Best pizza in all of Middletown, hands down. My wife and I have always tried to find good pizza no matter where we live. They do not deliver, otherwise I'd give them 5 stars. But, this is worth the 15 minute drive for us to get here. We order pizza from them every Thursday and have yet to be dissapointed. Get their large, as the dough is cooked best. read more

Really great pizza and the atmosphere is nice as well. I recently ordered broccoli bites in my to-go order and when I got home and are one realized they had bacon in them. I was really disappointed, especially since I don't eat pork. My brother ate them but said it was a combination that shouldn't be mixed. So don't get the broccoli bites. Caruso's used to be our go-to place. We recommended it to anyone who asked for a suggestion in the Middletown area. However, lately it is a completely different restaurant. Our most recent (and last ever) order consisted of 4 items. When we showed up to pick up the order, our pizza wasn't ready. They forgot to make it. 2 of the other items were ready though, and proceeded to get cold while we waited for them to make the pizza. When we got home it turns out that one item from the order was missing, the sandwich was burnt, the fries were soggy and gross, and the toppings on the thrown together pizza were bitter and inedible. We are so disappointed with Caruso's. Their food and service have steadily gotten worse over the last year, and finally is so bad that they have lost a long-time customer. read more

Called in a order for a pizza and garlic knots. Went to pick it up and our pizza was made wrong. I went back in and the owner was super apologetic and let us keep the mess up and made us the correct one. Super nice people who work there, will be returning. read more

I've been coming here for the last 11 years. I've had amazing memories with friends and family and I've eaten here hundreds of times since I moved to Middletown nearly 12 years ago but recently they've gone downhill and not just with the quality of the food. the customer service here is atrocious. the last 2 times I've ordered take out from here I not only ended up extremely nauseous but I've also ended up feeling extremely unwelcome and disrespected. the two new cashiers whose names I sadly never got are exceptionally rude. I'm a person who struggles severely with social anxiety and with that I tend to stutter and trip over my words very easily when even just picking up my order. the two new cashiers have rolled their eyes, made snarky comments to each other about my stuttering and have treated me like a second class customer because of this. one of them even told me to "hurry up" when I was checking in to pick up my order. I understand that they were fairly busy the last time I came in but that was no excuse to treat me the way I was treated. not only have they disrespected me but I've also seen them disrespect other customers while I was waiting for my food to be ready. this place used to be my favorite pizza spot in town until those two cashiers were hired. ever since Vinnie left this place has absolutely gone downhill very fast and not just in the customer service department. the food has also gone from the best in town (in my opinion) to the worst. the only thing worth eating here is the garlic knots which are often only half cooked. with my last two experiences here my family and I have decided that Caruso's bistro is no longer worth all the money we've spent here and we will not be coming back due to the absolutely horrendous customer service from the two cashiers. read more

I lived in Delaware for 3 yrs and so far this is the best pizza. The place is small but haven't had a problem for the time my family goes.

Service and calamari was good. But the Flounder entree was not flounder and it was missing spinach mentioned in the menu. Instead it was swimming in some unknown liquid. The Fish was way to thick to be flounder and had a mealy artificial texture that made it inedible I had one bite and wished I could have spit it out. Waiter took my complaint to some man sitting two tables over who insisted that it was flounder and that was the end of it. He didn't ask me why I didn't think it was flounder or apologize or ask if there was anything they could do to fix it or offer me something else instead. I just paid and left though I felt bad because the waiter misunderstood and packaged my whole meal in containers to take home when I never wanted to see that food again. read more

This place has the best pizza in Middletown hands down... We went for the cheap take out pizza the other day and decided to eat in. I've had their pizza a few times before but this was the first time we sat in the restaurant. We got the margarita pie, wings and salads. Everything was fresh and hot. Used to be a sweet spot for awesome prices on wings and cheesesteaks... they upgraded their computer system and now charge extra for everything. I guess they tried upgrading the kitchen staff too, because the quality has tanked. Tonight the special was large one topping for $10.95; I was charged $15.40 because I got 2 toppings on 1/2 the pizza! The "computer system" can only charge full price for each additional topping. We've heard the food was better during the week, less rush, but this was mediocre at best. Last time I waste my money there. read more

