The first time visiting Agave canteen because the experience seemed good to me from the entrance Luis C was very friendly with his service and accommodated us and we had no reservation. The atmosphere is very good for people who like party music. Something that really called me was the presentation of the entire staff very professional and very in line with the place Bravo ! I'm talking about food, the portions are according to one person! The truth is that if they should go and try and make their own conclusions, I would go back to try something different.

Really great Mexican restaurant in the area! Parking is limited and it's only valet but there's a ton of neighborhood street parking close by. The ambiance was perfect for a date night or girls night out. We got chips, a pinto bean dip, and salsa right when we sat down. That combination was very tasty. We ordered the chicken tacos and the rojas enchiladas. Both were delicious! They serve 4 tacos which was more than enough to fill me up. My only negative was the music was very loud which made it hard to converse at times.

Churros. Cold betty dip, not warm chocolate.

The overall vibe was beautiful--definitely a place that puts effort into the atmosphere. The host was friendly and welcoming. Just a heads up: I was asked if I had a reservation when I walked in, so be mindful of the timing when you arrive. Pros: It was my first time there, and the space was mostly filled with women--maybe just a coincidence, but it created a fun, comfortable vibe. My first margarita was delicious--so good it convinced me to order a second. Unfortunately, the second one didn't quite hit the same, but I'm glad I got to enjoy that first round. Food came out hot and fast, which I appreciated. The churros were a definite highlight! (It is served with a cold berry dip, not a hot chocolate syrup, fyi). Cons: Parking is definitely a challenge--limited to begin with, and after a certain hour, it switches to valet, which is a downside for me. Prices are on the high end. Honestly, the cost of appetizers alone would make it hard for me to bring the family or hang out for too long. (Guac for $18) The DJ was way too loud--it made it hard to hear our waiter and even people at our own table. Vegetarian options were pretty limited, which is something I personally look for. Overall, I'd consider going back for a special occasion--the vibe and experience had its highlights. But for a casual visit, the pricing and limited food options don't quite work for me.

This place is amazing. The food was sooooo good. The drinks were even better. I had the Henny Coco old fashioned with a huge coconut water ice cube. For apps we had the chicharron and guacamole we also had the pulpo which was marinated to perfection. The wonton tuna tacos were the best. Their tacos are so delicious we had steak tacos and birria tacos. We are definitely going back.

Great food, service and ambiance. Highly recommended. Their menu is great. My only negative comment it's that the music gets SUPER LOAD !!! You can't have a conversation past 7pm. I love the DJ and the music but it is a restaurant not a club. As an experienced restaurant employee in the past, this is super inconvenient. Playing music is great for ambiance but when it gets to a point where you can even speak it's not good

Great spot with good food and great music to compliment it. Came here on a Saturday evening for a bday dinner and I left happily after. Service is excellent and professional. They have a dj on Saturday playing those good jams. Drinks are on point. Love the decor in this place. Valley parking is available. I will come back to this place.

Came here for a Friday dinner with two friends. They have a small parking lot and I was about to pull into a spot when the valet person stopped me and was adamant that he had to park the car. This place definitely did not need valet service, just felt like they were trying to be more of a premium place than they actually are. Inside felt like a club. Maybe later at night people dance there. The DJ was playing great music but it was super loud. It was hard for me to hear the person right next to me, we were basically shouting. Food was tasty. The skirt steak was juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Good cocktails.

The question said oh no, what could be improved? Everything. My sister arrived at the restaurant probably 20 minutes before me and she said nobody greeted her at the door. She waited about eight minutes before she was greeted. I arrived and the waitress came and got our drink orders. As we're waiting for our drink orders we're talking and we tried the refried beans which was clearly puréed because it was really smooth so that was good. As we were conversing the Tostones came out and the calamari as appetizers. The Tostones was clearly fried in old oil an the calamari was slightly rubbery, and too salty.. I saw that they offered crunchy shell tacos and when I get there, they only had softshell tacos and they did fry other taco shells which look like Taco Bell Chalupa taco shells, but those were too hard and not tasty and I did not enjoy that either. we put the tacos in a to go container and told them they could keep it cause I already knew I wasn't gonna eat it at home. They need to go back to the drawing board and make sure that they train their waitresses to be more hospitable because we were never asked. Do we want water and we sat and watched the couple that came in after us get poured a glass of water. Then again we were the only Black people in there. This is Clifton. I don't want to insinuate that you guys are racist but what else could the lack of customer service and attentive behavior be attributed to? It took our waitress forever to get the orders the drinks and never got the water. And it sucks because when we walked in, we said the ambience was so beautiful. We have to come back dressed really nicely so that we could take photos and now they lost that opportunity. Sucks for you.

