Best thing we ordered for our hungry birthday party of 6 was the complimentary birthday slice of cake. Coffee Walnut with berries. Our other 6 dishes were unremarkable. My Vegan sister asked chef to make her something she could eat and they brought her out food I make for my dog, brown rice, steamed carrots, and garnished with raw, yes raw brussel sprouts. The history and ambiance of this place is great food was definitely a miss.

This was a nice surprise in the middle of old town Mazatlan this gem has a great view of the plaza the buildings, roads and structures were beautiful to see. I had the short ribs and it melted in my mouth so yummy!!! Drinks were great and the dessert drink Dulce Carmen was amazingly delicious!!! Very glad we made reservations it was a perfect date night

After trying all the street food and rustic local restaurants it was time to do some fine dining and boy oh boy Casa 46 did not disappoint. Located in one of Mazatlán's art deco districts this is a true gem. Overlooking Plaza Machado, every aspect was outstanding from the service to the drinks and delicious entrées. Highly recommend it.

Casa 46 , located in el Centros Plaza Machado. The chef uses only the best most fresh ingredients. The presentation is a high end European flair with Mexican fusion. The waitstaff is highly skilled and knowledgeable. The sea bass was absolutely delicious ...seared with a crispy well seasoned skin and cooked to perfection, served atop a risotto, asparagus fusion that was a perfect compliment. They have a dessert for every desire whether fresh citrus or a chocolaty decadence.

What a wonderful place for dinner! My wife and I were pleasantly surprised based on some of the reviews we read. Great food with a romantic view of Plaza Machado, in an air conditioned patio. I had the Tuna and Pineapple Salad with Lamb Osso Bucco and my wife had the Mushroom Capuccino and Chicken Linguine. All perfectly prepared and presented. Excellent service as well! Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful dinner at Casa 46. I started with the mushrooms cappuccino, my husband had the beer salad. Both were delicious. The mushroom cappuccino was rich and decadent. We shared the bone marrow. It was amazing. For my main dish I chose the sea bass. The presentation was beautiful and it was also delicious. My husband said his tenderloin was perfect. Rare just like he ordered. He let me have a bite of his potatoes. Yummy. I could have eaten them all. We are returning, reservation made! The best meal I have had in awhile.

If I could give ZERO stars that would have been my choice for this restaurant. Even thought this restaurant is supposed to be one of the best in town, all I can say is that I am highly disappointed and the restaurant did not meet my expectations in regards on cuisine, service or anything. It has a beautiful view from the balcony, beautiful setting all over the restaurant and decor so it looks very inviting. Angelo's has way better cuisine and 10 times plus better service. Anyway, I the only reason I enjoyed dinner was because below the restaurant 46 there is another restaurant and they had a 70's music band playing live. so It made our time pleasant. Lots of people walking in La Plazuela Machado. Anyway, let me remember what was good about this place and their cuisine??? The grilled octopus was horrible hard ( it felt like I was chewing a hard not well cook squid), the mole was completely cold (meaning the chicken meat cold and wasn't cook enough on the microwave) and mole sauce, so-so (I make it way better), the marlin tacos were way too hard to the bite because "the home made tortilla" was overly cooked at the comal- almost as if they place it on the microwave and the tortilla got hard like a cardboard (beware you can even lose a teeth), ceviche appetizer had a fancy presentation poor taste... anyway overall food presentation was fancy as if you were in a high end restaurant in New York only, taste is horrible awful, overly priced, rude manager, nice hard working waiters though. Don't get fooled by their fancy names for the meals. I have been in tons of fancy restaurants all over the world and I can say that this restaurant its a joke in comparison to real fancy restaurants with great chef's.... it's only "location, the "name of the place maybe, and view to the plazuela machado". Price-- way too expensive for the quality of food and service. so expect to spend big bucks for everything you consume. Management-- the manager is rude acting like he is the owner of the restaurant or have a high profile job looking down to his own race and people not to the foreign tourists. ( i wanted to crap up for his ignorance ). Dessert-- Gosh, not even the famous carrot cake was good ( made by some known last name lady from Mazatlán) it is not the best and it is horribly sweet. The Cappuccino was also very to salty. I truly think is place is a fraud for what is known- yea nice old antique building, decor is nice, view and location is okay but I honestly don't recommend this place. If you are looking for a good investment on fine cuisine, I suggest you go and spend your money at a better restaurant called Angelo's (Italian) located at the first Pueblo Bonito at the Golden-zone in Sabalo.. see my review for that.

