El Super Burrito is huge, and they filled it with all the ingredients I wanted, although I did skip the guacamole since it cost extra. I asked which vegan meat was more flavorful, and they recommended the vegan pastor, which had a great texture and taste! I was also happy that the Mexican rice and refried beans are vegan too! The service was quick, and I was in and out in 5 minutes. I didn't stay there to eat, but the restaurant's atmosphere was nice (not too loud, which I appreciate). A tlacoyo sounds pretty good: A Mexican dish made of masa, thicker than fresh corn tortillas and are stuffed with cheese, fava beans, cooked ground beans, chicharron, and other ingredients before being fried or toasted. The restaurant was bright with papel picado on the ceiling and lively reggaeton music. You order at the counter, and can get burritos, tacos, bowls. I did not order a tlacoyo but instead got a barbacoa bowl with lettuce. The barbacoa (lamb) was a little stringy (the texture of lamb?) although it was tender and had a nice flavor. Without rice or beans it was a little liquidy in the bowl (my fault perhaps because I omitted rice), although it could have been the sauce they suggested and I liked it. I also ordered an horchata but it was too sweet for me. This was fun and a good option although I think next time I should try tacos instead. read more

As a 17 dollar steak burrito it was not very good. Meat was not very well seasoned and overcooked. Certainly wasn't skirt steak. Guac is not included in that 17 dollars... The salsas are all over the place and the workers don't seem to be very helpful in recommending what goes well with what. For a place that wants to be chiplote. They never seem to be able to keep up with any kind of rush so probably best to avoid if you're in a rush. Overall for the price and flavor it's just not worth it unless you just really want to try it or are feeling generous and wanting to support a local business. read more

I have been to this establishment on a couple of occasions and while the food is good the main chef/guy always seems to be very rude to me and has an attitude problem. T'lacoyo has OUTSTANDING food, with a new lousy attitude to go with it. Lately, our takeout orders have been wrong, missing chicken from one order, the wrong order entirely in another case. Recently, half an hour wait times have been the case for pick-ups. In this case, my wife, in line, ordered beans and rice on quesadillas. I suppose that's not common, but it's precisely what we had a taste for. When ordering IN the store, a manager or perhaps the owner was waiting on her when she placed the order. The grill person said, 'You can have vegetables or protein, but we don't put beans and rice on a quesadilla.' My wife pointed out she was standing right there, and would he be so kind as to make that up this one time? Is it exactly what we have a taste for? The grill person said, 'No, we don't do that. You can go somewhere else and get that.' She did walk out. That's the first time anyone at Tlcoyo has been rude on the phone or in person. We did get precisely what we wanted at La Taquiza in Highland Park, where we live. Great food is what it's all about, but that has to be accompanied by good service and a good attitude. Big fan of Tlacoyo. My wife and I moved to the area last year and Tlacoyo remains the best Mexican food that we've had in the area. I am partial to the burrito, but it's worth highlighting the freshly made masa dough, which shines in the eponymous Tlacoyo appetizer and is also in the Sopes. The food tastes fresh and the sauces are flavorful. The atmosphere is friendly, and I was very pleased with the service. They are very accommodating and really work to make sure you have a good experience. It's a little pricier than some other fast-casual type places but if you are comfortable with that I would argue it is well worth it. I plan to return, and would recommend to friends. read more

I went back today to have the delicious birria on the menu only to following out that they took it off. That was strike one. There were a few people ahead of me in line, and they only had three people in the restaurant to make the food, prepare it for the customers, and check the customers out. We did take out, but eating in looks nice even as a fast-prep restaurant. Walked in and thought...wow this looks a lot like another restaurant we all know...although the ordering was a little rough the food was EXCELLENT. Ordered several steak (these were real steak) tacos. Then a burrito and finally a bowl. Even had a "tlacoyo". This food comes from the owners of El Traditional (once by the Home Depot) and now at The Glen. Boy did I miss them and Sooooo glad to have them back.
