We absolutely LOVE Carter's! Tina was so responsive and helpful getting my daughter placed in the right class. The coaches are amazing (Cassie and Kylie), and Erin communicates very well and lets us know what to expect. The parents and other girls in my daughter's class are so welcoming and there is such a positive, family atmosphere. My daughter has learned more in the past few months than she has in the past two years of gymnastics. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great balance of strength, flexibility, and skills. Coach Jack, Erin, & Shelby are excellent coaches and excellent people. They are passionate, committed, authentic, and so good at what they do. Year after year, in the meets that matter most (State & Regionals), their athletes win most! I ran across yelp reviews today. I read two that were so alarming and I'm going to assume they are related to each other. I would agree there are some things that could be different but I'm sure everyone would agree that nowhere is perfect. We've been here for three years I can honestly say I have NEVER EVER seen Jack or Erin be sexual or inappropriate with any of the girls EVER !!! . It was really my daughter who spends almost 30 hours with them a week that saw the review and was in shock. She has been working with Jack and Erin For the past 2 years and as an optional gymnasts the expectations are much higher and so is the commitment. I'm fairly close to several other moms who would feel the same way. This is not to say we haven't disagreed about anything in the gym but speaking for myself this is not our first gym and I am very much more pleased with this gyms behavior than our last. My daughter has thrived here she's had good days and bad days. Several girls have gotten scholarships at several different colleges. When doing higher levels it's not for the faint it's tough no doubt and it's undeniably not for everyone. I just wanted to leave a review because as I was reading the two bad reviews from before it sounded like it was done more out of anger and revenge. Jack's behavior is very direct and some girls like my own work better that way. Other coaches or like in our previous experience with other gyms the coaches give them the silent treatment or can be very passive and aggressive or even play favorites. I would never tolerate abusive language with my child thankfully I have not experience that. I do agree however that Jack and Erin can be tough But I also feel like this is why they only work with the older optional girls. Coaching is tough especially if you're trying to get them somewhere. I am not denying that their experience maybe not what they expected it to be but I wanted to be sure to share that we have never experienced any sexual behavior or conversations about drugs or medication's ever. If I've ever requested a one on one conversation it was always done maturely and respectfully. It's very obvious that Erin and Jack are invested ! Not to call anyone a liar just sharing our experience. And as far as the younger classes and levels with the other coaches we have had nothing but the best experience with Shelby. Shelby couldn't be any sweeter with just enough strong arm to keep them going forward. She has the best parent communication and all of the girls love her. My daughter was training level 10 at Carter's Gymnastics Academy when she decided she no longer wanted to be a competitive gymnast. Her decision had nothing to do with the coaches at Carter's or her experience at Carter's Gymnastics Academy. In fact, for a short time we sent her to Gold Medal Gymnastics. Her skills quickly deteriorated. She went from being a state champion to barely being able to do basic skills that she found easy at Carter's. The technique she was taught at Gold Medal messed her up. She begged to go back to Carter's. Within a few months she went from being out of shape at Gold Medal to getting 3rd at Westerns. She was in first the entire time until she wobbled on the beam. Thanks to Jack Carter for taking the time to get her back in shape and ready for competition. Jack knows what he is going. He is an amazing coach. I don't know what the person in the other review is talking about when saying Jack slaps girl's butts. Jack has never once touched any girl inappropriately. He is extremely professional. He is the first to have spoken up against the abuse that was happening in USA Gymnastics. He demanded for more parental involvement. He does yell, which I do not necessarily agree with, but no one seems to complain when coaches are yelling at football players. It takes a lot of mental toughness to be an elite gymnast. The gymnasts at Carters are in better shape and have better technique than any other gymnasts they compete against. As for Jack talking about bodies - he is a gymnastics coach. He never makes comments about the girls sexually in any capacity. He wants them to be in shape. If they are out of shape then they get injured easier and are not able to do the skills they are being taught. If any of the coaches at Carters was inappropriate I would have pulled my daughter out of that gym so fast if he was in any way inappropriate. I coached for the Carters for about two years. I never heard or saw them do anything inappropriate to any of the gymnasts. They are extremely strict about safety of the gymnasts, both mentally and physically. As for what the other person said about Jack living off a reputation from years ago - I don't think that person understands that to have even one gymnast go to the Olympics is HUGE! Most coaches will never have an Olympian. Carter's Gymnastics Academy focuses on the individual gymnast. At other gymnastics centers there are a million and two (it seems) kids on the teams. It is all about money. The more kids they have then the more money they make. Carter's cares more about making the gymnasts top level gymnasts. They are extremely picky about moving a child up a level. They want the gymnast to be completely prepared and ready. I cringed watching other gyms compete. It was obvious their gymnasts were not ready to compete at that particular level. They would have 15-20 girls competing at a certain level and they had maybe two of those girls that looked great. At Carters there may be less girls competing, but every single gymnast looks prepared, in shape, and fantastic! Not only are the gymnasts at Carters amazing competitors in sports, but most all of their top level gymnasts are academically amazing also. Most every gymnast at Carters could get a scholarship for their academics, not just gymnastics. My daughter is a true competitor, thanks to Carters Gymnastics Academy. She can take anything because she went to Carters. read more

Very disappointed with our personal experience here. The coaches are unprofessional and the gym is deteriorating. They don't run the A/C in the summertime, just swamp coolers, exhausting the girls and (purposefully?) keeping parents out. The price is significantly higher than more competitive gyms and everything seems to be based off of the owner's name and his outdated reputation. The gym and owner have a questionable reputation in the industry, just ask any college coach other than ASU and U of A. read more

My daughter has been a part of the Carters Gymnastics for six years. As a family we love everything about the gym. The owners care for the girls as if they were their own, which is very important as my daughter spends many hours with them. They are always open to discuss any concerns and ready to help in any way they can. Should an injury happen and you need to be sJack is thto get your child in as soon as possible. I have spent many hours in the lobby and have never seen mistreatment or any other negative behavior. My daughter would never even consider changing gyms which speaks volumes to me. We have been going there for over 2 years. My girls only do the recreational program but they have something for girls and boys from ages 3 & up. They have a competitive team and another program that some of my friends' children have been invited to join as a fast track to preparing for competitive gymnastics. My girls have had positive coaches and lots of fun. I like that they see the team practicing when they are there so they can see what dedication and talent those girls have. I also like that they have several levels that your child moves up so they feel a sense of accomplishment. Every few sessions they evaluate your child and the skills they have as mastered, still working or beginning. I feel like kids can progress and the coaches are aware of when the kids are ready to do so. My girls have moved up 4 levels since we started. When they are ready to move up, they do, they don't have to even wait for the next session. Since we do recreational gymmastics, I feel it has been an excellent balance of conditioning , skills, and fun that keeps my girls looking forward to going to gymnastics for over 2 years now! We had their birthday party there and it was great. You can choose to go 1x, 2x or 3x a week to help fit your goals for your athlete. They also offer a free trial class! read more