One of our good friends and chef's from vale de Guadalupe recommend Casa 46. We felt welcomed and that special treatment to each gets is what makes this restaurant outstanding. Each plate was just amazing we didn't know the menu so we had them suggest and went from there .. octopus the mushroom capuchino and the dessert uff must we ended up coming here the next night Rosa was amazing with her company and wine suggestions.. one of our next stops to Mazatlán for sure
First of all, Casa 46 is located in one of the most beautiful part of Mazatlán: the historic center. The restaurant is on the upper floor, offering stunning views of the plaza. The atmosphere is perfect whether you're dining solo, with a partner, or with family. Our servers, Sergio and Lidia, provided amazing service and were always attentive to our needs. The food was served in four courses as part of the all-inclusive package from Pueblo Bonito. The portions were very filling. There were six of us, so we ordered different dishes to try a bit of everything. A must try is the guacamole with ribeye chicharron and octopus; I have never try a most delicious guacamole. The barbacoa tacos were also delicious. As main entree I ordered the huachinango zarandeado which was well seasoned and accompanied with rice and bean sauce and cilantro sauce. The drinks and desserts were also fantastic. I highly recommend Casa 46 and will definitely return the next time I visit Mazatlán. read more

An elegant restaurant in a perfect location with a wonderful history. This restaurant is located downtown in a cluster of restaurants. Casa 46 stands out as it has an upstairs where you can sit and watch all the happenings in the square below. The food and the service are outstanding. The drinks are amazing. We had one with mango and it was such a perfect balance of mango and alcohol. I wish I remembered the name of the drink. I had the steak and it was perfectly prepared. This is my go-to place every time I come to Mazatlan and it will continue to be so. read more

Excellent ambience. My only negative comment was the food was not hot. Our table of six and everyone commented their food was lukewarm at best. Delicious, so delicious we ate it without sending it, We did notify the waiter but didn't want to wait for it to be reheated. read more

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food! We loved the decor and attention to detail. I enjoyed my salad, tomato soup, and grilled seabass. Heard great things about the steak as well. And yummy mango margaritas! Everything was tasty and carefully plated. Service was spot-on: very attentive servers. Highly recommend! Great location in the historic district. read more

What can we say, the food was mediocre, the service was abysmal. I've never been served by such a disinterested waiter. This guy had one table, ours, and yet spent his time with his back to us watching the plaza. Nothing was volunteered. We had to ask.for everything, including the dressing for our salad Given the competition, I wonder why they're in even business. read more

Another fantastic dinner last night. I read the one star review recently given but it had a lot of emotion and some assumptions about the local culture that I wouldn't agree with. I made reservations for 7pm and when we arrived we were promptly seated. The Plaza was bustling with people more so that I have ever seen the past 10 years. The square had more vendors than ever selling their stuff (mostly all low end stuff, nothing much hand made, but people were buying at various booths). Definitely a local hang out. Our service was great. We had 3 different people waiting on us, taking our drink order, and then our food order. 5 of us started with a round of drinks and I started with the Casa46 Margarita which is like a Cadillac Margarita with a shot of sparkling wine in a Martini glass. It was good, but not something I would regularly order. We all had various starters and I had the Mushroom Cappuccino which looks just like a coffee cap, but it's all mushroom. You then stir it up really well and drink it like a coffee. The texture was not too thick, very creamy, and nice and hot although I told them to please make it hot. Last year it was warm but not hot but the other years it was hot. The main course were fantastic. I had the pork confit which had a nice crispy top, a little tasty fat which you do want for flavor, and great tender pork that shredded easily. This was accompanied by Plantain mash which was fantastic. It taste like a little bit of honey was added to sweeten it up. My daughter had the seafood risotto which came with several massive prawns. I shared the Sea Bass with my wife who also shared by Pork Confit and it was excellent. Great flavor, perfectly cooked with a nice crisp skin (I had flabby fish skin!). This was accompanied by lentils and pea shoots which were very tender. For dessert I had the Pumpkin Creme Brûlée which was one of the best ever. Nice dark rich orange in color made with fresh pumpkin put this one over the top for me. It comes with fresh berries on top and a nice dollar of raspberry sorbet. We also had the lemon pie and the carrot cake which were both fantastic. The carrot cake was extremely moist, almost sticky in texture which is the best (dry carrot cake is the wort). To top it off the latte coffee for dessert was great. There were 2 live bands playing below us as we sat outside on the balcony overlooking the plaza (best place to eat). What was great is each band played a set of 50's, 60's, 70's music and then took a break and the other band played a set, so they were not competing with each other. They were excellent, and although the band members don't speak english they sang perfect English and sounded great and not overly loud. So, take reviews as you will, and I am going to continue coming back here each year until I don't. For now, I'm sticking to my 5 star review. For some reason we have never had a bad experience, bad food, or bad services. 5 stars. read more

