The ceiling on the bottom floor is not high enough or something. I couldn't breathe. I needed out the moment I walked in. Instead I ignored my craziness and circled the store three or four times just looking to see if I could find someone, anyone to ask the standard " can i help you with anything? " to that the answer is unfortunately no. I did finally find workers...about four or five of them were huddled around a counter laughing and gossiping about other customers (not that I was listening) Ok fine I was listening...But it wasn't hard I mean they were being very loud and annoying. It's weird I'd complain about walking passed the men's fragrance section usually because it always seems like they are Gil from the Simpsons just begging for a sale but not this one. Carson's is very considerate of the fact that Fathers do care for their children during infant stage. I was in carson' s on friday the 23rd of march at north riverside mall location inwas buying bed sheets that was on sale for 49.95 a set an inwas going to buy 2 set and use a coupon that if you spend $100 you will get $50 off and i get the coupon quite often, well i was going to use that coupon on friday but they wouldn't do it because the said i couldn't because i was 2 cents short not $ 2 dollars but 2 cents. On a recent trip to this location it was nice to see an overhauled shoe department. I agree with others that I mostly avoid this place, except for the occasional convenience and curiosity that comes from a "let's see what they have" moment. I think the selection has been average and I'll give them credit that they look like they're trying to be 'something.' The display, overall comfort and layout of the shoes has at least greatly improved. There is more room to move around and a new rear room used to house the clearance items in one spot. I purchased a couple of flats (Rocket Dog) that were different from the pack, but that I don't expect to last too long---on the first day I wore them, the cheap rubber soles on the bottoms of both pairs were already flaking off. After glancing around, discount coupon in hand, I was inspired to check out the clothing. Only the Calvin Klein section seemed to have a degree of appeal and plucked a trench coat from the rack to check the look. It didn't take long to realize that this store seems to have forgotten some basic rules. One, you need mirrors to see the clothing and appraise if it meets a minimal standard to move on to the dressing room. A quick glance against your body to check a color or a length perhaps. None to be found---and I searched high and low. The dressing room i did find nearby had all of the doors locked and no central mirror there either. No mirror?! ummmmm...mistake? Or are you still remodeling? The absence of both of those details is only made worse by an absence of personnel. The trench coat made its way back to its home on the rack, and I proceeded to the one thing I knew I could find: an exit. A couple of years ago I made similar observations at a JC Penney in the same mall. In fact, there may even be a yelp review about it still on display. Fortunately, employees/managers were interested in the feedback and a subsequent trip back revealed that they upgraded and made the needed changes to their store and procedures. But the recent observations at Carsons are what I would consider to be major obstacles to shopping. Call me crazy, but if we've taken the time to come to the store as customers, shouldn't the benefits of an in-person purchase consideration outweigh (or at least be different) than the blind online experience? Perhaps Carson's has removed all of the mirrors to avoid looking into one. read more

took my mom here cuz she was lookin for some blouses on sale. very close 2 our crib but i dont really like this mall or this store. they didnt have a variety of the blouses she was lookin for. nor did they have any polo shirts on sale that she wanted to get. i did however get a coverall that i can wear over my bathing suit. i thought it wa son sale for $29 but it was an even better deal when i got to the register -- $19.99! There is mice running around in the evening! I was waiting in line to pay and I saw 2 of them running. I gasped a little and the employee behind the register said oh you saw them? And I said yeah how can you work like this? And she said that's nothing there in the break room too. She eats while there running around! This place is not sanitary at all. This is one of the most poorly run stores in the chain. The product is displayed nicely and the store seemed overall clean with minimal mess around the departments. Signage is an issue as things were not properly signed and many prices were wrong. Many items not tagged correctly. Most if the service counters did not provide service, just an associate with an excuse not to ring you up and pass you on to a other counter. One lady associate told us her register stopped working right after she rang someone out. There were no customers near her area and for the previous 10 minutes she was chatting with another employee before we asked to be rung out. Many of the other Carson's I go to usually will manually override the register when using coupons, this one wouldn't budge. Even after the coupon went thru she said she was certain an item wasn't supposed to be used with the coupon & changed the price back. Needless to say the store lost a sale. I'll be back again but only if I have to for an exchange, return, or to pay a bill. read more

Beware of extraordinarily high prices on small kitchen appliances! I just did some Christmas shopping there last weekend. I also shopped the same day at Bed Bath & Beyond. The difference in prices blew me away. The 4-slice Cuisinart toaster was $129 at Carson's, while it cost $69 at BBB. The Cuiinary Griddler cost $150 at Carsons and only $99 at BBB. How could there be such a huge difference?? In addition, I was able to use two coupons for 20% off at BBB on each of my items. The Carson's coupons were only worth 10%.
