We got lucky enough to get the very private single suite above the Cafe area they have next to the pool which was very spacious and clean. This place was great and we would totaly come back but the reason for my not so perfect rating would be because I got food poisining from eating here for breakfest. Again I was very lucky that our room was right above the cafe so I was able to get back to my room fast. If youre looking for a good marina location and at amazing prices, look no further. Every dish had a flare of Mexican authenticity, fresh and packed with wonderful flavors. The only odd thing is that when you are in the penthouse, the elevator opens up directly into the unit. So, the maids and chef would already be inside the unit without you even knowing it. But, they were all so friendly and courteous to make sure they weren't disturbing us. The private roof top pool made all the difference to this trip. Loved, loved, loved it. This was vacation as it should be.

If there is no one behind the bar they have an honor system that you can write down what you chose. They have everything from non-alcoholic beverages to top shelf, premium spirits. In the afternoon when there are a few guests enjoying the sun, they do have someone actually coming around to the pool while you are in it asking if you would like anything. They have a Jacuzzi that is available that is right on the river. One just needs to ask them to turn on and give them a half an hour to get it at a perfect temperature. They have a choice of breakfast in the mornings at a fair price. Our room with spectacular, with wonderful rounded tall ceilings, and beautiful stained glass on parts of the top, I believe it was called the countess. If you are looking for a charming, not big hotel feeling this is the place for you. I will stay there when I go to Puerto Vallarta again.

Hotel Mio is owned by Groupo Posada that owns the nearby Fiesta Americana and Friendly Hotel; both of which are all inclusive. The check in was easy, and the employees were friendly. We stayed in a room with two double beds and view of the city and the ocean in the distance. Regarding the room, it was clean spacious, and had everything one would expect. Being only four years old, there were minor signs of wear. It located on the Main Street so depending on room location, one might consider earplugs. The hotel has two free rental bicycles and a fantastic rooftop pool that boasts sunset views. Nightly, there is a DJ present from 5pm to 8pm. There is also a bar at the rooftop as well as food service. Regarding the food service, we attempted to order one evening but the server said the kitchen was backed up, and it could take up to an hour to get some basic food. Thus, we sought a snack elsewhere. Regarding the location, it is above average. There are restaurants and a mall nearby that involves a 5 minute walk. In addition, it is a short drive to downtown. Beach access is allowed through the adjacent Friendly Hotel. Just remember to take a Mio pool towel as there are no rentals on the beach. Overall, the Mio was a clean affordable non all inclusive option in a decent location. Since is was not all inclusive, there was no guilt leaving the hotel to hangout, eat, and drink downtown. Following the few nights at the Mio, we moved onto the beachfront Fiesta Americana to solely hangout at the resort.

Upon arrival of this hotel there was a parking garage for their guests. Once we finally got checked in and in our room,  we noticed that the staff was maintaining the facility at a very high standard of cleanliness. Lastly, the spouse and I truly enjoyed our visit with a very comfortable night of rest at a very affordable rate. We decided to pay the additional daily fee for use of their restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is a buffet style and offers plenty of healthy options for everyone. For guests that didn't pay for breakfast, there is the option of paying from their menu as well. The front desk can provide assistance with money exchange as well as assistance in getting a local taxi. This hotel does not have any hotel shuttle to and from the PVR Airport. This hotel has an very suitable gym located on the 2nd floor, and we got our daily workout every morning. The 11th floor has an outdoor pool and jacuzzi for the guests to enjoy. Also on the 11th floor was a bar that offered refreshments and a small menu for lunch and dinner options. Great stay, I would use this location again! Tip: be careful of cab driver #288 was unprofessional, rude, and wouldn't turn on airconditioning once asked, and he tried to overcharge us on a ride. Fast forward a couple months later, we're here and trying it out.... First off, location is AMAZING. Literally right in the heart of the Romantic Zone. Everything is literally footsteps and minutes away. You have the beach a few minutes walk down. As well as the well known Los Muertos Pier. Restaurant one after the other next door to you and across the street. Not only that, bars are all walking distance. Either at the corner or half a block away. Even though it's central to everything, it wasn't crazy noisy. Check in was a breeze. We got dropped off with uber. It's a one way street so it made it simple but parking is tricky there if you're driving. Right when you walk in, that's where you'll be greeted with the beautiful color crochet canopy. We arrived early and were offered early check in and late check out with our booking status. Not only that, we were offered two rooms to choose from and to top it off. A beautiful welcoming with a bottle of wine. Property is pretty much lined with plants and flowers surrounding the area. I believe it's three maybe four level. There is a pool, it's small but does the trick for a boutique hotel. Sun lounges around it as well as on an upper deck for sunbathing. There's a massive mango tree that's right in front and does offer fruits which are left out for anyone to take. Check in was a breeze, with the sweet lady that was working. They do have a lock and safe box in front private room. It was 300 peso deposit and you receive it after you return the ticket slip at end of visit. Same as beach towels, believe it was 200 pesos deposit. Room itself, pretty basic as it's a boutique hotel. Affordable which was nice. They had Airbnb similar but this visit we didn't want to have to do everything ourself. Hence a hotel with housekeeping. Big king size bed with a sofa/futon. Bathroom was basic with a shower. Sink was small. It does need some renovation but did the trick. You have complimentary toiletry which was just basic. There wasn't an iron, blow dryer or safe in room. Traditional Hispanic vibes decorated the room. There's of course ac and a small tv mounted to the wall near ceiling. You're able to connect to your streaming channels from your phone. We did have to figure out how to change the language preferences. Overall, rooms do need some updating. Property was beautiful with all the lush plants and flowers. Courtyard with the beautiful colorful canopy and tables outside. Decent pool for lounging, it's not that deep. There's a community fridge and kitchen area. Power did go out for a bit which left the tv unable to come on but we were heading out for the evening. Minor glitch. There is construction a couple doors down but didn't bother us as we were out majority of the day. And a restaurant literally right next door for breakfast and lunch. Would I stay again, yes. It's a nice friendly affordable place. Perfect location for everything. Had all the necessity, safe which can be utilized in private room at the lobby. I'm sure dryer and iron can be brought up to room. But the stay was great.

