Been coming here a couple times a week for a while now and it never disappoints. Best selection of cigars of any lounge I've been too and a wonderful atmosphere. Several ppl have told me to check this place out and I finally made it...vast selection, decent prices, but the customer service is horrendous. I was walking in circles looking for new cigars to try, nothing crazy, I had 12-13 cigars and I asked an elderly guy who was standing at the counter closest to the rear entrance if he would could tell me where the Gurkha cigars were. I said "this is my first time here and I'm pretty new cigars...I'm sorry, I wasn't able to find them". He says "2 tables over" and then proceeds to give me the most unclear instructions I've ever been given in 42yrs on earth. I said "I'm sorry, I don't see them" and he walks over in a huff and shows me this small selection of them. He then walks away and tells someone else loudly "I had to tell that f**king guy 17x to turn around"? Cool...left over $200 worth of cigars on the counter and walked out, I'll never spend a dime in this place. I can do without the attitude read more

A great cigar store with a humidor the size of a basketball court. Stacks and stacks of perfectly humidified cigars to choose from. Guys who like cigars, and Arty, who likes me enough to help me find new sticks to smoke. Arty was also really good on pointing me toward an elegant Xikar lighter my wife bought me on the spot for my birthday, and refreshing me on how to refresh my humidor. The lounge is like the Star Wars Cantina, totally fun whether you talk or take in the show with a good coffee and cigar. A little brandy would be good, but ya can't get it all. What a great place to get a cigar. My father enjoys a good cigar but rarely treats himself to a top line cigar. Prior to going to the store, I had googled best cigars, and had stumbled upon a list. I walked inside I was just so happy to see a warm, pleasant greeting right when you walk in. I was asked how can I help you and I simply showed them my list and said what do you think of these cigars? Right away the two gentlemen looked at each other and said wow we were just mentioning this cigar, so I knew I was on the right path. The gentleman took me to each cigar that I had mentioned - showed me different sizes, explained how some are wrapped in a darker color and gave me feedback as too taste too. What I greatly appreciated was how I was not given looks, nor was my son as he's almost 3 and came in with me wearing his face mask.Although it might not be the most ideal atmosphere for a child, I did not feel judged, my son remained in his stroller (which I would suggest for young children) and I wasn't rushed out of the store because I was with a child. It was a fantastic experience to be able to go there and pick out some special cigars for my father or as my son calls him "pop pop" We spent all of maybe seven minutes inside the store, and I made sure that I was moving swiftly just because I don't know how people would respond to seeing a child that young in a store like that. It truly made me feel so happy to not feel as if we weren't allowed. The selection of cigars is beyond belief. The store is covered with beautiful cigars placed in these gorgeous boxes, that I really was tempted to ask to take a box home if it wasn't being used. If you smoke cigars, or know someone who does, this place is an absolute gem and what a treat you or the person receiving the cigar will be in for. I clearly haven't been to JR's in YEARS because the interior was completely different from the way I remember it. Gone is the gift shop and in its place a very nice smoking lounge. The store itself is still the way it was and it felt like going home walking through those wooden doors. The staff are all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and if you or someone you know is a cigar person, this is the only place you need to go. read more

I havr been a frequent customer at JR Cigars in Paramus for years. Today I went there to purchase cigars and have a drink. I asked the bartender if any of the empty tables were available? He responded that they were reserved. I then asked if any of the empty stools were available, and again he responded they were reserved. At this point I noticed a gentleman getting up from a table across the room. I signaled to him if he was leaving, and he responded yes. I asked the bartender if I can have the table the gentleman left from, and without looking told me it was reserved. Very unprofessional behavior on his part. Two minutes later someone he apparently knew walked in, and he told them to wait about 10 minutes. He should have extended the same courtesy to me rather than blowing me off like he could not be bothered. I am there in a monthly basis with numerous friends and alone. It is insulting to be treated in this manner. read more

Stopped here to pick up some cigars for my father-and noticed there was a bar in the back. I grabbed a drink and met the nicest bartender named Michelle. Was super informative and friendly-great service-she has a ton of good info about the shop to share. The bar room in the back is really a nice spot-The only negative was the lighting was too bright in the back by the bar. Would be a better ambiance if it was a bit more dimmer. Such a hidden gem. While you read this quick review, I'd like you to keep in mind that I've been going to this place when they served soup.....remember those days?! JR is a pretty awesome place, they have some knick knacks, candy and pet goods when you first walk in. If you happen to be a football fan, or know someone that is, they usually have some pretty fantastic selections of clothing in the Fall. Also on that note, if you need some decor for the man cave, they have a few things for that too!! The gem of this whole outing is their huge walk in humidor. A place where people can actually smoke inside!! The staff is knowledgeable about what you might be looking for, or something different. Whether your looking to purchase a full box, a bag, or a single cigar, J - R Cigar is your place for everything cigar. Gone is the smoking room, however, the associates do smoke inside the sales room. I'm not sure if customers are allowed, but I don't see why not. But then again, why would you want to? There aren't any chairs, and there isn't an area where you could spend 45 minutes or so to enjoy your cigar. You'd be smoking in the aisles or at the counter. Doesn't seem comfortable. I'm not a frequent cigar smoker but fancy a high quality one every so often if the occasion permits. It just so happened that I was going on last minute trip and figured why not grab a few for the road? I love to order online due to the cost savings and wider selection but ultimately prefer brick and mortar shops because of their customer service. Then I discovered JR's and based on what I saw here on Yelp, it seemed like the best of both worlds. Selection? Check. Local, brick and mortar store? Check. Cost savings? Check! Unfortunately, what they offer in selection they severely lack in customer service... and savings. I was barely even acknowledged in the place and my few questions were deflected or outright dismissed. The savings were negligible at best (my question about price matching was laughed at) and canceled out . It was not a pleasant experience at all and I don't imagine myself returning. read more

I been coming here for a while. They finally made that front room a huge smoking room. Hats off to you for that. Nice section of smokes. Prices are reasonable. The only complaint I had was I was not given matches after my purchase of a few top cigars, never asked if I wanted the cigars cut or punched, and never given a little pack to keep the cigars fresh. So, probably not a good idea to buy boxes. also, don't even buy from jr online they have a huge walk in humidor and like cigars international it can be risk of getting cigars dry.
