Had a large catering order for my staff from Arturo's. Food was good-Not great, a bit on the pricy side. Friendly staff when I called to place the order, although they called me back the next day to "confirm I still wanted the order" and asked me that same questions we went over the day before. My one big issue was we ordered a full order of shrimp fajitas.. they LEFT THE TAILS ON!! How are we going to eat the fajitas without picking them apart??? Not very pleased with this for how expensive it was. Might go back & give them a try for a sit down meal. read more

I tried this place out from a recommendation. I have to tell you it was mediocre at best we had the chicken fajitas and steak fajitas for meals and it basically had no taste. very little flavor, from the beans to the rice. it was loaded with peppers way more than there should be. probably 15 slices in my order. All four of us needed to grab the salt and still the food had no flavor. The homemade guacamole was the best part of the entire meal even the chips were mediocre-at-best almost like they came out of a bag and didnt tastet authentic. They're very nice people but they definitely need to work on their spices and cooking skills. no offense. but I have to tell you that I probably would never go back. I hope they read this and realize it's constructive criticism and say to themselves do you think this food is great? read more

The BEST Micheladas in town! Period. Enough said. For the record, all Mexican Resturant's are NOT the same. You can tell the difference between the quality of their steak tacos and Micheladas. If both are tasty, you got yourself a keeper. Arturo's passed both taste tests with flying colors. Avoid going from 11-1 during the weekdays unless you have time to wait. My favorite Mexican food restaurant!! I am so tired of the bland flavorless chain Mexican restaurants (La Hacienda - bleh!). I Love the complementary fresh salsa and home made chips. My current favorite meal is the chorizo tostada - super flavorful with a wonderfully crisp tostada shell. The chicken tostada is great too - the chicken is pulled from their signature roasted chickens, super tender and jucy - topped with fresh ingredients - excellent. Superb quality. Don't be put off by this former Arby's location. After living in TX and So Cal, we are particular about our Mexican. Chips served with 2 kinds of salsa and pico de gallo. Tried 3 types of tacos (carne asada, carnitas and al pastor). All were excellent -al pastor, the best. Generous portions at reasonable prices - $2.25 each. Fresh guacamole side for $5. Came to Arturo's Mexican grill because it's been on my bookmarks to try for quite some time and we decided to check it out on a Friday evening one night. We got here around 6:30pm and it wasn't too packed so I picked out a nice booth by the window, the place is definitely spacious and for a Friday night I was surprised there weren't more people there, but maybe it was still early or maybe people were doing more carryout orders. Once we were seated our server brought us two types of salsa and warm tortilla chips. The green tomatilla salsa was super spicy which I really like as it has such a kick and tons of flavor. The red regular salsa was okay and definitely more mild but both went nicely with the warm chips while we waited for our order. We decided to go for a bunch of tacos since the pics a few people posted looked awesome, we tried the pastor tacos, the carne asada which is the steak tacos, chicken tacos and the lomo tacos which is a different kind of marinated steak. The chicken tacos I would definitely pass on and the two best tacos here are the pastor tacos and the carne asada. The pastor which is marinated pork had such a yummy sauce but it wasn't over drenched in sauce which I wouldn't have liked. That one was probably my favorite. The carne asada was also super tasty and not too chewy which was nice for a steak taco and the best part is most of the tacos are like $2 a piece so it's definitely not expensive to get full here. The tacos you can also get with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes if you want those extra toppings but I just like them with the meat and maybe a little bit of onion. The people working here are very friendly and our orders were brought out fast and efficiently. I would definitely come here again knowing the staff is super nice, the atmosphere reminds me of a local place in Mexico and the food is tasty. It's not the best Mexican food ever, but for a suburban place it's definitely worth a try. Oh and my friends swears by their whole fried fish which you can definitely also try. read more

For a drive thru place, this spot is pretty good, but not very consistent. The first time i had it, i thought it was fantastic but the two times after that were mediocre at best. Authentic Mexican food!!! I ordered Tacos Al Pastor which are incredibly delicious along with a Chile Relleno. If you decide to sit down and eat they bring you chips and a side of delicious fire red hot sauce (hell in a bowl), green sauce (regular hot sauce) and Pico De Gallo. I love spicy food and that sauce is the spiciest I've ever had! I couldn't speak for a bit. The waiter was very friendly and very efficient. The cashier was as well. They have any type of Mexican food you may be looking for. At the register they have a bin full of authentic Mexican candy which was pretty cool. This place is a gem. I had some of the tastiest lengua tacos in recent memory and the fish and shrimp tacos my partner ordered were delicious as well. I preferred them with the onions and cilantro, but you can get them "American style" and they were tasty that way as well. We topped it off with a piña colada and left VERY satisfied. My only regrets are that there is no milder salsa at the table (although the spicy green tomatilla salsa is amazing) and the guac is a little bland. For me the salsa of a Mexican joint is important and let it be warned the "salsa" they serve is just the red/ or green taco sauce with lime it's absolutely disgusting, also the steak tasted like pork the only good thing was the guacamole after adding A lot of salt to it... Arturo's has the best looking and best tasting piña coladas I've ever tasted. It had more of a coconut flavor than any of the others I've tried. The lime margarita was pretty good, too! It wasn't very busy for a Saturday night, so I had a good time relaxing and enjoying the soccer game. The Mexican gyro gordita I had was pretty nice and filling, and the tortilla chips and salsas that came with were good as well. The wait staff was also very friendly. They have good food and I like that they have a drive thru. They are also cheaper than El Famous Burrito down the street if you go on Taco Tuesday. But they do get angry anytime I use a debit or credit card though; so I only come here if I have cash. If I don't, I go to El Famous where they act nothing but grateful for my business; regardless of my payment method. I understand that you probably get charged for the card processing; but instead of getting 100% of my Taco Tuesday business you only get maybe half. That's just the way it goes I guess. read more

This place was somewhat of a disappointment. I had a craving for mexican (I usually do) and this place seemed quite good based off the pictures and reviews. My guest and I arrived at 5 and the restaurant was empty. Our waitress arrived quickly to our table and we ordered a piña colada and guacamole right away. However, service really lacked despite the restaurant being pretty empty. Both the guac and piña colada were good. Probably one of the best piña coladas I had! So yey as far as that goes. For our meal, I ordered the fried tacos and my guest ordered the enchiladas with the red sauce. I really can't say I enjoyed my meal. Nothing was special about it and the sour cream had a really strange taste. I tried my guest's enchiladas and the red sauce completely ruined it. It almost tasted like metal. Any ways, the problem was fixed quick and she got them without any sauce. Overall the experience was just not that great. I will not return in the future cause the food and service just lacked. read more

Amazing little restaurant in wheeling. The food is honestly out of this world, purely due to how genuine it is. It's clear this food is made with love. I had a taco plate that was amazing and the shrimp taco was out of this world. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are fairly latge. There is something very simple and wholesome about this place. The staff is super friendly - we really felt welcomed as soon as we walked thru the doors. The scene - well, take an old fast food restaurant and turn it into a take out and dine in restaurant ... And put up some Mexican decorations ... And boom, there you have Arturo's. So why the 5 stars. The food is fantastic! It's spectacular. This place reminds me of my Mexican friend's homes growing up in rural California. The food is fresh, exploding with flavor and just darn good. We had the fajitas, the kinder had the burrito and enchiladas.