Considering everyone is competing with each other right now, and Mexican restaurants. I have to say I had a good experience. This restaurant is sexy, and it has the perfect lighting.. It has a huge parking lot and a very good bar selection.. the tostadas could have been better. Maybe I'm a food snob but after going to Mexico, you always want that authentic Mexican flavor when you go to their restaurants now. Hey I understand that most places have to lean towards Tex-Mex flavors to cater to the masses.. the staff is very professional. I would recommend this place over. Asadero any day of the week.

Service was top tier. The staff came and checked on us multiple times. The outside area is super cute and perfect for a summer evening. I had two coconut mojitos that were strong and tasty. Shared the queso fundido was so good. I definitely want to come back to try other menu items Please note they have valet but it does have a $5 service charge. Good thing he took zelle but also you can park on the side streets and save your $5.

Same owner as the Agave in Wallington, but very different menu. This menu was more of a Mexican fusion menu, whereas Wallington's menu is more authentic Mexican food. Overall the food was delightful. The guac was delicious. Downside, it only came with 4 chips. Not nearly enough to eat the guac. We also ordered shrimp as an appetizer. It was good and had a nice spicy kick to it. The margarita was fantastic and was presented wonderfully. For dinner, I had the enchiladas and my fiancé had chicken. Both were good. The chicken was a small portion, should be on the appetizer menu given the size. Overall a good experience. Missing a little more liveliness that I normally see at Mexican restaurants. Upbeat music would have been nice.

I went back here and it just wasn't the same. No live music it's only during the weekend. The gauc was delicious and that's about it. The chips felt stale. The pork tacos had no flavour. It wasn't even busy and the service felt slow. But the server was nice. Maybe the manager wasn't in so it lacked. My first experience was a 10/10z Ps I went for my bday - no candles :( Sigh....

    Guacamole

The service is great, we got greeted as we walk to the the table. The drinks are good but so far noting to be back for. The guacamole was ok but need it favor. I order the carne tampiqueña. The meat seemed to be frozen at some point. There was not flavor to it and did not care about it. The cheese enchiladas cold as well as the rice. The restaurant had a nice decor and music make the ambience nice and inviting.

I wasn't super hungry so we shared the crispy cauliflower and lamb ribs from the appetizer menu. The crispy cauliflower was excellent -- hot, actually crispy, and not drowning in sauce which I really appreciated. The lamb ribs came over labneh (a yogurt base) and the first plate arrived with the lamb cold. I asked our waitress if that was intentional and she said only the labneh should be cold. They immediately replaced it with a fresh order and handled it really well, which I appreciated. Great service recovery and overall a really enjoyable brunch spot with a lively atmosphere.

A quick heads-up: on Google Maps it's listed as Ceviche 517, but the sign on the building says Tavern 517, which initially threw us off. We were circling around until we decided to just trust the physical address--and we're so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, the name didn't even matter anymore. The decor is stunning--definitely has an upscale, Instagram-worthy vibe with a modern lounge feel. We might've come a little early because the place was quiet when we arrived, but that worked in our favor as we got to settle in comfortably and explore the menu. Drinks were a mixed experience. We tried the margarita flight, which included coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry. The coconut and passion fruit margaritas were absolutely delicious--fresh, balanced, and memorable. The strawberry, however, was a big miss--tasted like kid's medicine and no one at the table could finish it. We also ordered a drink called something like Chicola--it had ginger ale, lime juice, and some type of liquor, and unfortunately, it was another one we couldn't get through. The flavors just didn't mix well, and everyone at the table agreed it was a no for us. On the flip side, the Perfect Mule with a strawberry twist, the Henny Mojito, and a bold and fun drink called No Sheets were much better received. Menus are displayed on sleek tablets, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the in-house menu offered way more options than what's listed online. And the food? Absolutely excellent. The Tallarín Saltado with vegetables was beyond delicious--we placed it in the center so everyone could dig in. The ceviche flight was fresh and flavorful, and the jalea (a fried seafood platter) didn't last long on the table either. One friend had the larger ceviche bowl paired with a mojito and already asked to come back just for that combo. Even the kid's arroz chaufa with chicken impressed us, with a big enough portion for leftovers. If there's one thing that fell flat, it was the atmosphere--at least early in the evening. When we arrived, the music playing sounded like retro video game tunes, but thankfully it transitioned into upbeat Spanish hits, including some great bachata that gave the space some energy. All in all, despite a few drink misses and a quiet start, this spot is a gem. The food alone is worth the trip, and we're definitely planning to return--next time a little later in the evening to hopefully catch a livelier vibe!