Lackluster experience riddled with upcharges and slow service. Retaining customers is vital to the success of your restaurant. The owners of Casa 46 don't care about this. Every transaction in Casa 46 is in their favor. A leisurely, well-paced dinner at a restaurant can be a true pleasure. On the other hand, long waits for drink orders and food can tarnish a dining experience. We waited 1 hour for hot appetizers which were ultimately served cold. One could be more forgiving if, one had ordered an intricate meal requiring additional prep time and or, cooking time. However, we ordered tacos which, had no flavor and to top it, they were cold. I have never ever had cold tacos before but, I'll keep this place in mind should I want lousy tacos. A better served purpose of this building shoud be as a coffee house / museum. After the entire experience those are the only two things that stand out worth mentioning. The a waitters did do a good job being attentive but the attentiveness is not enough to bring me back. This restaurant is an off-site option for guests of the Pueblo Bonito all-inclusive resort. For an additional $15 usd charge and $200 peso deposit (pp), you can experience the Plazuela Machado in downtown Mazatlan. Staff and guests recommended it highly. Unfortunately, the 30 minute Uber rides (each way) should have been used to drop us off somewhere else... anywhere else. Casa 46 may have been a hot destination at one point, but only the memory of a concept that did not live up to the hype remains. read more

In the rare cases when I leave online reviews, it's because I either absolutely love or hate my experience. Casa 46 is the latter. We waited two hours for our food and it arrived cold and uncooked. We debated leaving several times and we wished we did. Our concerns to the wait staff was met with confusion and chaos. The portions are meager and prices inflated. The four star reviews are over hyped. read more

High quality food, a little on the expensive side for the area but a great view and excellent service make it worth a little extra. A definite step up from the restaurants at street level for a marginally higher price. Very conscious covid measures included sanitizer, temp check, and a bag to store your mask while eating. All the staff were in ppe, and really friendly and attentive. Home made pasta was delicious, really good multigrain House bread with tomato butter, yum! Not a huge vegetarian selection, but a couple artistic and delicious salads and the pasta mentioned above were all good. The tomato salad was pretty unique and worth a try. read more

Food is indeed very good. However the service was painfully slow & disjointed.....highly disappointing for what is billed as a upscale establishment. Admittedly we were a party of 13 which can represent problems, but a 2.5 hrs to get through a 3 course meal is ridicules. Perhaps large parties are not their specialty which is fine but then don't book them! Highly frustrating, I can't recommend nor would will I return. read more

The view was great but that's it. I would expect the food to be spectacular for the price. I got sous vide chicken and it was not only under-seasoned but I had a hard time cutting through it with a steak knife! The rest of our family felt the same. My daughter's pasta was lacking any imagination. The cocktails were mediocre. Definitely won't be going back. read more

My family ate here twice last week with 4 courses each time. The food is very good and presented beautifully. The menu is poorly organized as it is not always clear what is appetizer sized vs entree. The steak dishes were both fantastic although pretty standard preparation and sides. The seafood dishes are more creative. We particularly liked the marlin crude ( spicy!), soft shell crab, seafood soup and seafood risotto. The drinks are hit and miss but the mojito and acertijo mocktail was particularly good. Skip the old fashioned and Zinfandelly. The views overlooking to square are fantastic- expect lots of loud music and vendors on the weekend and quiet square mid week. The biggest issue is the service. The servers are all very young and inexperienced in fine dining. While mostly attentive, they also missed on answering questions about the menu, timings, refills, recommendations, fixing a poorly made drink, and even a bobble on bringing the wrong dish for my daughter for one course. Little things like knowing you need a spoon for certain desserts or for coffee, setting new silverware if it was picked up at last course, and bringing a paper menu for those in the group that do not have phones for digital menus. If you stay at Pueblo Bonito with ai the per person cost is very reasonable just watch as s few dishes have extra fees not noted on menu. Worth a visit but would hope for some training to keep up with the venue and food. read more

