I really don't like leaving poor reviews...it feels crappy & especially for a small business, but…read moreI've waited two months now for a remedy/ refund from The Move Crew before I posted anything at all in hopes that I wouldn't have to post a bad review. This company's slogan "Movers a Mother can Trust" unfortunately didn't live up to this. We were moving my mother (in her 70's) cross country & needed a trusted company to pack her POD. The good: The crew showed up on time, they were fast, and very polite & friendly. We actually called & hired this company because they were referred by friends who had a similar cross country move scenario. The unfortunate: In addition to her boxes of necessities & "smalls", she was only bringing with her one room of furniture...a vintage, irreplaceable, gorgeous Mid-Century Drexel bedroom set in pristine condition...her bedroom set from childhood. She provided multiple moving blankets for the crew to use. When the POD arrived in CA and we opened it after its cross country journey, we were shocked to see how it was packed. The antique wood furniture was shrink wrapped but not blanket wrapped, stacked wood to wood, and the king headboard was standing up precariously on it's narrow end rather than more stable in it's correct orientation. The wood came in direct contact, tight up against the metal ribs of the POD leaving dents in the edges of the furniture. While the packers were super friendly, they did a very rookie job moving the only room of furniture my mom would take with her across country. Wood furniture should be blanket wrapped FIRST then shrink wrapped to hold the blankets in place. As a result of not using the blankets, the wood was scratched, dented, and damaged and the plastic wrap (from traveling in a hot POD for 2 weeks across country during summer) fused into the wood finish, leaving dull markings in the lacquer finish. I took photos of everything inside the POD and again once it was removed & unloaded and called The Move Crew to inquire about their packing methods and to explain what happened. Trystan was incredibly polite, professional, and apologetic about how unfortunate this was, and certainly was not their norm. He called his supervisor to see what could be done, if anything, and offered only a 50% refund (which won't come close to covering a refinish of the furniture, but at least it's a start). Note: Their insurance does NOT cover claims one they pack up a POD and close the door. They also gave my mom zero paperwork, no contract, no Docusign, no receipt, etc...AND she even tipped the movers in cash oblivious to the poor job they had done. Originally very responsive, I've now texted several times to follow up after they said they'd immediately put a check in the mail to her. It's now been two months and it seems we've been ghosted. If you hire this company, you need to make sure you or someone you trust if you can't be there yourself are on standby to watch the packing process and correcting them if something doesn't seem right. We weren't able to do this from across the country, and it seems the packers, while nice, were just lazy and taking advantage of a grandma who was frazzled about moving. It was very disappointing on the receiving end to see the damage to the furniture that could have easily been prevented had they correctly wrapped the wood to properly protect it & placed it correctly in the POD. It's very unfortunate, and originally while they accepted blame and were totally apologetic (which I appreciated)...we have not yet seen any remedy to date. This is one of those scenarios where as a small business and wanting to maintain a good reputation, you should just suck it up, offer a full refund, and follow through on your response to the issue.

We paid this company to unpack but because of delay they flew back to SC. We understood this but, they did not work with us on cost. We hired another company to unpack us. We paid Move Crew and local company for the same job. It would have been nice to be reimbursed a bit for work not done. Also, and this is the worst thing. Our furniture was heavily damaged. Move Crew said they would pay us $1000. ( peanuts, but better than nothing). The estimate to repair our antique dining room table and chairs was well over $3000. They never paid us and quit responding to emails. To say we were dissatisfied is an understatement. We were promised they knew how to pack for cross country trips. Absolutely not the case. First, when they moved our washing machine, they knocked the sink off of the wall and spilt the blue liquid detergent all over the carpet, so my husband had to rent a carpet machine to clean up the mess and make repairs. Second, I had to ask multiple times for them to wrap the computer screen on my peloton. It was loaded into the truck still unwrapped, but they finally did it as I stood there and watched. But the biggest mess up was them failing to wrap a new expensive leather chair that I told them when we walked through the house to wrap and that it was expensive...to please be careful. Well, they didn't wrap it, and I didn't monitor every move. (And my husband was occupied with renting a carpet cleaner and fixing the sink being knocked off the wall!) I was devastated to find my chair with BLACK SHARPIE on it that transferred over from a box sitting on it!!! Of course no ownership was taken. The response from Cornelius was that they had pads, but they couldn't leave them with us. What?!? We had plastic wrap leftover that wasn't used! Nor did he ask me if I had other blankets!!! Of course other items were damaged and broken like both of my kids' desks and a chunk taken out of my son's nightstand due to poor packing and not wrapping. I posted another chair too. But the leather chair!!!!! BAD BAD service!!!