Such a deal as it was in a quiet residential neighborhood but within easy walking distance to popular restaurants and bars as well as the Malecon. For three nights, we stayed on the second floor in the purple and gray Korvette room which had a comfortable Queen bed and a nice balcony overlooking the river. It was a bucolic woodsy setting with birds chirping and the sporadic rumble of motor scooters below us. The entire hotel was decorated to the hilt with eccentric bric-a-brac that must surely reflect the eclectic taste of the owner. The hotel's homey vibe extended even to the house cat who had its own Victorian brass bed. We took advantage of the complimentary margaritas available upon arrival. The bartender was up on the rooftop terrace on the seventh floor. We stayed in the spacious Carlotta suite: bedroom with a very comfortable king-size bed, kitchen, large living room and two bathrooms. The hotel's second-floor dining room serves a solid breakfast--sliced fruit, orange juice and mains ranging from huevos rancheros and chilaquiles to pancakes and oatmeal. Bottomless cups of coffee are poured by the friendly staff who double as housekeepers. The seventh floor is home to a pool and bar with great views, and the domain of bartender Jesus who makes a great margarita. I don't know if Señor Rigo is officially the concierge, but he was on top of his game when it came to arranging for taxis and a rental car. We really enjoyed the location, an easy stroll from the beating heart of Zona Romántica with its throngs of people and abundance of street-side 25-peso taco stands, bars and sit-down restaurants. Within a block or two were markets, farmacias, and a laundry that charged 20 pesos a kilo for same-day service. This hotel is best for travelers looking for unique lodging. Bedrooms were all great - the a/c really cooled the rooms down and got rid of the humidity. Showers in the rooms took some getting used to in terms of adjusting the water temps. Very spacious kitchen that was fully stocked. Pool was beautiful, though it ran pretty cold in June. Very nice dining and living room areas. The patio was really nice - that's where we probably spent most of our time. Plenty of seating areas around the pool as well. The beach was just down the stairs. Our daughters had fun watching all the hermit crabs and playing in the waves. The water was surprisingly warm! Kitchen staff (Cesar and Maragarita) were outstanding and cooked some amazing meals - they worked to accomodate our young kids as well (mac n cheese, pasta, horchata, etc). Juan - the house manager - was personable and helpful. He helped arranged transportation, massages and suggested outings (we did a fun boat excursion, including snorkling). Rooms were cleaned daily and our personal laundry was done too. The very open-air house leads to lots of bugs and humidity. Prepare for some potential visitors in your room. We even had a crab make it into ours! Overall a top-notch stay that was a perfect fit for our summer family vacation.

The property is magical, with hidden staircases and little private spots to have coffee or read a book. The landscaping is beautiful. There is a well-stocked communal kitchen as well as smaller but highly functioning kitchens in some of the rooms. More than a few great patios where having a meal is a delight - perfect views everywhere. The pool area is solid with plenty of chairs and shade. The beach is right over the sea wall and the crashing waves sound amazing. Each room is unique and pictures are hard to capture the thought and care that went into making each one special. Completely walkable along the beach (it is rocky in places so wear shoes) but your hosts can help you get a taxi anywhere you want to go. Take a short ride to Sayulita - amazing. La Cruz has a Sunday artisan/farmers market that is way better than I expected. I had to cram things into an additional bag to get everything home. I'm planning my next trip back! It's all I've dreamt about for the past two days.
