I walked in and the gentleman behind the counter asked what he could get for me, and I replied that I didn't really know (as I was planning on asking him for recommendations) He looked at me and said "then what the hell are you doing here?" (with kind of a grin on his face). I'm not saying that comment would have been accepted by everybody however my interpretation was that he read me pretty well and he was correct in the fact that I thought it was funny. But anyway, I told him what I was thinking about doing and he recommended some bay scallops and shrimp... I got home and made my alfredo sauce, some pasta, added the seafood and oh my gosh. The quality of this seafood was off the chart. I thought I was doing pretty well with for example the shrimp I was purchasing at my usual supermarket however after tasting this, I will be a regular customer. The place is rather small, and they don't have an excessive amount of anything as far as I could tell, however they have a little bit of everything. I'm quite sure they have more in the back at least what little space there is in the back, and I did read reviews in other places (or maybe even on here I can't remember) that apparently you can get on their email list and therefore you will know when the truck comes in if you really want fresh seafood. So anyway, definitely a place I would recommend to anybody that's in the Elmira New York area. You will not be disappointed.

The only knock on this place compared to big city purveyors is that the fresh selection is "safe," meaning they only sell fish that sell good volume, and don't wade into whole fish, west coast oysters, or more exotic oily fishes. As good as those two items were, the scallops I had with their cracker-encrusted light breading were the epitome of simple, sauteed, buttery-by-nature seafood; they were the best version of scallops like that I've ever had. And the dessert...just perfect for so many reasons; crispy and gooey caramelized bananas, a good amount of vanilla ice cream and the best cinnamony syrup sauce that I couldn't stop lapping up. We were on a nostalgic journey to find the brewing company who bought the Stegmaier Name for us to purchase for family dinner on Sept 2, 2025 to share with our siblings ages 80-69 yrs old to toast dad who drank it in the 1960-70s. Dukey's is a friendly venue. Other patrons joined the challenge of finding a case of Stegmaier too! We were successful. So thanks to owner of Dukey's who was determined and persistent with helping us on our quest. Additionally, several patrons took a trip down memory lane recalling beers from the past their father's favored.