This is a tough one. This is 4 stars for the food, 3 for service and 1 for ambience. While the setting is lovely, overlooking the Plaza Machado, they keep a spray of a sweet fragrance spewing into the dining area constantly. This really interferes with the food experience. BUT, the Mushroom Cappuccino is an unbelievable taste experience! Mushrooms combined with huitlacoche (corn fungus that is similar to mushroom flavor) and foamed - I wish I had photos of both me and my husband at first sip! Astounding! We also had shrimp broth, which was the essence of shrimp flavor, and delicious, perfectly cooked shrimp. First course a big wow. Next we had Caesar salad with prosciutto - overly creamy, and prosciutto really out of place, though flavorful. Then sea bass with black risotto, which didn't have much flavor, and the fish was way overcooked, hard and dry. Mu pulpo, which I had really looked forward to, was also tough and chewy. Disappointing. We had to have dessert to salvage our mood, and the chocolate cake was dense with no coconut flavor. The brioche de elote was divine, eggy, moist and tasted like corn. I also had, in addition to a good gin cocktail, a Mexican chardonnay which I really enjoyed. Service was a little confused, if enthusiastic. If we ever find out that they discontinued the scent overload, we'll go back for the mushroom cappuccino and shrimp broth. But even if you're not overly sensitive, beware of the smell. read more

This review is based on my second visit to C46, the first being one year ago. There was a lot of hype surrounding C46 when the restaurant opened last year. I can say that at that time the excitement was well deserved. Revisiting C46 a year later was a disappointment. While visually very stunning in all aspects, from food presentation to the balcony view the actual food and serous average at best. On this second visit our party of three ordered the roasted beet salad (good) and the shrimp soup (very fishy). Our entrees consisted of the sea bass and the shrimp sautés. The sea bass was perfectly cooked. The shrimp was almost over cooked. The red Thai curry sauce tasted more like a bbq mole sauce. Both the sea bass and shrimp sat upon small portions of an unremarkable risotto. Sadly, the restaurant's mushroom capuchino soup was not available-a real disappointment. The deserts continue to impress, especially the new lemon cake. It is unfortunate that the deserts were the night's high point. The mostly very young wait staff were eager and courteous but ill trained and inexperienced. When I asked for an ice bucket they had no idea what I was talking about. In summary, Casa46 is a visual treat. Sadly, however, the food is just average at best and the service less so. read more

Our best meal in Mazatlan! Our last night in Mazatlan we went to Plaza Machado. It was Friday night and we decided to wing it with dinner. I had heard from someone local that there is supposed to be a great restaurant with a good chef "up above, overlooking the square." AND as we came in by Pulmonia our driver recommended this as Very Delicious! So we popped in and they could seat us immediately - not on the balcony but inside. We decided to take the table. The windows all opened to the outside so we had a great breeze and a lovely room all to ourselves. I was the only person drinking and had a really great drink called, wait for it, Bourbon. It was. Bourbon. And was FANTASTIC. We had the duck, the chicken confit, the steak. I had the corn chowder, which was wonderful. Silky and sweet and served with a perfect oyster fritter. The bread and herb butter was notable. We all had dessert. I had a German chocolate cake that was simply ok, but the chocolate cake and the lemon "pie" with beet sorbet were both very good. Service was impeccable and each detail was thoughtfully executed. I was VERY impressed. It was a great way to end our two-week trip. read more

My boyfriend was visiting from Montréal, Canada and we had to take him to the hot spot in Mazatlan. The view on the terrace was lovely! You can feel the atmosphere of the plaza machado. Food wise, the entrées and drinks were ordinary. The taco gobernador was missing taste the salad was ok and my mojito cocktail was a little watery. My main plate was really tasty (I ordered the linguini), my mom enjoyed the asado and my boyfriend thought the rib eye was tender but with way too much fat (for Canadian standards). Overall I liked the experience but my expectations on the food were high as everyone was taking about this place. I will for sure go back and try this place again. read more

5-star experience from start to finish. The ambiance of this historic restaurant is exquisite, filled with history everywhere you look. The service was welcoming and attentive. However, the culinary offerings truly surpassed expectations. The garden salad was one of the most intriguing dishes I've had in ages, featuring tender lettuces, avocado ice cream, cheese, and beautifully topped with a delicate snowflake pastry. All the entrees ordered were equally outstanding. One area for improvement is the wine by the glass pours, which were consistently skimpy 4 ounces. I'm delighted we had the opportunity to dine here.
