This is one of the few Carvel branches that does offer Ube flavored soft serve ice cream. Counter staff was super friendly and gave me some free sample ice cream flavors to try. The display has some really yummy and local favorite ice cream selections to choose from (Chocolate Volcano/Mango/ Coconut...etc). The Ube flavor tasted really creamy and not too sweet. Had a VERY late night craving for ice cream last weekend and decided to order through GrubHub, until I came to realize it was to take-out and not delivery. Being 100% my fault, I drove to get the frozen treats, and they were waiting happily for me in the freezer. I got hubby a soft serve vanilla ice cream cup with rainbow sprinkles, and I got a small serving of their signature chocolate volcano hard ice cream. Hubby said his was pretty basic, but did what it needed to do to satisfy his ice cream need. Mine totally took me by surprise and LOVED it! I would definitely get this same flavor, but maybe on a cone, because I love waffle or sugar cones; makes me feel like I'm a kid again. Very clean place with plexiglass installed as soon as you walk in, so you can only step in, grab your stuff, and go. Seems to be run by a one man shop. read more

By far my favorite Carvel ! Aside from all the typical Carvel flavors, you can also find many unique flavors here. My favorite is lychee and honey dew. They have different flavors time to time and honestly no other Carvel can compare. It makes birthdays so much more special. Every time we get a cake here someone would complement and ask where the cake is from. The many times I've stopped by the staffs were very friendly. Once you walk in they would ask if you want to try any flavors. This is a small store which don't have seating more so it's like you grab and go! read more

THEY ARE STEALING YOUR MONEY!! I ordered delivery of their six pack flying saucers. As soon as it arrived, I could see that they were terribly skimpy. I took out my scale and I weighed each one. They were each less than 2 1/2 ounces. The package says they should be 3.3 ounces weight. This is just plain robbery. I gave this one star but if I could give it a zero, I would. read more

I am not sure what I received... I spend 79$ (flavor changed to orange with +3 extra) for a large sheet ice cream. However, the ice cream cake I received is basically a entire vanilla ice cream, as you all can see from the picture. I am not sure what this is. The layer is not evenly in half as the photos are showing. First it is just a very thin layer and there is barely any cookie and cream (Oreos). I am sure I'm not blind or dumb. Why would this small little layer be 3$ extra. I always purchased from carvel, got matcha and red bean 2x. The first time, matcha is very thin layer, and second time, I made sure to ask and they made it slightly better. This time, I wanted to change the other flavor to matcha and I was told it is 10$. I brought cookie and cream cake from carvel before and it was not like this, there are a lot more cookie, I based received entire vanilla cake. I'm not sure if you would see this but ok... this is not something that should be done read more

When you arrive, you'll notice that this Carvel is located on the same block as Baskin Robbins. I thought to myself does that even make sense for Carvel to open up here? Of course it does if the people want legit ice cream and BR fails to deliver. Not only was the entire Carvel staff extremely friendly but they were quick with our orders. I went with my co workers after dinner next door (group of 6) on a really busy night and we all received our orders in about 5 minutes total. The crew behind the counter were like hard working oompa loompas making delicious treats for us to enjoy. I found out that the owner actually makes everything in the back. Their ice cream and even their dope Ice cream cakes are made and decorated inhouse too! They take pride in what they do and it shows in their staffs attitude and quality of their products. I ordered the oreo shake and damn was it amazing. The only thing I regret was that I got a medium and I finished it all. The cup was wayy bigger than I expected it to be, and felt some hatred towards myself for lacking self control and inhaling it. But then pat myself on the back for ordering this because I love oreos and it had oreo chunks in it too, proving they actually use real ingredients. They're open late, until 11pm. Came here during the 18th ave feast as they had beer pong set outside for prizes which was pretty cool even though I lost terribly, but in the end I won because I still gave them my money and got icecream! I love how they now carry biscoff cookie soft serve and also biscoff sundae dasher which is this huge sundae that can only be described by staring at the enormous sign in front of the store advertising it! The guy that served me was really sweet and if it even matters the guy at the register was PURE EYE CANDY! Do attractive people like that exist anymore if so carvel found him! He was very pleasant and everyone was very respectful and kind. I will be back!! Another unusually warm day in February. I strolled into this Brooklyn location of Carvel early in the afternoon. With temps climbing up to 70 degrees, birds chirping in the trees and people walking their dogs and taking their kids out of school early you'd think this was May. They have both soft serve ice cream as well as hard scooped ice cream, also they sell their very own ice cream saucer sandwiches as well as custom made birthday ice cream cakes. Today I went with the Pistachio soft serve in a cone. It had that classic Pistachio nuttiness to it, also the texture was smooth and really creamy. Classic ice cream with a twist *wink. I got a Nutella/Oreo soft serve twist. The flavors blended very well. Sometimes the Nutella taste would peak/overpower the Oreo and really come out. Came in on a hot July Sunday after dinner at Tenzan sushi nearby. It was also National Ice Cream day where they apparently had the buy one, get one soft serve ice cream special (which we didn't see until after we purchase), but it was pretty packed. They have a variety of flavors and the portions are pretty big. The kids and juniors offer generous amounts of ice cream. My mom got the lychee. I got the black sesame and Oreo cappuccino. My brother got the hazelnut chocolate, pistachio and lychee in the small cup which was really big! I was amazed that they actually offered black sesame, red bean, green tea, thai tea and lychee for the Asian style flavors. This was definitely refreshing and will visit again! This is probably the cleanest and neatest Carvel I've ever been to. What sets this Carvel different from others is the fact they not only have vanilla and chocolate soft serve, but they have 2 additional flavors as well depending on the month. This month, there was oreo and pistachio. Also, the cakes are not limited to just the basic squares, circles and whales but there are various decorated cakes. At the time I went, they had a minion which looked spot on and ready to get consumed by a kids birthday party. The hard working owners are there day in and day out so stop by for great ice cream and customer service. read more

