Also bought a crab meat sandwich. Total was $5.25. Paid $6.00 I was too in a rush to stuff my bread in my bag and walked away without looking at my change. After stuffing it away, I was short changed. Only noticed I had gotten $0.25 back. I know ... it's only $.50 but it's still my hard earned $0.50. No receipt was given. Upon reading some of the reviews here, I am thinking maybe it was just not my lucky day when I gave them a try. I stopped by after work since I had some errands to run in the area for my boss. I think I purchased 2 or 3 different buns but they all seemed rather dry and stale to me. Maybe I caught them on a bad day or it was just my bad day, who knows. The cakes come in mini or full size; flavors include soy milk mochi, taro, mango, caramel chestnut, Oreo, strawberry and mixed fresh fruit and average around $50. The soy milk mochi cake is delicious and very fresh. They also have small cupcakes with fruit and Oreo toppings ($42 for 12 cupcakes). Cupcakes are made fresh with whipped cream and either a fruit or Oreo topping. They also have small tiramisus and durian cakes. Their Portuguese egg tarts are really good with a flaky crust. I would recommend the soy milk mochi cakes and Portuguese egg tarts! Service: Staff and friendly and welcoming. Place is nice and sleek, a little small but enough room to eat in. The cakes and pastries have smaller cake sizes and bigger cakes but pricing is a little pricey but comparative with other bakeries. The bakery itself is quite aesthetic as well as their packaging and what not. The prices are little higher than the average Chinese bakery but they do have some more unique stuff. I haven't tried but I heard their mochi items are quite good. Last time, I got a variety of bread but nothing was too impressive. This time, my coworkers orders birthday cakes from here and I was quite impressed by the cake! We got the mango cake (the cake was not too sweet, but the mango was so sweet despite not being in season), the cake layers are also light and fluffy. I also tried a piece of the pistachio cake which was also quite good and light but a tad bit sweeter. Has a good pistachio flavor if you're a fan and pitaschio pieces inside the cake. This is a cute trendy bakery on 8th Ave. So far I've only tried their breads, but I really want to try their cakes, especially the soy mochi cake. Their breads are a hit or miss, depending which bread it is. The pineapple bun with a slab of butter is so good, and I don't think I've found that type of bread at another Chinese bakery in nyc. I know some HK cafes sell them but I have yet to try. Anyway, I think the pineapple bun with a slab of butter is really good (not Hong Kong good, but very acceptable). The bread is fluffy but the pineapple part is crispy and the butter is nice and thick and salted. All the while, it doesn't feel like I'm eating a heart attack. However, I've also tried their ham and egg sandwich and it was a no-go. They had some other interesting-sounding items that I would like to try. Another overpriced bakery in Sunset Park on 8ave. However, the one offer that makes this one stand out from the others for me is the mini cakes. They sell 4-inch mini cakes that is perfect if you want to celebrate a special occasion with 1-4 people without having to purchase a full size cake that usually goes to waste... or if you just want to eat cake without having to share. The mini cakes are the perfect size. The bakery offers several flavors like green grape, blueberry, Oreo, fresh strawberry cream, ube, or soy bean mochi. My personal favorite is the soybean mochi which has mochi in the center -- reminds me of the soybean mochis from Japan. The cakes range from $11-15, inexpensive and just a bit more than the price of a slice of cake nowadays. The cakes are on display and if they don't have the flavor you want, you can usually call and special order it for pickup in an hour. The server told me this and I thought it was pretty nice since it means the cakes are made fresh daily, and easy to reserve, especially if you need something last minute. I love love love this place, it's on the pricier side of this in terms of bread but it is so worth it! My favorite is their sesame mochi bread. It's so good, I can probably finish 6 by myself! I tried their taro bread today and still prefer their sesame mochi and the pineapple buns both with or without butter. Their cakes are also such a steal, although it's smaller it helps me portion control and my favorite is their grape cake, I highly recommend this one. This super cute and trendy bakery offers reasonably priced and delicious baked goods! I had seen an ad online about their cakes only being $12 and I had to come and check it out for myself. This is true but the cakes around the $12 mark are most definitely personal sized cakes good for 1-2 people MAYBE 3. But their larger sized cakes were not that expensive at around $43 considering the quality and craftsmanship. I went to pick up a small ube cake but due to the extremely hot weather New York has had this summer I settled for the matcha filler mochi bread? Puff? Not sure exactly what to call it instead because it would travel a lot better. The texture was chewy and the taste was really good. It's not that sweet but still clearly a dessert and the matcha filling similarly was a bit sweeter but still had the strong earthy matcha taste. There are so many new bakeries opening in Brooklyn Chinatown and this was one of them. It looked very Instagrammable with the pink aesthetic. They have more modern Asian buns and pastries. I saw they have the viral sea salt bread from Korea. Since I will not be going to Korea anytime soon, I definitely wanted to try it out. My friend bought a bunch of breads, they have many different kinds of bread loaves like Hokkaido toast, pork floss, read bean, and taro.
