still!!! I almost cried when I realized I ordered the wrong ticket. The staff is amazing and kind. All the people in staff coats were welcoming. The whole community is kinda like that. I hit up all the stages, and the back stage with the square lights was my favorite, for edm music. The tent was also cool. Main stage was too main line music for my taste. The food, go to the pizza place. That's the best place there. They really understand the culture and are the kindest, tastiest food place!! Other things to note, battery pack for cell phones, also you won't have service due to how many people are there. Battery pack is needed for photos! I missed pics of the rainbow igloo! Everything's paid credit card, and you can check in and out with your wristband by tapping on the screen at the exit. I highly recommend this place!

3-day VIP ticket price: $400+…read more Day 1: everything VIP entailed was not offered VIP section not set-up until 7pm day of music festival, and main stage closed at 10pm NOT ON A PLATFORM - HORRIBLE VIEW! NO HEATERS !!!! no on-site meet and greet with artists, no daily food tasting of on-site vendors, only VIP amenity we got was access to was VIP bathrooms and the bar after 7pm..which wasn't anything big since bathrooms and bars around the venue were pretty clear since attendees on day 1 were very limited. Day 2: express VIP enterance did not exist. GA line covered entire enterance making it difficult to go through. There was no security and no snowglobe employee to delegate the chaos. outside heaters installed but indoor heaters were not installed until after 7pm offered food tasting but not from on-site vendor. served plain Mac and cheese and some sort of sweet potato dish with corn flakes. I didn't see any vendors offering these items on the first or second day of the festival. it was pretty gross. no meet and greet with artist still feeling ripped off from day 1 and day 2. Day 3: arrived late to avoid lines to enterance heaters inside finally installed and working, however outdoor heaters failing - need more fuel and no one refilled them for entire day. snowglobe attempt to compensate horrible experience with fanny pack survival kit. it looked cool but I personally didn't need a fanny pack or anything inside of it (since I brought my own lighter, chap stick, tissues, gloves, etc. with me already. all I really wanted were the things I was promised when purchasing a VIP ticket! I am a veteran music festival attendee, and I've never experience such a disorganized and terrible lack of planning. I seriously want my money back! this is not okay.

Seeing the lanterns launch is simply AMAZING. A definite sight to see and take in. I imagined it, but it was beyond words when seeing it. I had all the "Tangled" feelings.... There are a few things to know: Get your tickets as soon as you know about the event- it's cheaper and better for you to plan ***definitely take the time to read reviews and tips- it will surely help! Dusty areas- please don't wear your best (anything) Communal fire pits- share and enjoy Parking is $5 (more on parking below)- bring cash Lots of kids everywhere! Bring lawn chairs, jacket or sweater, blankets, food- soft top coolers they say We had planned to arrive sooner, but with the drive and traffic, we actually got in around 6 pm. The sun was still up. We checked in at one specific entrance. I showed my receipt at the check in location. 2 adults and 1 child. They give adults a wrist band to wear. (interesting because no one checked for wristbands, hmmm) Adults get a lantern each, a kit (small box with 1 lighter, 1 marker, I box of graham crackers, 1 chocolate bar, pack of marshmallows). Kids get a neon light thing. At check in you have the option to buy more lanterns. There is a stage that faces one direction, for singers, music, etc. Definitely a nice touch. There are booths that sell tshirts, kids toy items like light up swords ($10) and helicopter toy ($5) things. They do take credit card/debit card at these booths. I can't speak for all the other stuff they say on the website (Face painting, food trucks, etc) because by the time we got there, it was al about finding a spot. We got there later than most so all firepits were taken. We saw 2 couples sharing one. Since we were a party of 3, we thought we'd ask if we could share with them. They were very nice to welcome us. 2 sets of couples joined, and 1 more person as well. So in total about 12 of us shared 1 pit. Not too crowded and everyone was super nice. Each pit has a tiki with a flame that you can also use to light your lantern. Bring your ticket from parking- bring it to the stage to get firewood...or not, they will come around and give you some anyways. As the sun sets and it gets dark, you get anxious and want to set off your lantern. Use the time wisely and make your smores, draw on your lantern (careful not to rip it!!!), and enjoy the music and crowd. Many people set off their lanterns early- which the host kept saying not to due to firecode. I am sure this happens at every fest, but still, pls don't ruin it for everyone! I think we actually launched around the 8-9 pm hour. Parking is a definite pain in the you know what. Getting in and out. like I said earlier, it's $5. you drive up a 1 lane highway and get sent to location to park. I noticed 4 different locations. Getting out is NOT FUN. There was one exit from where we parked and everyone was getting road rage trying to make their own lanes. This is why I gave this a 4 not a 5. They need to work on the parking situation. ALL Parking locations have 1 exit. I think they should consider having at least 2 per parking locations. I read on here people saying to leave right when you launch, but that's not fun. You want to enjoy the moment and hang out. But the price you pay is the parking madness. Brace yourself if you do come. Be prepared. Side note- around the 4 pm hour I rec'd an email from the lantern fest regarding venue info. thank goodness it wasn't a cancellation- but it was regarding food concessions. It said there was an error by the venue and none were available. That wasn't much of a concern for us, however, when we arrived, we saw a food truck there. However, a bit late (4 pm) to be notified if you got there around 3 at opening! Overall, I would most definitely do this again.

