Mexican cuisine is one of my favorite, if not my favorite cuisine. A close friend of mine spoke very highly of Casa Chapala's so I had to try it. Upon sitting down I was greeted with fresh tortilla chips along with homemade salsas. The spicy salsa verde is the best salsa I have ever had in my life. The steak tacos were extremely flavorful and served on two tortillas (the mark of a good taco). I will definitely begin frequenting this restaurant and would highly recommend to anyone who likes Mexican food. read more

The Fam and I like going here for the tacos, but there are other items to enjoy - obviously. I think the price points are good, just my take. Every time I've visited, the place was pretty chill, not to many folks. I like it that way. I suppose I'd rate this place higher over time and after a multitude of visits. I have been coming here for weeks now. The waitresses make me feel at home and the pricing is very, very good. I am visiting from Texas for a few months for work and Casa Chapala reminds me of food that I'm used to down south. It's awesome, even more on taco Tuesday. Any day is worth a visit here. The only critique I have is the carnitas need seasoning. I've brought people with me and they agree they need salt, for real. Delicious Mexican food, scandalous (near pornographic) Spanish television programming, free chips and their incredibly creamy green salsa, only a hop...skip... and jump from the gym, How can you ask for more? Well, maybe that second detail wasn't expected, but certainly made for great conversation and some hilarious inappropriateness. 6 of us finished our workout and decided that the only proper re-fueling after such a treacherous workout, were burritos, tacos, fajitas and chips and salsa. We knew that meant Arturos. We sat at a long table, 3 on each side, and those of us facing the kitchen, got more than expected from the television set mounted in the dining area. Whatever Spanish program that was on, was damn close to a porno- naked bodies, violence, drugs, more nakedness, sex, and all of this in Spanish. It's always busy, but many of the orders are to-go, so there's never been a time were we were not able to be immediately seated, and immediately salsa'd. The key is not over-eating the freshly made, still warm, crispy chips, especially once you try the green salsa. I mention this as the portions at Arturos are substantial. We're regulars when it comes to their burritos- we get carne asada, with all the extras, including double meat, cause.... crossfit. I've never been dissatisfied with anything we've ordered- and we've tried quite a bit. If you do order for pick up, order in advance, you'll save quite a wait (though it's entirely worth waiting for) This is one of the few restaurants that serves Caldo De Res any day of the week. It's one of my most favorite soups, ever. Massive bowl full to the brim of vegetables and giant chunks of meat (you'll notice a common theme..... I love MEAT, the more the better , MEAT, MEAT MEATY MEAT) and topped with fresh onions, cilantro, jalapenos and fresh cut Lime. While I don't often drink beverages other than water, or iced tea- they have bottled soda's here, some beer, full alcohol bar, and great margaritas. They also have GIANT to-go cups that are perfect for Horchata to go- if anything, there's not a large enough container for Horchata- it's just too delicious for me to ever get enough! The staff are always friendly, they often recognize us when we visit, too. While the programming on the tv's isn't my preferred entertainment, Arturo's serves up great food, at great prices, in giant portions. I highly suggest making it a regular spot- just as we do. I came here on a Tuesday for Taco Tuesday and I am giving this place 5 stars for the fact that the tacos were 99 cents! I have been going to El Famous Burrito, right around the corner, for many years and I have seen the place raise their taco tuesday price multiple times! I think now it's at 1.70 but who knows for sure since they change it like everyday. The tacos at Casa Chapala's were on corn tortilla with onions and cilantro. no BS, just good, solid tacos for 99 cents. I ordered the asada, al pastor and pollo. Came here for dinner tonight and it was pretty good! A unique point to this restaurant is they have a drive through! So if you live close by and want to order on the go ... this is perfect. Prices were perfect and the chips & salsa they give you are delicious. You get three types of salsa varying in level of hotness. They have all the traditional menu items... an interesting one to point out is beef brains tacos! They do have a full bar and their margarita is large and pretty tasty. Very authentic Mexican. They give you two taco choices. American style with lettuce and of course cheese and Mexican style with just beef, chicken or shrimp and cilantro. I had them make me street tacos with corn tortillas and I felt like I was in Mexico. Telemundo was playing on the big screens for your entertainment. I too was skeptical because it looks like an old Denny's or fast food restaurant converted. And they have a drive up window for pick ups. Thumbs up! read more

I stopped going to Case Chapala about 3 years ago because I kept getting the wrong order or messed up orders almost every time going through the drive through. Today I thought I would treat myself to the .99 cent tacos. well, guess what. They gave me the totally wrong order that I cannot eat. Glad I only spent $10.00.... and it is sad that they haven't changed. How on earth can they stay in business when they are always screwing up. Their chicken soup is the bomb! Great for colds and when you just need a warm hug. I dropped this soup off for a friend who just got diagnosed with Covid and she said this was her saving grace. You should shred the chicken when you construct the soup as it comes with tons of sides. read more

The food here is very authentic. Can't beat the price either! This is my go to spot for mexican food in the neighborhood. If you like pork I highly recommend the carnitas. It has a nice texture with crisp bits of skin here and there. The carne asada is also very good. The tostadas are huge and they pile it on with all the fixings. You get 3 different salsas with the chips. Pico de gallo, spicy red sauce and a medium green sauce. If you order the guacamole it is nice and fresh. Never disappointed when I go here. Best tacos I've had in northern suburbs. I'm a vegetarian so had the veggie tacos. My second visit I had the tostadas which were also delicious. We've been enjoying this restaurant under its various names for years. The food is generally very good. We've been using the drive thru during COVID. Big mistake. The sound is terrible at the station. There is no light to read the menu on the board. And, the staff cannot be bothered to get the drive they orders right. When I tried to verify the order, I got attitude. Guess what. They got my order wrong. I was charged for 2 items that weren't in the bag. Argh. We'll wait for the next name change. read more

Very cost effective, and they give you a good selection of salsas for the chips; red (spicy), green (not as spicy), and pico we gallo (not spicy). Most of their food is solid, but what they do better than most Mexican restaurants around the area is their carnitas. It's juicy, tender, meaty, with crispy skin to changeup the consistency. For the price, taste, and service, a very solid 4 stars. If I was able to, I'd give it 4 1/2. read more

Had chile relleno dinner. Will not recommend. Batter was very thick. Thicker than the pepper itself. Soggy. Sauce lacked flavor. They skimmed on the cheese. It was the poor quality cheese anyways. Its not a standout dish for this establishment. Tacos was champ. Had 2 kinds. The carne asada and the pollo. Both meats was fresh and generous portions. Thats what gave them 2 star. I have been here twice now for a family dinner and both times we have left stuffed! They are always very accomodating when our party of 10 plus comes in. Our food and drinks come out fast and hot. The place has a drive thru, full bar, and all your Mexican favorites. I wanted to give them 5 stars but the steak was not the same on our second visit. It was a bit chewy which I did not like. That is probably the only negative thing I have to say about this place. One of my favorite things to have here is the sope. Nice and crispy loaded with toppings. The chorizo is good here too. Not too greasy. They place has a great selection of Mexican beer, sodas and waters. There is also a juke box to play your favorite songs. I will warn you, the music plays at a high volume. They serve the customary basket of chips but offer three different salsas including picadillo and a creamy avocado salsa. The tacos and other antojitos are great.