Green Tea Thai Tea Red Bean Lychee Black Sesame These are all the flavors you should try, whether it's a soft serve in a cup or cone, scoop, pint, sandwiched between two chocolate cookies, etc. These Asian flavors were a surprise for me to find at a Carvel, but it happened and I'm glad it did. The only problem is that they don't have their "Asian inspired" flavors via soft serve all the time - so you have to ask when they'll be available. They give you samples here if you're not sure which flavors you should get. Two scoops in a cone = around $4.65 read more

Not sure where the friendly customer service was when I called this place to inquire about custom cakes but the experience has left me feeling rather unsettled. I just wanted to see what the process was and quite frankly, opened to whatever options would work out. What ever route is easy for you that can result in a cake that is ready for pickup the following day. Too short of a notice? Then just say that you require x amount of time. Don't sound frustrated with me like I'm demanding you to meet my timeline. I'm merely trying to gather information to make a decision but all I'm really being told is to just go to the store in person to make an order. Unfortunately, circumstances prevent me from stepping out whenever possible so I was going to have to send someone... but I needed to know what to tell them to order! So then I had indicated that I was interested in the unique flavors. I asked, "What flavors do you have?" "We have over 30. Just come in." You could have humored me and told me a few examples like if you still had the Thai Tea or Taro. Or maybe your monthly special flavors? Anywayyyy, so I proceeded to thank this gentleman and say bye but in the midst of my "Thank you" I was already hung up on. I ended up calling another ice cream shop that specializes in Asian flavors. They gladly took my order and the cake is ready for pick up at any time the following day. Sorry for this long rant. Got the typical carvel half and half with chocolate crunchies cake for my friends birthday as it is her favorite. Havn't been to one in Brooklyn until this but it was just like when id go to carvel as a kid, even got the same layout. They were nice and did a good job with the decorating. Only issue was i left and didnt get the candles and didnt notice when i got home but they gave it back to me when i went back no issues. read more

After reading an article online that Biscoff ice cream was coming to Carvel.. we located the nearest one that was still open (they open til 11pm while others close at 10pm!) found this near our neighborhood and was so happy! Never noticed a Carvel here but im guessing its new! (Or im living under a rock). The store was brightly lit, staff greeted us upon entering, store appeared clean and well stocked w/ice cream desserts. The guy who took our order was friendly and had a sarcastic sense of humor (totally not offended tho, i actually prefer that than a quiet staff who dont kno how to joke around). He let us try the flavors and even recommended toppings. I left super happy w/the new soft serve Biscoff flavor (i looooove the cookies and he added some!) totally made my night! Will be back again to fulfill my sweet tooth! read more

I'm not big on making ice cream purchases at franchises especially when there's so many unique ice cream shops in New York City but this Carvel stands out from the others. From super friendly staffs who was still courteous after I swear I probably sampled most their flavors to extremely creamy and delightful ice cream. I'm an Oreo lover and I swear Oreos everywhere in this store. Oreo mint, Oreo cappuccino, Oreo lil rounders, Oreo hidden treasure cone, Oreo soft serve, oh my! My parents received a generous amount of Thai milk tea ice cream and green tea flavored ice cream in their medium cup and wouldn't stop saying how flavorful and smooth it was! I got a pistachio & Oreo soft served and my boyfriend got the red bean soft served in a cone (duh) and we were both very pleased at how rich they tasted. Not sure if I'm glad I found this new ice cream gem so close to home.. summer is right around the corner.. and my mom already wants to come back next week for their weekly deals! read more

