Just about as average an experience that you can possibly get. With the IMAX in Reno right around the corner, watching a movie at Galaxy Theatres Carson is really only about convenience if you live here. We oddly purchased our tickets at the concession counter while buying our popcorn and drinks. They do offer affordable beer & wine which is nice. $8 for a 6oz glass of Sauvignon Blanc isn't bad at all. The concessions staff was also very friendly and gave me a free re-fill on my soda even though they didn't have to. That was much appreciated. The seats in the theatre aren't terrible, but they aren't the great quality as the theatres in Reno. Strangely, the seats in the front of the theatre are different than the ones in the back. None of them recline, but I don't understand the thought behind two different seat styles. The ones in the front are poorer quality. Like what you would expect from the 1990's. Just strange really. I was also surprised to notice a handful of sunflower seeds in the seat next to me. Just another odd thing. Obviously no one had cleaned the theatre since the last show. Overall, Galaxy Carson is an okay option if you are nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see a movie here. read more

5/6/2023 We had free movie tickets, so we decided to stay around until the show started. It's been a few years since visiting the theater. I never realized how busy this theater gets.. Great to see people and families out and about.. Since we had the movie tickets we had to stand in the concession line for them to redeem. I think they should have a separate line for ones that are redeeming... oh well.. Popcorn was great- could of used more butter flavoring.. Seats were rather uncomfortable -compared to the luxury seats near our regular theater.. All and all a fun time and great movie! read more

FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! MY BEST MOVIE EXPERIENCE!!! Went above and beyond my expectations!!! I have never received service at a movie theater at this level!!!! Dorothy and General Manager James took care of us with great care! We purchased tickets for later in the day, and got stuck on the freeway (the freeway was shut down due to a fire)!! We were so devastated that we would miss our movie. Dorothy and GM James understood greatly and took care of our needs!!! We were able to exchange our tickets and able to see the movie!!! The theater itself is super nice and clean!!! A lot of the theaters also have reclining seats. The reclining seats had trays so you can set your popcorn and drinks on them. Dust in the bathroom, no associates to help at concession stands, and disgusting cleanliness. Especially after we just finished with a pandemic, it seems they haven't learned anything. Here we go again !!!, First visit a few months back was a nightmare. waiting for movie to start and they forgot to start it???? wow ! This time on 8/5/23 went to watch a movie and both kiosks were out of order. Not one employee at the ticket counter. you had to wait in the concessions line to buy your ticket and it had about 50 people in it. that's about a 45 minute wait !, they were understaffed as well. you will need to buy your ticket online for a barcode to get in. this is the only way. it's obvious, the manager doesn't know his A** from a hole in the ground. Understaffed and broken equipment. unless you buy online, go to another town to watch a movie. read more

Since my last review (11+ years ago), Gayle and I would come here when we were in town, and after we moved to Genoa (during and "post"-COVID) hardly at all. I think this also has to do with the wide variety of streamed TV shows and movies at home. Now we're pretty much leaving the "big screen" experience to movies we consider special in that it takes full advantage of the venue. For us, that's been West Side Story (IMAX in Indianapolis) and Top Gun: Maverick at this Galaxy. This remains a good venue, and for a future date night (aka Dinner and a Show), we might be here. read more

I have several pet peeves about the Galaxy Fandango movie theater. First of all, unless you're watching a movie in theaters 1 or 10 where the reclining seats are, the seats in all the other theaters are miserably uncomfortable. The backs are straight up and down with a big headrest cushion that forces your neck to be at an odd angle. Two of the theaters are extremely cold, and management has told us they can't do anything about it. So, when we get to the theater, if the movie we want to see happens to be in one of those theaters, we just don't buy tickets and turn around and go home. But the REALLY irritating thing about this theater is that, even though they are called Galaxy Fandango, they are not entirely part of the Fandango system. So, when you look at movie times listed for this specific theater on line, half the time they are wrong. We've been disappointed many times showing up at the theater, only to find out that the movie we want to see isn't really playing. And people keep buying us gift cards for Fandango, but this theater doesn't accept them. So they are completely useless to us. (They really need to drop "Fandango" from their name and pull themselves from the Fandango website. Really poor business practice.) read more

When we walked into the theater the trash can at the doors was completely full. When turning the corner to find our seats there definitely was an unclean aroma in the theater. Once we got to our seats it was clear our seats and tables hadn't been cleaned. The reclining seats are nice but I just couldn't avoid the unclean feel of the place. On our way out the trash can was now overflowing. My husband mentioned the trash to an employee on the way out, they were friendly, and said thanks for telling them. But from the looks of things that specific theater hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. We were there at a very non busy time on a Wednesday. It was only our family and a few others for that viewing. We live in minden and make the drive to Carson for the reclining seats. I think next time I'll support our local movie theater. Not a horrible experience but not worth the drive or luxury seating prices. read more

