Food-wise, Mia's Cantina hits the mark. You get complimentary WARM chips and salsa. Warm chips is always a nice touch. I also ordered chicken tortilla soup and the "cup" was bowl-sized. It's been a little bit since we've been back. This review is specifically for their to go, as last time we dined in it took 40 minutes for us to get our food. We ordered a side of guac, 3 beer batter fried fish tacos, and birria tacos. I also ordered a drink. We opened the bag and I got a flattop grilled fish as opposed to the beer batter fried fish tacos like I ordered. I didn't want to wait for my food again but it was rather disappointing that we went through the effort of going through the ordering options for it to still not come out right. My husband had the birria tacos and mentioned that that weren't bad, just not one go out of his way for again. I went to try it and it was super dried out even after dipping into the consume which was lacking a bit in flavor. Then for the drink, they forgot to give it to us, and when we came in they gave us a 4 ounce cup for our 3.50 Jamaica aqua Fresca. When we asked the hostess she looked at us like we were speaking a foreign language and offered us an orange jarrito. Very spacious restaurant! A decent amount of outdoor seating. We sat outdoors and really enjoyed our experience. Service was friendly and fast! The first order of chips and salsa is included but you will be charged for refills. I appreciate that they include one round and at least list this fact on their menu. The charge is $2.50 which isn't unreasonable. I'm glad they are transparent and reasonable and I can't blame restaurants for trying to manage costs. I had the enchiladas trio. I don't find this offered at too many Mexican restaurants so I was happy about it. You get one enchilada with each sauce (ranchero, verde, and mole). However, instead of having each enchilada be one sauce they went horizontally across all three enchiladas. I suggest they don't do that. I kind of wanted them separate. What if I wanted to take the verde one home? You get my point. I chose shredded Chicken for the meat. Overall, pretty good experience! read more

We stopped by Mia's cantina while we shopped around at the wheeling night market. What a great summer evening event to attend with family and friends. We were able to grab the last spot on the patio (it fills up quick) and the weather was beautiful. The food was delicious and the portions were big! We had the Al pastor tacos, fajitas, and my kids enjoyed their chicken quesadilla! All the food was really good. The entire family loved what they ordered. The customer service was friendly and we were seated promptly. The food did take a little long but was understandable since they were busy. They gave us salsa and chips to munch on while we waited. My friend and I grabbed a light dinner here while listening to live music in the courtyard. We were seated on the patio, and then waited for some time before anyone acknowledged us again. We were then served complimentary chips and salsa, and we both ordered chicken quesadillas. We both agreed that the quesadillas were extremely bland -- they either needed some seasoning or toppings other than the small cup of sour cream they were served with. I ended up dipping mine in some of the salsa that had come with our chips. That strategy was short-lived because while we were still eating, someone came by and cleared the chips and salsa off our table. I'm thinking this was just an off night, as I've eaten here before without issue. I'll come back, but will avoid the flavorless quesadillas next time. read more

Then they have a couple of "garage door" windows by the bar that open into the pro inside where I found a live band playing Mamas and the Papas straight into Midnight Oil. WHAAAAT?!?! Awesome sauce. This place is not as busy as it should be. This is your fault, diners and Yelpers! The food (on our 4 visits) was excellent. Note: if you like a bit of heat, order your dish with habanero sauce. This most recent time (lunch with 2 friends) we had good and generously sized margaritas, a lovely, chunky and spicy guacamole ( the spice was offered as a choice and we wisely took it). Entrees were enchiladas, and Chile rellenos. Large portions and mucho tasty. Although we were quite full (we brought home leftovers) we did order a flan to split (truth be told we ordered 2 flan for 3 of us but the second generous portion was taken home by lucky me (for lucky and lovely wife). I live at the apartments at ONE Wheeling Town Center and Mia's is throwing bashes on Saturday nights. The music is so loud, we can hardly hear our own TVs and this goes on until well past 1am every Saturday night. We've tried calling and all we get is a recording. Pro tip: Don't go on Tuesdays 2nd time here. Was going to be a regular here but bad management/owner. Never again. The bad: The manager on Tuesday and the server are bad and don't know how to do business. We asked for the price for an item and then the server quoted us $16. But then charged us $20. We would have ordered something different. We also asked for rice and he didn't bring it either and then when we pointed it out after telling the manager that we came yesterday, he gave us an attitude and fought us for the extra unnecessary charge. And then both the manager and server had a terrible attitude after this and didn't even apologize or own up to their behavior. And the manager didn't even show up after arguing. the manager/owner doesn't know how to do business. And I AM completely ignoring the slow service today with an almost empty restaurant, having to wait for 10 minutes to get a menu and water. I meet my friends at the wheeling location on Monday night . I had a delicious strawberry margarita, but only one . It was huge. I do appreciate the vegetarian/ vegan options . I had zucchini and corn tacos with rice and beans on the side . I should ordered guacamole too . But I did forget. The back patio is where we sat , it had an apartment complex next door . Quite frankly the negative reviews have discouraged us from trying Mia's in the past. But we as a family were very pleased with our entrees and especially the kids meals. The staff is friendly and very helpful The food was also very well prepared and presented professionally, very tasty. The food was good. My issue is based on pricing. The pricing on the menu and what you actually get charged are different. For example, I ordered a steak burrito. The menu price is $12. The price I got charged was $16. Another example, we ordered Micheladas. Price on the menu $6. Price we were charged $8. Completely unacceptable and most likely illegal. When we brought it up to out server, she said there was nothing she could do about it. I asked for the manager, and there was none available. I asked if they could call him and was told "no". He would be in on Monday and i could call then. I wish I could give this place 4 stars because the food is delicious. However, the service was terrible. We talked to a waitress who asked us to sit wherever we would like. After finding our seats, we waited at least ten minutes to even be acknowledged. The waitress said she would be with us shortly, but we would have to wait another ten minutes to place our drink orders, which were taken by an entirely different person! There were 8 tables occupied in the entire restaurant, so there is absolutely no reason why the wait should have been so lengthy, especially when other tables were being helped around us.
