The location is lovely, right on Plaza Machado...really enjoyed the opera singer in front of the restaurant... The menu has a variety of options, and the food is good. The restaurant provides fans, but you're most always in the shade. A.C. for inside seating, too. And it's also a great place for people to watch because it's in the Machado Plaza. You can't go wrong here!

This was one of the first things I ate in Mexico and it didn't disappoint at all. The burrito was a 10/10 and the enchiladas were amazing as well. If a place near me had food this good I'd be there all the time. I absolutely recommend it

On a cruise and popped in for a margarita and chips. Service is SLOW... but it's México. Chips need more salt. But this is the best margarita I have ever had in my life.

We got here on a Monday evening. It was not too busy and the live music caught our attention. Our party of 4 got some nachos, fries, and the salad as our starter. I didn't taste the nachos but the fries were good and the salad was the best salad I've ever had. I'm not a fan of dressings or vinaigrette and this salad had the perfect amount of vinaigrette, protein, greens, and fruits. I order the Atun Imperial as my entree, it was kinda salty. Someone ordered the fajitas at our table as well, they too, were salty. Overall, really nice and comfortable atmosphere. The live music was great, I would definitely come back to Cielo to try their other menu items.

3 times a charm! We were walking around the area a few times and noticed that El Cielo's beautiful outdoor patio was always steadily busy with local customers. So we decided to give it a try. And we're glad we did. On our first visit we had very prompt and friendly service. Since we had been eating wonderful seafood since we arrived and we were pretty hungry we decided to splurge on some steaks. I ordered the poblano cream soup as an appetizer then chose the Picanha steak and my wife chose the Ribeye. The soup was delicious rich, creamy and hot and came with grilled buttered bread. Nice start. Both steaks arrived as soon as we finished the soup. To our surprise the steaks came out sizzling style like a fajita. What a pleasant surprise. Both steaks were perfectly cooked and the small new potatoes were sizzling along with a shish kabob of vegetables. Soooo good! The sizzling platters kept everything nice and hot throughout the meal. We were so full we figured we'd skip dinner. Then about 9pm we decided to try another restaurant in the same area as El Cielo. As it turned out the little place was jammed and we didn't think they could get us in before closing so we figured we'd go to Cielo's and grab a few Tacos. The adjacent area was packed. But they got us in A really good band was playing in the patio "Los Cryps". CCR, Elvis, Beatles, Lennon, Buddy Holly, they were jamming. Just before we ordered Tacos an order of Ribs went bye. So much for tacos. We got 2 racks and they were huge, so meaty and the bbq sauce was perfect The French fries, coleslaw and toasted buttered bread was a great accompaniments for the ribs. Same solid service a entertaining band, people laughing and dancing and the drinks were flowing we had a GREAT time! Okay this is going to sound crazy but we went back for lunch the next day. Yep, we had spied a Double Cheese burger and a Steak sandwich and they were calling us. See the pics and you'll totally understand.

Nestled in the beautiful Plaza Machado, El Cielo offers a welcome respite from the sightseeing in Centro Mazatlan by offering up cold drinks, shaded seating and delicious food. I love their tacos dorado. Don't let their simple look fool you, the steak inside packs a mean punch of flavor and that ooey, gooey cheese is muy delicioso! I like to order a side of refried beans, too, and they come in a yummy little tortilla bowl. We like to stop at this spot for a quick bite, so we've had a lot of the apps and smaller plates and have never had a bad meal. The service is quick and friendly. I noticed a couple of other reviews mentioned poor service but it is typical for a server in Mexico to not check in on you all the time (like they do in the states). Need something? Just hollar! They are standing by and ready to get you anything you need. If you're sightseeing in the area, definitely pop into El Cielo and, at the very least, have a seat on the shaded patio, people watch and enjoy a nice, cool beverage!

Restaurant located in Plaza Machado(old town mazatlan). Very nice place to eat at with the family. The ambiance is very nice and surrounded by vendors and shops. The food was really good and the best part is it was cheap. My group has 6 people and the total was 69 dollars including the alcohol. Wow its hard to beat the price. The quality food was amazing and I would definitely go back. Service lacked slighty if not would have gotten 5 stare. Other than that was great experience and would definitely give it a try.

This place is great! On the main plaza with a wonderful shady patio. My Imperial Shrimps dish was fantastic! Big shrimp wrapped in bacon, piled on mashed sweet potatoes, then drizzled with a sweet spicy sauce. I'd return in a second!

Front desk will help you find a great seat on the shade!

First, ambiance! Excellent location on the corner of the square! Sit outside and it is all shade! Second, food! The melted cheese is to die for! The tuna was the freshest I've ever had! The price is cheap!!! Oh, the drinks! If you like gin - the cucumber lemon gin and tonic is the best drink I've ever had!

Might be great, but we'll never know. About three minutes in their band started in at drown-out-any-conversation volume, so we had to leave

With great surprise and sadness I write this review. Topolo was the pinnacle of my dining…read moreexperience journey when visiting Mazatlan. Magical. Delicious. Memorable. The gold standard of what I loved about restaurants when we visit. Last night I was shocked and disappointed. It's changed...and not for the better. Still the best is the head waiter. Was grateful for him. Kind, inviting, knowledgeable, professional. He is the one waiter in my world travels who I love the most. Now the bad news. I noticed the seating had changed and become uncomfortable, ugly, gross. I remember being amazed by the antique tables and large comfortable locations in the garden. They are all metal now. My wife needed a seat changed out because the first seat was hurting her. The salsa was still delicious. The beer cold. We all enjoyed our drinks. The salad I ordered came, with dust or dirt in it. I was the only one who ordered a salad. The meal came in a reasonable time. My wife had fish. It was good. My aunt had Carne Asada, she said it was good. We ordered 3 beef Filets anticipating succulent delight. We 3 gentleman couldn't have been more saddened by the meal. Overcooked to zero pink after ordering medium rare. We could have sent it back but,..the filet was so tuff and stringy my father in law choked on his, I couldn't cut mine, and my other uncle just stared at it in disbelief. There was no recovering from this 440 peso disaster. Topolo. Take this off your menu or buy beef that hasn't worked a field the past 10 years. I have zero desire to return as my time in Mazatlan is short and I focus on telling others about and spending money at restaurants I truly want to return to, Your wait staff was good to us. But I will not be paying 900 pesos to be driven to you again. I will remember you as you were, not what I experienced last night.

Everything here from start of meal to finish was outstanding. I had the chicken with a corn fungus…read moresauce.