Staying at the Marriott nearby and noticed this theater as I was pulling up to the hotel. Decided to check available showtimes for the remainder of the day, and noticed that they are showing a classic: Big Trouble In Little China. I opted to use one of two self-service kiosks in the lobby, which is a big touch enabled flat panel, to buy my ticket and reserve my seat. The process is very simple and for theater's that have reserved seating I honestly feel that the self serve kiosk is easier. Anyway, the ticket usher was friendly. The theater is relatively clean, the seats pretty comfortable (although my seat at the back row of theater 3 does not recline at all), and the temperature is kind of warm (air is still, as if the A/C is not on or the fan is barely turned on), which is a little uncomfortable during a warm day. Oh yeah, they serve beer and wine here. And if you need help with your concessions purchases, the staff will help you carry it to your seat. You don't even have to be chaperoning a kid and trying to walk with 2 crutches, either. Good customer service, bravo! And if you are into watching classic movies, Sundays and Wednesdays are the days to checkout for old movies. As far as pricing, it is fairly reasonable compared to California or New York. Went there to see Top Gun: Maverik on National Cinema Day. Mayor Bagwell was welcoming guests into the theatres since it was early in the day. We were in Theater #2, which is not one of the Luxury + theatres. Seats were OK, but a little on the narrow side. Backs reclined, but that was about it. This company has tried to make cinema viewing a luxury item. The typical family has to use a bunch of money to see movies that, you have no idea, if they are good or bad.. The entrance prices are outrageous, let alone a small fortune for popcorn and a soda.And what do they think the theater movies are supposed to be, concerts, with a service charge....really. They advertise $6 dollar movies for seniors, all over their website. So try and purchase a ticket...you can't. I called the.. They said" you have to come in, go to the snack bar, and ask for a senior discount ticket....Why wouldn't you go to the counter that sells tickets. You try and pin them down on why.....forget it. So I went in to get the 5 gal bag of popcorn that they advertise both in theater and website/ app. Its Friday night at 8 pm and I was told it would take 1 HOUR TO COMPLETE. My 16 year old son and a friend wanted to see an rated R Marvel Movie which was fine by both parents and they would not allow them in to see it although I talked to the manager and he said a parent would have to be present for the film. The funny thing is that they chose another film as were from out of town and it was a movie about a husband who beat his wife everyday with lots of sex scenes PG - 13! While I'm about to get jumped by belligerent people, just getting swarmed by security and workers that do nothing but make me feel more overwhelmed. The genius securities' solution is to usher me down a hallway out into the parking lot and be locked out with no car keys to get surrounded by people. Came to an early show. There were no other people around. I haven't been here in ages, so I needed a little assistance purchasing a ticket. The only person around was the ticket taker. I asked a super easy question, no response. She literally ignored me. Looked at me, decided I wasn't worth her time and then looked away! Are you kidding me? I turned out to be the only person in the theater (yay). The cupholders were filthy. Wasn't putting my drink in there. The previews were painfully loud and (as mentioned by another reviewer) the movie was just very dark. Much cheaper for me to go to Reno, get a reclining seat and friendlier staff. This is the only nice theater in Carson, and before pandemic basically all the employees were very nice and friendly. Never have anything negative. The manager guy I forgot his name I think Roland or something was always very friendly. Recently I went here with my friends around thanksgiving and Christmas. We bought tickets few hours earlier than our showtime and the usher blonde girl named Emily was not that friendly at all. When we were in line, we saw her attitude wasn't that cool towards 2 people ahead of us. Then our turn and She asked us quite rudely plain cold, like what movie that we'd like to see? I mean, no manner or whatsoever like hi how are you guys today? What can I help you etc? We told her the movie and the time and she just said where do you wanna sit, without explained us this seat has taken etc like the others, eventhough we knew already but it wasn't that nice of her just said that in her cold manner. After we paid, again she wasn't even thanked us or enjoy your movie bla bla bla. One other incident, I chose our seats and she told me the seats already taken! I told her, no they're still available. She kept persistent that I can't get the seats so I showed her the Galaxy app and the seats were empty. Then she chose the seats and voila! She didn't apologized for being a b*tch and acted like she is smarter than me. 2 of my friends also said the same thing about her attitude. Cmon Galaxy, tell the girl to have a little bit manner especially for the front line position and she always that cold? Must be not a happy girl. I got it, you guys need lots of employees but heck this one is quite not friendly. Please let her know to stop acting like she's smarter than customers just because she works for Galaxy. I had the absolute worst experience of my entire time as a customer with this location tonight. I took my daughter, her boyfriend, and my Goddaughter to the Carson City location to see the new Ant-Man film. I purchased these tickets on 01/19/2023 and planned an evening to spend with my family around it. We attended the 6:30 pm showing in theater 7. The film did not start until 6:50 pm - which isn't an issue. We were there to see the film and were willing to wait while it was being figured out. Once the film started, the movie was fuzzy - almost like 3D. So I went out and grabbed 4 3D glasses for the film. I was told by the young man at the counter that I was not in a 3D film and wouldn't need them. I let him know that the screen needed to be attended to. I went back to my chair. The movie restarted with the same issue. Then it played for 10 minutes and restarted again. At this point, we are 30 minutes past the start time for the film. I was willing to wait through it - after all, I purchased tickets a while ago. After the screen not being clear with and without 3D glasses (that I was told I didn't need), I decided to leave the theater and try again another time. I went to the front counter and asked for a refund. While there, the same young man who said that we didn't need the glasses said that he couldn't offer a refund. So I asked for his manager. Once the manager arrived, I explained the circumstance to him. He said that it is their policy to not refund while the movie is playing. I understand that. And I've been offered movie passes before in a similar circumstance. However, the GM James Walker, would not listen to me. Instead, he was willing to die on a hill to make a point that he fixed the screen. However, another person from my screening came out to complain about the screen, at which point I asked him to go and look at the theater to determine if I am lying or not. Mr. Walker came back and rudely began to tell me that he "finally" fixed the screen and that I can go watch the movie as he will not refund my tickets. It was at this point that I became frustrated. Mr. Walker would not listen to me. Instead, he kept telling me what he can't do. I let him know that in the past I've received movie passes as a consolation. I assume, once he realized that I have been down this road before, he began to explain the difference between a refund and a movie pass. At this point, I was ready to leave. I asked if he would kindly give me the movie passes. He made it a point to tell me that he would not do anything unless I "fixed my attitude." Mind you, I am a grown man who has raised children. I do not need to be talked to like a child. At this point, I asked (with numerous "pleases") if he would kindly give me the tickets. I have managed teams of people in many industries. I have a degree in leadership. I know what I am talking about when it comes to customer service. The customer is always right - however, they can be plenty wrong as well. I was not wrong in this instance and Mr. Walker felt the need to make a scene out of my situation which did not play well with me. I have been a patron of this theater since it opened. I plan almost all of my film viewing at this location. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years - including during the pandemic. I do not need to be treated this way. Not only was I embarrassed in front of my family, but I felt ridiculed. A coupon for a large popcorn does not resolve this, unfortunately. UPDATED: I received a call from AJ Taylor, the district manager of Galaxy Theaters. We had a great conversation about my experience with Galaxy Theaters. He was compassionate, understanding, and great to talk with. He is refunding my money and will talk with the leadership of this location. My interaction with AJ is 5 stars and my interaction with the GM is 1 star. Therefore, I updated my rating from a 1 star to a 3-star and may increase that over time. read more

