I went in to buy a small pistol for my wife. I asked the salesman to show me a specific gun and he kept trying to upsell me on a larger more expensive pistol. My wife is 4'8" tall and has very small hands. I knew what gun I wanted as I was conceal carrying the exact gun. After he misquoted the price of the gun I wanted, which was clearly marked, then he asked what is my wife's life worth? I said thanks and walked out. This is only the second time I've been to Carter's. The first time was to find information about how to get the Concealed Handgun License, the second to buy a firearm. Both times the staff was very friendly and super informative. I find it funny that there are always a few older men standing around the store, talking about weapons, hunting and the such. Kind of reminds me of a barbershop! They were nice and work as a support system when the buyer is a little uninformed (like I was). My brother and I went, they helped us choose the gun (.38 ), the ammo, the cleaning kit and a safe. I am very happy with my purchase. They weren't just selling me a gun, they were educating me about gun ownership. Next time I will be going for my 9mm. Meanwhile, I am definitely a fan. read more

After giving us great advice (renting and shooting to get a feel) as well as informs about LTC, I purchased my very own Beretta. The staff is great and friendly and they try to help you personally since it's something you will carry with you responsibly (if it means they have to hold the sale off to inform you they will, they aren't sharks out for your money). Ammo is a pretty raw commodity right now, but Carter's has you covered. Wide variety with a speciality in weaponry, unlike of its sporting goods and more competitors. When I called to check on ammo, the service person who answered was knowledgeable and friendly, as was the elderly gentleman who assisted me with finding what I needed. So why the two star deduction? Because I like efficient service. I was waiting to make a purchase while a cashier tethered between the office and register doing something that appeared to be a task that could have been later performed. If I could give them no stars I would. First of all we're in a pandemic and I understand that we should t be out but if we do that everyone should wear a mask and keep distance, but this store is horrible at both. I came in here cause my husband needed something but all the men working here ARE NOT wearing any type of face mask. They are letting people handle guns which is fine but they're not sanitizing then after they give them back to the worker. To top it off there is a man working here that sounds like he's sick.. looks like he is.. and keep on TOUCHING HIS NOSE, HIS EYES AND HIS WHOLE FACE and not using at least hand sanitizers, nor a tissue to ACTUALLY CLEAN HIS NOSE. Worst customer service in the world the employee literally made a false statement up and told the manager so my boyfriend was not allowed to buy a handgun. We told him he misheard and became upset we are never coming back to this racist store. The employee just pulled some bull crap out of his ass and called his manager to tell him my bf had said something when that did not happen. Stopped here during lunch to just check if my rifle was sighted in. They took my rifle placed it on a shelf and had me wait 45mins before I could talk to someone again. Asked me what I wanted and told them I just wanted re sight in my rifle. Very poor communication between staff (who gladly tells you it's there 3rd day here). Thought I'd be able to shoot a few rounds on my lunch but got stuck waiting around their lobby for an Hour. read more

My father was being overcharged for his fishing license. When he let the lady know she treated him as he didn't know what he was talking about . After going to Walmart (their machine was down) I found out that my father indeed knew what he was talking about and was being overcharged at Carter's Country. We went back to Carter's Country and explained to the same lady that she cannot overcharge my father; as the Walmart associate advised. We paid for his license the CORRECT fee and asked her to apologize to my father and she refused!!! She was rude about it too. My father was so happy to go get his license, had to deal with this rude lady telling him that he was wrong and there was no way he paid what he has paid for his license in the past .Had to go to Walmart and then back. And she had nothing to apologize for. We will never come here again! Not while she is employed there. It was the Hispanic lady. read more

Terrible customer service!! One of those places you just want to walk out of in 5 minutes. The sales staff is not interested in your future purchase at all and will neglect to help or even say a word to you. I stood at the counter waiting for some service for 10 minutes before i had to interrupt a conversation that was being had by the staff so i could look at a gun off the shelf. I do all my gun shopping at "Yates Firearms" down the road 99% of the time but decided to venture off... and never will again. If you want to be appreciated as a customer and treated with care i suggest Yates, not this heck hole! read more

I'm not a huge fan of Carter's Country to begin with but after calling around Pasadena for an AR-15 front sight adjustment tool, they seemed to be the only store with some in stock. They told me they did so I went down there to get one b/c I need one for my AR. I get there and ask them for a 4 prong front sight adjustment tool, they go get one and only had 1 left in stock. They hand it to me and the bag has clear scotch tape on the bottom of the bag and obvious tear marks, and a hole from where it had been opened up before. I take a look at it and it obviously looks used and also looks to have had a 5th prong. It does have 4 prongs although unevenly spaced I figure it might work. I buy it, get it back to the house and it doesn't work. I look at the bag and it says A1 front sight tool, so I take it back and they proceed to tell me that it looks used and broken that looks like it was supposed to have 5 prongs. They did refund my money but clearly they are trying poorly to be shady. read more