I love this festival…read more It's low key, affordable, accessible, and the good vibes are in abundance. This year was my third year attending this festival and I continue to be impressed by the organization of it, the music, and the fantastic vendors interspersed throughout the grounds. From colorful tye-dye, delicate jewelry, one of a kind vintage items, hand crafted baseball hats, hip big brimmed hats, stunning photography and much more - I love to peruse each of the booths - and enjoy supporting as many as I can. The stage is always impressive at this festival and the sound is always on point too. From my understanding - the stage has a rich history and many great artists (including the Grateful Dead I believe) have performed on it back in the day. This festival truly captures the essence of Twain Harte in an inspiring way. It showcase local merchants, music, and food - and I love the diverse age range of attendees. From hula-hooping, face painting, and much more - there are plenty of activities for kids during the event, and if you're older and would prefer to just lounge in the mellow vibes - you're more than welcome to bring in your own chairs and manifest some cooling shade. I've been to many festivals throughout the years - and this festival continues to be one of my favorites. The staff always seem to be having a great time, the music is quality, and everybody seems to be genuinely having a great time. I'm looking forward to next year :) Trust.

The live performances were fun, and I can definitely see this becoming a staple for Reno Events. I didn't expect to pay $20 for entrance which was a bummer as we were going to bring more family and friends but the entry cost was a little too high for bringing kids. There were a nice set of carnival rides, but I was discouraged on buying tickets as we had already $40 to get into the event and wanted to save some of our budget to buy things from vendors. We went on the last day of the event, in the early afternoon and it was nice to see more locals enjoying themselves and it wasn't too crowded which was a plus in our book! My fiancé and I loved that dogs are welcome to join us as some other outdoor events do not allow us to bring our puppy. Overall, the variety of food, atmosphere, and performances were awesome! I only wish the entry price was reduced as I would've brought more people and would've had more money to spend on the vendors. Final verdict... I would definitely come back, but only if the entry prices come down or are removed. If this is your first time attending the event, the $20 is not so bad to see the art installations and see the live performances. I would recommend this for first timers.

I really love the new location at Idlewild park! There were many Vendors, Food and Drink Choices. One of my favorites is Mr Margarita. I love to mix the two choices together $9. I was starved and I had a $5 hot dog that hit the spot. Then my husband tried a hand dipped foot long corn dog which I had a bite of and it was tasty. What's not to love at the festival, I think any choice is a win! The musical was good, I found it interesting you can now purchase VIP tables each day. What a nice added touch to the event. There are many add ons you can purchase as well. Something for everyone, craft beer tasting, rafting, golf, rock climbing or just sit back and listen to the entertainment while taking in the beauty of your surroundings. If you haven't gone to the festival I definitely suggested going, you can take blankets, low back chairs, but no pets or outside food or drink. General admission is a weekend pass only $15 no exceptions.

When your vision met no resistance And nothing to stop your gaze Till the mountain peaks in the distance Stood wrapped in the purple haze - Bruce Kiskaddon's A Time to Decide Gayle and I had a lot of fun at the 2011 Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival. We go to Candy Dance (in the Fall) as well, but I find this event less crowded, more authentic, and more culturally and historically fascinating. Perhaps the Mother's Day weekend scheduling suppressed the attendance numbers a bit and maybe the 2012 event (April 26-29) will be better subscribed. Various events are scattered throughout the Genoa town site and it was fun to find them all. We bought a Day Pass, while tickets are required for various musical acts (such as The Saddle Cats and All Hat and No Cattle), evening dances and BBQ and Basque dinners. We particularly enjoyed Ken Garner's Poetry at the Town Hall, Kit Carson's self-history talk at the Fire Department Loft, and Billie Rightmire's Genoa history lesson (with Gayle's Mom occasionally chiming in) at the Trimmers Outpost Annex. In between were various artists and crafts persons (some with colourful names such as the Quiet Woman Cattle Company) and good food and drink. The weather was also on the cool side which made it even more comfortable to wander around for as long as we wanted. There's a lot of ranching and cultural heritage in this area and sometimes that gets lost in the nearby suburban sprawl and resort communities. Thank You Genoa for the occasional reminder to where some of us are from.

We also went Saturday and went to see the Grammy award winning group Riders in the Sky. They also had some great events we did not go to such as ranch visits and horse riding events as well as nightly special dinners. There are pros and cons Pros and cons together: The do tend to bring in artists from the general area BUT (also con) some come from as far away as the Bay Area so "Local" is a stretch Some booths are very reasonable in pricing for what is being sold while others are clearly not in touch with both prices and/or quality Some booths are truly crafts! I mean the dried flower demon head??? So cool, unique, and well done! Unique fall/Halloween inspired ceramics? Nice! Definitely what I consider worthy of a craft fair! But again, other booths were selling things not even crafty. Like keychains that looked like reject temu/wish items. I wasn't paying $10 for a crappy keychain! Typically, there's a decent variety but at my most recent visit to the one in Reno, there had to be at least 7 or 8 booths selling crochet stuffed animals and it appears more than half of them were using the same patterns. There are food options, but there is honestly nothing I remember standing out at any of these. The recent pumpkin fair was somewhat chaotic with no signage, no help in finding parking, no easily found disability accessible parking, and no actually planned pay out. Food vendors were kinda all over. There was a rock climbing wall and a mechanical bull for some reason. It just felt chaotic. Overall their fairs are about 3 stars. You'll definitely find some great vendors but you need to search. Parking is typically a free for all. Accessibility is difficult for those with mobility issues. Food vendors are meh and there are typically no places to sit and eat. If you happen to be around for one, go check it out but definitely don't make it your day.