AMAZING BIRTHDAY Ice cream cake! Never really been to a carvel ice cream joint before but this place is awesome . We ordered a ice cream cake from this place , what makes it awesome is that you can customize the two flavors( for a small fee) , and they have unbelievably, a crazy amount of flavors!! (Including sesame, green tea . Thai ice tea, etc ) I thought carvel is a chain / joint ice cream brand and thought all of them would carry the same normal boring flavors. Not true ! I would definitely come to this place again if needed , for ice cream cakes ! You do need a 1-2 days heads up if you want a customized flavor cake and if you want a very fancy customized cake(Disney , batman, sponge-bob,etc ) I think you need a 5-7 days prior notice . read more

Carvel has always been our favorite ice cream shop. I love their soft ice cream. We usually get a chocolate ice cream cone with chocolate sprinkle. When we are in the mood for a little more ice cream then its their Sundae specials on Wednesday buy one get one free. The guys at this Carvel location are awesome and very friendly. They greet you with such a smile and great personality. For that they deserve a tip every time we go for ice cream. So happy they open this Carvel in this location on 18th ave. read more

If you're craving for ice cream and you're around this area... do yourself a favor and stop by this Carvel! They make all their ice cream cakes in house - delicious and pretty! The workers here are super friendly as well! This, by far, is the cleanest Carvel I've ever been to - love the atmosphere of this store. This location is the only one that serves matcha green tea soft serve and that's exactly what I got! The green tea flavor was ON POINT - not too overpowering at all. This summer I was so happy to see that a Carvel finally came to 18th Avenue because I've always been a fan of Carvel, hardly a fan of Baskin Robbins. The store looks just like your typical Carvel shop, only newer and neater. On a hot summer afternoon, my boyfriend and I made a little visit to Carvel since it's close to his home to pick up ice cream for ourselves and for his nephew who absolutely adores chocolate ice cream. This Carvel has some interesting and unique flavors you wouldn't find in any other Carvel or Baskin Robbins. The staff here are super friendly, helpful and nice. A young gentleman that actually works here told us his father owns this location and the one on 86th street near 16th avenue (what a small world!). He also told us that they are trying to bring in more Asian inspired flavors which is why they have Thai Ice Tea and Black Sesame, just to name. I tried the Thai Ice Tea ice cream, but didn't really feel the taste of tea flavor. The regular (non-soft serve) ice cream is pretty standard imo. I got the Thai iced tea flavor which seemed to be the most unique one to me. Their other "unique" flavors are pretty typical Asian flavors, such as green tea, red bean, and black sesame, which you can find in Asian grocery stores, Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, etc. It didn't really taste like Thai iced tea to me, as a previous reviewer also mentioned. It was definitely a much lighter tea flavor compared to the Thai iced tea ice cream I've had previously (at ice cream roll places). It also had a powdery texture that wasn't the most appealing to me. If you've ever had the ube ice cream from 2nd City, that's what it reminded me of. It was like they used flavoring powder but then didn't fully dissolve it. I was way more impressed by their soft serve. It's much more difficult to come by unique soft serve flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed the lychee soft serve, which I got with the free topping for checking in (I chose pound cake - yum). I also tried the pistachio soft serve which is a favorite of mine & my boyfriend's. It tastes very similar to almond, so if you like that sort of almond flavoring (think marzipan or almond jelly) then you'll like the pistachio soft serve. I'm usually not a fan of pistachio ice cream because I don't like the texture of the nuts that are in it, so I like that the soft serve is just straight up ice cream w/o the nuts. read more

I was taking a walk in my neighborhood in order to unwind from all the stress that comes from being an adult when I came across this gemstone. I took a double take because I thought I knew all the stores in my neighborhood and I know I would have noticed Carvel as if it were Oscar Isaac across the street from me. So I walked in and gasped at the sight. They had all the classic cakes, including my very first birthday cake! That moment got me nostalgic and brought me back to the 1980s when life was easier and all I had to worry about was devouring the nose off my ice cream cake (it was the face cake with the ice cream cone as a nose). Then I walked over to the servers and learned that this Carvel had opened up 2 weeks earlier. They were so friendly that they let me sample more than one flavor until I bought a cup of blueberry sorbet. But of course I ended up seeing the flavor of my dreams after I made the purchase, which is Nutella. I ended up taking a sample and the servers told me that it would be a good excuse for me to come back and they could even provide it in soft serve, which blew my mind. I ended up walking out of there feeling better than a person taking Xanax..I think the delicious ice cream and nostalgia triggered my endorphin :). Definitely come here if you want to treat those blues away or just to treat your tastebuds. read more

THAI ICE TEA waaaaah ? It doesn't taste exactly like thai ice tea more like milk tea. Still good. My all time favorite has to be the nutella whether it's scoop or soft swerve its so creamy and full of nutella flavor ! Service here is amazing. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. This place was ok. Maybe it's because I just got basic ice cream with no toppings that I wasn't wholly impressed. I chose the black sesame non soft serve and I've had better at other places. It just tasted like vanilla ice cream with a hint of sesame-ish flavor. My friend says the soft serve is better though so maybe I'll try that if I ever get a chance to go again. read more