On the first day, Jonathan and one of his guys unloaded two 28' trailers. They worked hard, and I felt Jonathan had quoted too low a price for the amount of work they did. He felt that as a man of his word, he should not ask for more. My wife and I decided we needed to up his pay, anyway, so we did. The next day, Jonathan and crew were working elsewhere, when I ended up dropping a safe I had been trying to move on my own. Being new to the area, I wasn't sure who to call, so I called Jonathan. He and another of his guys came over after finishing up the project they were working in Asheville, and helped move the safe to the proper location. Once again, we thought Jonathan's requested price was too low, so we paid him more than he had requested. Hire with confidence.

He said that would be no problem; I'd have 3 men and they'd be there at 8am sharp. The morning of closing arrives and they are nowhere to be found and not answering the phone. After many lies of their ETA, they finally showed up at 10:30. We HAD to be out by 11 for the new owners. Nonetheless, the "owner" guaranteed they'd be out. Only 2 guys showed up and they barely made a dent while time was running out and the truck they chose was filling up. After calling the owner trying to relay the severity of the situation and that his workers were just complaining the whole time, I told him this was the worst experience ever. To which he responded that his workers would just take what they had on the truck and forget about the rest that was left in the house. Then he hung up on me and refused to answer my calls back. He also said I didn't tell him we were moving washer, dryer and fridge. See pics below. We ended up not being able to take our fridge, which was only about a year old. Now let's talk about the unloading part. They literally threw everything into the garage. Things were tipped over, broken, nothing was put upstairs. I had to buy another truck and move the rest of my house with help from some friends. What did we hire movers for? We had to get to the next closing so we didn't have any time to challenge it, and I was very tired of dealing with their owner's attitude and disrespect, I was charged the full $270. Do not ever use this company. You will seriously regret it!! They really seemed to just be a groups of guys that rent hauls and call themselves movers. Beware.

I spoke with the owner and he offers nothing I return for the damage or the stolen money. Very disappointed, sad, and feel scammed by this company. A police report has been filed.

He had no problem when I wanted to make some adjustments, we had some furniture we discovered would not work at our upcoming house in Portland. He even responded when I called him at night! He fired up his computer and got us answers. Total professional. Tondra Knight was right on time with the paperwork, again, no surprises and very friendly. She also offered me moving boxes and she set up the transport of our car, from Greenville to Portland, Oregon! Of course I checked www.protectyourmove.gov and found that Smith Dray has no complaints reported at the U.S. Dept Of Transportation website. They arrive on time, eager to work and they work together like clockwork. They drive the truck, load it so professionally, unload so carefully, place it just where we say. I can trust that they are careful with my personal treasures and with the property of others. These guys have moved for us merchandise from storage units to a huge warehouse where we are planning a 3- day blow-out sale. They have moved everthing from household to artwork, antiques to garden. They have worked in the cold, the rain, the heat of the summer and even under bizarre conditions. Just yesterday the trio came, arriving on time at 9:00 AM, met us at the warehouse, loaded the waiting 26 foot truck, drove the truck to another storage unit to retrieve only 3 items that were heavy and bulky and way behind other stuff, went to our home, loaded patio and concrete items, unloaded the truck at another location . . . Then took a lunch break . . . After that, it was back to our house, picked up 3 MAJOR Antique pieces and boxes of fragile items, then to another storage unit where the truck was again loaded to the hilt. I wish I had taken a photo. After the last item was put on and the last tie-down straps were tightened, you could not have gotten sand in the cracks. We went back to unload the truck. They got a work out today. Down the steps, into the home, up and down steps in the home, placing every piece just where we wanted them (they took time sweep off the cobwebs and put fresh sliders on the bottoms.) Not a wall was nicked, not an item broken. We are ready to stage this house for a sale, or for a family to move right into. And they were through by a little after 5 PM. Kyle, how many times have these wonderful guys worked with us? I think I counted 10 or 11 times. They are fun, polite, trustworthy and respectful, just to mention a few of their great qualities. Looking forward to our next time together in just a couple of weeks.

These guys are great!…read more I had a move from an apartment and my storage unit into a house. The guys showed up on time, worked hard, and did a great job. I've moved several times in Greenville and never had a move go so smoothly. They even helped assemble my furniture in the new house. I was worried having to go between the 3 places, but Kyle and his crew did an excellent job. Kyle recommended color coding the tape on the boxes and it worked like a charm. Everything was exactly where it needed to be. They make moving easy. Now.. I just have to unpack. Thanks guys!!