Although our server tried to be very accommodating, the cook would not take responsibility for substandard dishes. Despite reservations and assurances that they could handle a large party, they serve our party in waves. The first served completed their meal by the time the last were served. We called ahead of time and were assured they could handle the party of 15. The gnocchi was oily, crab cakes were burnt, and the potatoes were undercooked. My pasta came out in one big crunchy, fused, piece and when returned, we were told there was nothing the owner would do to remedy the dish or compensate the bill. Three of us went to this restaurant for dinner, and all three dinners (chicken parm, eggplant parm, and baked ziti) were all horrible. Everything was terribly salty. Vinegar and oil containers were dirty and sticky - I had to wash my hands after picking them up. Place was small and noisy. Would not recommend at all! read more

We walked in and I should have just turned around and left. Everyone behind the counter was practically glaring at us. We sat and looked at the menu and I was confused because we had looked at the menu online before coming and it was completely different. So we asked the waitress (who was the only one by the way) for the menu and she brings it over and tells us that the prices in it are wrong and they're actually more. So I looked at her and said "okay, how MUCH more?" she shrugged her shoulders and says "about a dollar." okay... My daughter ordered the kids chicken fingers and French fries, my husband ordered the garlic cheese steak, and I ordered the buffalo chicken cheese steak. The waitress brought out mine and my husband's first and my chicken sandwich was DOUSED in hot sauce. My husband's cheese steak was not garlic, and had practically no cheese. Then they brought out fries only for my daughter. After about 7 minutes my husband asks where her chicken fingers were. Oops, she says. Brings out a new plate with more fries with the chicken. The hot sauce rolled right off my chicken sandwich. So much of it. My daughter's chicken fingers had rubbery pieces throughout. They didn't cut the fat off before frying. When the waitress came back, she asks "So are you coming back?" No. No we're not. Then when we paid, she gave us the wrong credit card back. Oh! And the entire time we were there the girl behind the counter was arguing with who I assume to be the boss. Crying, cursing, being rude. Great thing to do in front of customers. Overall, horrible visit. Will never go back. read more

My husband and I went there for the first time today. We lucked out as we were there before 12:00 noon. There was only 2 people in the restaurant. After that, it got busy. I had gotten the meatball grinder and my husband got the Real Veal grinder. We each shared 1/2 of our grinder and I liked the meatball much better. The veal was ok. The pizza when we walked in looked amazing. We had to wait a little bit but, for me, the wait was so worth while. This will be my go to grinder place from now on. :) read more

I read down a bit that someone wrote that a bad review for this establishment must be written by their competitor. I agree. Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants that I have been to. The owner is always very friendly and cordial. The customer pick-up area is always busy. Our requested waiter, Johnny, is awesome. Very attentive and friendly. Always has good recommendations on what to order so that to me shows that he knows the product and also eats their food. Very important for wait staff to do. The Tortellini Sophia Loren is my go to. AWESOME! Had the Cream of Cucumber soup this summer and it was a real eye opener. Fried Mozzarella is very fresh and tasty. Pizza looks awesome, just haven't tried it yet because the dinners are so good. Someday we will actually try the desserts, but we are always too full! LOL This is the place to go for a great and tasty meal for a good and fair price. read more

The WORST dining experience. It started off with swatting fruit flies out of our faces and off the bread. We should have left at that point, but we stayed because the food used to be good. 2 dinners came out, but the 3rd did not. We were told it would be out in a minute, After the other 2 people in my group were finished eating, the waiter told us that the cook made the wrong entree and they had to remake what was really ordered. I was not going to sit and eat a meal while the others waited. The owner/manager was sitting behind us constantly calling the staff over to work on the schedule. He was extremely loud and made the dining experience even worse. When he found out what happened, he said offer them a dessert. The waiter came over and made the offer. I denied the offer. The owner/manager was right there, but could not be bothered to get out of his chair to apologize for the confusion. Even when I said I would never come back, he didn't seem to really care. The waiter apologized many times and his efforts were definitely appreciated by my dining companions and myself. read more