Very comfortable, decent sound, but I was very disappointed to see that the movie I was watching had the projector misadjusted: the keystone adjustment was way off which made the whole image look like the screen was tilted back. Adjustment was off at least 6" on each side. read more

As long as you don't picture this theatre as like an IMAX, this theatre is good. The screens are not big, and the dbox seats they offer which say balcony? Are just seats that kind of move and vibrate lol and they are intense. Otherwise the popcorn sizes and soda sizes are MASSIVE. And I like that the beers are in big cups. I grew up always going to this theater and most of the time I would always be last minute to the movie. But I don't like that they say they close at 11:00pm and I try to go watch a movie that starts 10:30pm and I arrived like 5 mins later and I couldn't even enter the building as if they where closing already. But I guess that's probably how they do their work and if that's the case I wouldn't support it. The theater still had people inside watching the movies so why not allow a little lateness. They never seem to have enough staff here, and the kiosks don't work properly even when they aren't out of order. Tried to go to a 3:00 pm show on a May Sunday. There were zero people working the ticket counter. So your choices are to either pay a ridiculous $10 "service fee" to order your tickets online, or wait in the long line for the single working automated kiosk, and watch it frustrate each customer in turn, as you think "I wonder what's taking these idiots so long to get tickets..?" until it's your own turn and you realize that *you're* the idiot now, because there's so much lag on screen you're trying to use to select tickets, it renders it almost, (but not quite) unusable. I was about one second from just giving up and leaving when the thing finally came back with a screen that made sense. (But don't try to manually enter your rewards number when purchasing tickets, because that truly is impossible, and if you try twice, you'll probably annoy the people behind you, who don't yet know that *they* are about to be the idiots.) That trial completed, I girded myself for the 25 minute refreshment line... The movie was ok. read more