I ordered an icecream birthday cake just three days prior, simple with just "Happy Birthday Joyce" on it. The employee who took my order (Sue, I believe) was really helpful and patient, provided answers to any question I had. Today, I picked up my cake and also ordered their Wednesday soft-serve sundaes with friends (Buy one, get one free with one free topping if you check-in!). There was a slight problem with their honeydew flavor but they got it fixed quick. Unfortunately, I gobbled up my soft-serve before I remembered to take a picture but I got green tea and honeydew with chocolate crunchies. It was really good! About 2 hours later after I brought the cake home, I realized I didn't get the candles that I ordered with the cake. I didn't have my receipt anymore and thought they might not give it to me. But I called and they gave me the okay to go pick it up! So I went and I'm pretty sure the employee recognized me and gave me my candles! Thank you so much for believing me, Mr. Employee! I would have been pretty sad if I paid for these and wouldn't be able to get them. My friends and I decided to stop by for a treat since Carvel was new to the neighborhood. We were unexpectedly greeted by a friendly server who offered to let us try samples. He was also very generous with the serving size because we got a lot of ice cream for a small. I ended up getting the Pistachio ice cream which I enjoyed very much. Overall, a sweet and pleasant experience. Will I be revisiting? Most definitely! read more

First off let me start by saying growing up a brooklyn native i was always surrounded by good ice cream places whether it was gelato or ice cream from small shops. As i have grown all those stores are gone and we have been plagued by the nasty workers and gross ice cream known as baskin robbins. When i first seen a carvel coming soon sign my eyes lit up and i was excited as could be. Fast forward 3 weeks and i finally notice that carvel has opened ! I entered the store today at around 8 and smelt the fresh aroma of ice cream, which is remarkable that things are still being made fresh at 8 when the store closes at 9, also it was cool to me to see a worker in the back decorating a cake, it just shows the quality and really gives you that old ice cream shoppe feel.. So, i was reminded by the other worker(one seemed to be decorating cakes the other was working the register and serving customers i suppose), that tonight was buy one shake get one free. He also gave me information about all the deals that they have during the week, which include fountain items buy one get one every day!. So i decided on getting the BOGO shake. I asked the worker for an oreo shake and a vanilla shake. It took about 2-3 minutes to make, i tipped and left the store. When i got home i decided to try the oreo shake. It was the best shake that i have had in YEARS, it was blended to perfection and the one sip i planned on taking resulted in me drinking the whole shake in one sitting. I really have to say , this place knows ice cream, this place knows how to make good employees , and most of all this place knows how to make people happy ! Of all the carvel shops in brooklyn this is definitely the most convenient and I love the service. The ice cream is fresh and creamy the way it should be. The employees are always happy and seem to have great energy with each other which really makes the place feel like home just seeing them. Covid seems to have made it less busy which is great for me but disappointing for them. although they have been doing their best to keep themselves safe and us customers safe as well. Its really easy to order they had a window near the entrance surrounded by pexi glass which makes me feel sanitary and protected. I hope things get better for them and maybe eventually get to come back inside to get that full experience like we once had. read more

I thought I couldn't like any dessert more than their chocolate molten lava cake but this one definitely takes the spot. Top two desserts they have! Even when I had lava cakes at fancy establishments, it doesn't hold a candle to prince tea house! Their crepe cakes are also alright but I've found the to be less unique and enjoyable especially the brown sugar boba which sometimes comes out in clumps hard to pour onto the cake. Their food selection is decent for sandwiches like chicken katsu and also fries. Their fruity teas aren't my style but their hot milk teas are amazing. The lavender green tea was more green tea which was disappointing, hoped to taste more lavender. The best one is the rose lovers milk tea, literally perfection each time. Unfortunately, this place may no longer be my usual. My favorite part of this place is that the serves don't really care about you in the sense that the bring you food and leave you alone. However, they now impose mandatory 20% tip on all tables even for table of 1 or 2. This location only. As someone who realizes the servers here simply bring food and nothing else here (which I actually love as I don't like to be bothered) but expect a high mandatory tip, this is not the way to go. Especially since there have been numerous occasions where servers are nowhere to be seen and refuse to service you for something as simple as napkins or a check if they're not your server, this is an absurd addition. Definitely visiting less now that this happened. The most bothersome is that it's mandatory. Doesn't seem right/ethical and makes it feel less genuine. Had the pleasure of visiting other prince tea house locations and the service seems better, even water without asking, surprising cash discount, and most importantly: don't impose this mandatory tip! Not sure what changed here but not what it used to be with this and it needs to change. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but customer service is an important part of the overall experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving staff professionalism and customer interactions.
