I cannot recommend this place more!!! My 17 year old daughter and I used Carter Fence for her Girl Scout Gold Award project. The original plan was for her to buy parts and build the chain link fence herself. After explaining the project to Vic the owner he offered to build the fence in panels that would allow her to install it herself. He took quite a bit of time showing her how the pipes are welded and the types of attachments he could provide. He then very carefully explained how she should install it. I don't know many places that would take the time to do that with a teenage girl. He really wanted to help her succeed. As for timing, she provided the measurements on Monday and we were able to pick up the panels on Friday morning. The workers were also super nice, loading everything into the truck for us. Vic also gave her a generous discount because he believed in her project. Suffice to say she was able stay within budget thanks to Vic. We are so grateful for Carter Fence. I'll make this simple, WORST communication I've ever encountered in my career as a consumer of anything! I was told I'd be getting a quote, guy comes out does his drawings and says I'll email you with all your options in 2 business days (16th of the month) Well, 6 business days (22nd of the month) pass and I CALLED them to see what happened (communication negative 2 stars) I then am told I'd be quoted in the next day or two, again 11 days pass and NOTHING! (4th of the following month) I call back and he says he'll be out the office until the following Tuesday. Again Tuesday comes and goes I give them a call on the 9th of the month, I'm told by the supervisor he told the employee not to bid this job because I asked for too many options and they don't work that way. Whatever that means, even though I was told and not asked for options at all, I wanted a chain-link plain fence and nobody bothered to call and say: "Sorry, we cannot bid this project" but I have numerous emails from them stating: "Our pricing came in for you and I'll email them today" and guess what? NOTHING!!! If anyone wants a copy of the emails and names please email or message me and I'd gladly drift you away from this unprofessional company!! You won't regret it.... I needed to replace a wooden fence that had collapsed...I decided I wanted to go with chain link with privacy slats and have a gate added. I contacted multiple fence companies and got estimates. 3 were all in the same ballpark (~3k). I went with Carter fence because they were the easiest to contact initially (and contact as necessary - Vic was the person I spoke to) and they also inspired the most confidence. (One company low-balled me on the phone saying $1700-$1800 and then had me take pictures for me and THEN sent a estimate for $3500 - stay away from "Izurieta Fence Company, Inc."). I ended up needing to remove some trees and then did the fence. Carter Fence showed up on time and did the job as promised. The crew worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after they were done. I like the new look of the fence and the privacy slats work. I have included pictures of before and after. read more

We were busy researching Fence companies for a project we have at one of our properties and carefully vetted the San Fernando Valley fence options. Carter Fence Co. was scheduled for an estimate and the company sent Victor who walked the property but seemed inattentive, jaundiced , and lethargic about the big job he was here to bid upon. Victor only had time to review and calculate the rear of the property but promised to come back later to survey the rest of the fence quote for this challenging landscape.. We never heard back from Victor. Weeks went by and we discovered good service from a professional Fence contractor. Later, a phone call was placed to Carter Fence to speak with the owner to determine what happened with the lackadaisical, inept, and abandoned service quote. The answer is typical of the poor work ethic we witnessed by Carter Fence. Victor is one of the two Owners, ( his Sister being the other ), and both had ready made," inexcusable excuses" for their lack of Customer Service. "I decided I didn't want to bid on your job " is the quite arrogant quote of the day from Vic. Many Weeks later is not a propitious time to drop this revelation, and we hope that all Yelpers answer in kind to the Ferrars, aka the Carter's. If we all say to them, "I decided not to call you for a quote" then you will be sending a kind, Karmic, "Learning Curve" message to Carter Fence to help them drastically improve their customer aquistion mission statement, or charter. The business charter needs more ardor at Carter so please save your time and money and do business with an honorable, responsive, considerate, Fence contractor. It appears that Carter Fence Co. does not need your business, or mine, and they have all the work they will ever need now. I had the exact same issue as Kristine C. Someone came out to give me an estimate on a Monday and said it would be Wednesday morning at the latest. that I would receive a quote via email. Wednesday came and went and no quote. I called and they assured me it would be by the end of the day. Wednesday evening came and went- no quote. Then I called Thursday morning and they said I would get the quote no later than that evening. Then I called Friday afternoon - strictly for my own amusement- and was told they would send the quote right over. Unbelievable. They were recommended by a former neighbor. Don't know if this is an issue with the worker who gave me the quote or the owner which is why I don't want to slander the worker. Anyone in the Valley want to build a fence with a dog run or dog shelter? Anyone?? read more

You can depend on Carter Fence to take care of any of your fencing needs! For us, they have installed numerous fences, from chain link, to wrought iron, to white vinyl. They have always been prompt, dependable, professional, and efficient. We have dealt with Vic, Jon, and Miguel; each of those guys was terrific. Most recently, they installed a vinyl picket fence at our beach cottage. Many people walking by have stopped and complimented our fence! Who would have thought a fence could get noticed so much? Also (on several occasions), we have had cars run into a fence surrounding a piece of property we own. One call to Carter and the guys were out there early the next morning, repairing the fence, and securing our property. We will never call any other company for fencing! read more

Carter Fence is good to call when we need a responsible fence company for bigger projects. We have them make or repair fences for tennis courts and tennis clubs we deal with. These tend to be bigger/taller fences and not every fence company has the ability and equipment to do this correctly. read more

My neighbor put in a new wall between us which made my old driveway gate too wide to work anymore. I called Carter Fence after looking here on Yelp to set up an appointment. Vic showed up on time to look things over. Very personable guy, he offered some suggestions that made a lot of sense over my original thoughts about what to do and he let me know he'd email me a couple of quotes for different options. The quotes showed up in my in-box on the day he promised and I selected his suggestions. We set a day to do the work and on the appointed day, right on time, the crew showed up and went straight to work. These guys were excellent and very professional. The result is outstanding. A very strong, well constructed gate, mounted far better to the wall than the wall builders attempt at lag hinges. The gate feels solid when opening it and the privacy slats match the wall color perfectly. I absolutely recommend this company and Vic personally for any chain-link work. With any luck, I'll be back soon asking Vic about a more decorative fencing solution for my front yard! read more

Well I guess Carter Fence doesn't need business and they have all the clients they need. Tried for about 2 years now to get them to put a new gate to my backyard. Have used them before and they did good job, but being a satisfied customer doesn't count for anything. My problem is that I work M-F 7am -7pm. I asked Carter if they could send someone out to give me a Quote, even though I couldn't be there and they said yes. Well the guy came over and I had left a note to what I wanted exactly. Got home to a message saying that no one was home and give them a call. Well for a few days we played telephone tag and they didn't know why I didn't get the quote. I said can you come again and they said they would call back about that. Never got a call. So I tried again today 6/29/15 and asked if they could come Friday cause I was not working that day and they said no they were closed. Friday 7/3/15 is not a Holiday, but the next day is. So I asked is there anything you can suggest for me to get a quote, the lady on the phone said no. Not very accommodating to customers. Guess a 3 day weekend is more important than a 10 minute quote and business. Will not be contacting you anymore Carter Fence Company and will not be recommending you to anyone.
